The pedestrian was just being oblivious and should have stopped on the median, I think that while pedestrians have right of way to cars, emergency vehicles should have right of way over pedestrians and anything else on the road including trams, or other rail transport.

interesting to see that only the light bar is flashing. In American police cars usually the headlights(or daytime running lights) tail, lights and reverse lights all flash in addition to the top bar.

I also think its nice that you can here then engine even over the sirens. 4:24 I think as a pedestrian you should also have to yield to emergency vehicles even though pedestrians have right of way to cars, I think emergency vehicles should have right of way over pedestrians. 7:41 is an example of this but the fact that cars are still moving as normal when they hear and see the sirens is crazy. They should have been moved over and stopped by then.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this doesn't help, it just makes the situation worse. People aren't going to know why theotorcycle is waving at them. They're moving because they see the sirens. More often than not this creates more delays for the ambulance, and ambulance drivers themselves have repeatedly said not to do this. Especially since if you get injured, they'll have to stop to assist you instead of getting to the hospital.

The Nederlands, you mean the place where they allow motorcycle riders (those who are NOT emergency workers) to speed and ride recklessly and post videos to youtube bragging about it?

Here in Australia you are taught to pull over to the left (left lane driving) when an emergency vehicle is approaching but in reality pulling over to the left is not always helpful. It seemed like some people in this video were trying to move to the right rather than just leaving a path for the ambulance - if the motorbike was a cop then they might have paid more attention.

I wonder if there is anywhere in the world where they employ professional motorbike riders to do this. If they were trained and riding a recognisable ambulance bike you’d think they would have even more success.

Maybe there should be resources put into these kinds of job positions! I could imagine working with something like this, I've worked as a motorcycle courier/runner/messenger all year around in Sweden but the pay is so bad it's just isn't worth it. Before I started working as a motorcycle courier/runner/messenger I was one in the Swedish military, there we trained at actually doing exactly this but for military vehicles, but we also were a team of drivers that needed to take turns to stand and wave on the intersections to show where they needed to go. There were once talk about modifying motorcycles to be able to have a dolly mounted on the motorcycle to be able to help smaller cars but that never happened. Now it's 14 years since I was driving as a motorcycle courier/runner/messenger and I'm 43 so it feels my best days are over. It's sad because so many people could have had help if this was being used. At least some parts of Sweden has mechanics that ride motorcycles to be able to get out on a call easier. I believe Assistansbolaget.nu has that.
