Correction: the matrix signs (as we call them) above the motorway are actually meant to help prevent a traffic jam, not to indicate an oncoming one. The theory (and practice) is that at slower speed, more cars fit on the road, and therefor a larger volume of cars can flow more easily through the congested roads. It doesn't solve traffic jams, but it does make them slightly less of a burden by prioritising volume over speed.

@2:18, this is pretty a-typical. Rather the cop should have signalled one car to move yet held up the next car in the same gesture. Hold up 1 finger, point and let them go. The second car you are holding your hand up for to remind them to stay put.

The police officers did an amazing job, that said, the people in the traffic be it pedestrians, on bikes and in the cars are so well aware of an emergency situation at hand, they all work together. The motor police and police in general have much authority and in the disciplined training of people getting their drivers licence, it is being ingrained during training to follow orders, most certainly in an emergency situation. That little grey car quickly got on the one spot it needed to stand still, so that was excellent done!!

I live in, The Hague, The Netherlands andI know this specific area very well. I am always very much impressed when I see a guided transport like this. I liked watching this video, seeing how well they made their way through traffic....

I actually had the honors of transporting one of these units from one hospital to another just a few weeks ago. I work at the company that controlls the signs above the highways in the Netherlands and in this case that meant we put on the red crosses on one of the lanes to make a passageway for this unit to pass through. We had a really intensive form of communication with eachother to make sure everything went well. I got really proud when I realized we cut off 30 minutes of the time this unit would have done normally to get from point A to point B. Really love these videos you're putting out man, keep going!

I am a newcomer to the channel and was most impressed by the video in Amsterdam .but I was wondering how belgian drivers would respond to the emergency while driving on the "ring" around Brussels or in the tunnels during rush hours !

I had occasion to drive in certain polish cities, and imho just as Wroclaw has the worst roads and the most non-intuitive road markings, the Warsaw has the worst drivers. Entering an intersection without a possibility to leave it is just as normal there as waking up in the morning. Of course, it happens everywhere around the world, but in comparison to other polish cities, in Warsaw this problem is noticeably bigger.

That’s because in The Netherlands we have strictly enforced traffic rules and we have a thorough mandatory theoretical and practical driving education with exams in order to obtain our drivers license. Infrastructure is well designed and maintained as well, no potholes etc.

This is light years ahead of the UK - you might only see a Police escort ONCE a year the roads are so congested and we just dont have specialist out riders to do this quality of work. There is the medivac helicopter but that only attends EXTREME medical rescues. The mortality in UK is very high often because there are not even enough ambulances or crews to respond.😔

Kierowcy uprzywilejowanych wciskają gaz w podłogę i gnają ile się da, nie odpuszczają przed innymi kierowcami, nie zostawiają miejsca i czasu na reakcję. Nie ma żadnego myślenia o tym, co w danej chwili czuje kierowca przed tobą. Liczy się tylko gaz, gaz, gaz. Tak naprawdę nie jest to dobre ani dla zespołu w pojeździe, ani dla osób, do których jadą - stwarza duże ryzyko wypadku.

This ambulance driver driving too fast swerving like that and going that fast is way too dangerous, people may not be able to react fast as this ambulance comes. Understandable he's rushing ahead trying to get to Hospital but going this fast was not necessary.

They should have bike paramedics who have lights and sirens, who can be deployed in heavy traffic to reach an emergency quickly (a fast responder). But they could also be used like this (travel ahead of ambulances to forewarn other motorists an ambulance is approaching). They could also serve the same function for other emergency services.
