I love this park. Perfect for a day trip from San Francisco. In fact, in the mid 1800's people in San Francisco would hop on a narrow gauge freight train that brought supplies and paper from Samual P Taylor's paper (Pioneer Paper Mill, the first paper mill on the Pacific Coast) and ride it up to the redwoods to camp overnight, then ride the train back to SF the next day. Lots of cool history there 🙂

All those Orthodox crosses. There's something affecting about the simplicity of the site. I hadn't realised the Russians had ventured as far as California. I imagine the wooden buildings of the fort have probably burned and been rebuilt several times.

You should try and go to the Jane Austin Museum in Bath the next time you visit the U.K. They do afternoon teas there.

Horses are quite common where I live, but I've never seen one in a cemetery, or a sign prohibiting them either. Deer might be more of a problem.

I proposed to my now wife at the Wolf House. I had visited the park many times before, and wanted a place that would always be accessible, and never fall to commercialism. Did you visit the pond and pig palace?

I must admit I would find the art more interesting than the wine. There must be a lot of litter pickers and gardeners in California, it all looks very neat and tidy.

A cemetery next to a freeway is not ideal for some tranquil contemplation. Cemeteries and graveyards in the UK seem to broadly fall into two categories. Those which are in active use and are maintained by local authorities, and those which are no longer in active use and are maintained by volunteers. The latter are the source of many disagreements, usually about the length of the grass, and people get very upset about the lack of care given to a loved one's grave and don't know who is responsible. Military graves are cared for independently and usually have a white concrete headstone.

You know i saw cows at sonoma marin fair on june 23, i tried to ride cow but it won't work, sigh i'll try to go to sonoma marin fair next june.
