    Excuse me, it confuses me every time, I watch a bunch of videos and drills and can’t quite get the hang of it. I don’t know whats the motion, especially when it comes to when you jump. So in this case can you show me a step by step list or video about how you do it, or a full breakdown it will be a blessing.

    Hey there, I'm preparing for my school's volleyball team and I really want to be a setter. However, I don't know the basic form and stuff and whenever my friend passes to me, it usually goes to low. I was wondering if you knew any drills, tips, or techniques that will help me improve? Preferably individual and sorry if you already made a video on it : ) Thank you

    Huh. I literally only ever heard of this a couple of days ago, and I've been doing it this whole time unconsciously. That's incredible. I guess that's how natural and efficient the movement is

    Uhhh no. The team won’t ever be shite if they treat their teammates poorly. That’s on you, coach. Teammates may bring the intensity but they can also be the worst - it’s always on the coach to set the tone

      I've been coaching for a long time and although the coach is responsible for setting the culture, that alone cannot stop everyone from being a negative teammate. You can't change people that easily

    First want to say thank you for the awesome video. You said it's important to focus on one component each time. When doing one component of the serve, should you do a lot before moving onto the next component?

      Sure thing! And not necessarily. You can work on multiple at the same time while just focusing on one cue for each practice session

    The thing that buggles me a little bit is that when you do it like in the first move, your first turn the hip and afterwards your torso so this rotational force happens. So when you turn the hip first the hip shoulder separation already happens in that split of a second or not? Because the torso move immediatly as a follow up or not?

    • @volleyball.university
      @volleyball.university 5 місяців тому

      Correct, you first create the hip shoulder separation which will create a rubber band like stretch across the body and that produces the power

Especially mizuno produced some really great shoes in there latest wave models so I challenge you to check them out. I can see the criticism towards the limited design options tho.

    hey i’m worried that on my school team a setter from a rival club vb team might possibly set me bad on purpose to make me look bad to coaches. There is tension between us already and i’m worried about this. What advice do you have if this does end up happening during tryouts and the season?

    • @volleyball.university
      @volleyball.university 6 місяців тому

      Tough situation here. Is there any chance you and the setter can make amends and get on the same page? Sometimes it just comes down to having a conversation. I'm guessing you both want the same thing (a successful highschool season) so it might be worth talking to them

    Just a small correction on the physics. It doesn't really rely on contacting the top of the ball, but rather to have the direction of force to be missing the center of the ball in the back-top direction. That is how you can hit it upwards and still get top spin. The way I do it is to make the final arm extension much later so that my arm is still extending as I hit the ball. To learn, it can be exaggerated as shot put up the back of the ball. Then you bring it back towards a normal arm whip swing, making sure your full extension is after the contact point. The slight upward force on the back to top of the ball (missing the center) creates the spinning force and the finger extension / snap directs all that force forwards and down. In the end, you have what looks like a normal swing but with just a slight difference. in the extension point.

    Be careful, If you dont have enough external arm rotation flexibility this can cause you to strain the muscles the in the shoulder. More specifically the Subscapularis.
