This is fantastic, not exactly what I'm looking for but there are several things here I can incorporate with other techniques that should give me what I'm looking for. 10/10 for the explanation on each step. I was never confused on what you were doing (I'm not a painter, just doing a single project, so these were very clear instructions that really help).
Aww, thank you so much for letting me know! 🤗 I'm glad to hear that this tutorial gave you confidence. Have you started a tree painting in the meanwhile?
Your video is very helpful, thank you. I just started painting with water mixable oils and looking for ways to paint a tree trunk. Subscribed! Hope to learn more from you.😍
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you! So awesome that you started painting with water mixable oils! Do you like them? Yeyy, so happy to have you here!🙏🏻 Is there something you have in mind that you'd like to learn? ☺️
You are amazingly talented...thank you ,if I can pull off your technique this will be an answer to my problem eating a really large tree that I am working on I studied other videos but yours really stands out I would have to say perfection thank you
The forest is turning out to be magical 🌸. Someday I will learn the superhuman talent of mixing colors 😁. We would like to see whatever you paint next. Sceneries and abandoned creepy houses are appreciated 😊
Nice, you're already seeing the magic! Can't wait to see the painting evolving. It's a surprise for me as well. Well, you'll learn it for sure. Do you want to know more about color mixing? I could do a video about it if you're interested. Thank you for your words. When you say abandoned creepy houses do you think about like old spooky houses like halloween ones or ancient stone ruin houses? 😊
@@CeciliaDietrichArt Stone ruin houses that are old are my favorite. I would like to learn more about color mixing and that would be great help for everyone too. If you could make a video sometime in the future, that would be great!🙏🌸
@@prazols7275 Nice, I already have a painting in mind with ruins. I love them as well cause they're so ancient and mysterious. I hope to paint that soon. Alright, thank you for this suggestion, I'll keep that one in mind and will do a video about it in the near future 😊🌸
Oh I'm happy to hear that! I'd love to see your tree. Can I? I didn't do a video on how to paint the background as the painting isn't done yet. It looks different now and honestly, I'm still working on that painting, I put it aside for quite a while. Would you like to learn how to paint this kind of background? Like a forest scenery? Thank you for being here, I appreciate! 🌷
Thank you for this video- just the kind of details I wanted ! I am going to try and reproduce the tree bark ! Newly Subscribed ! Also, can you please do video for painting a bird and feathers ? Thanks !
Thank you for being here, watching and subscribing. I appreciate🙏🏻 Have you already tried it out? Yes, I can do that, good idea. Do you have a specific bird in mind?
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I did try and struggled over it for hours and it looks somewhat decent, maybe. Not as good as yours ! Bark is difficult. My tree was curved so made it harder for me ! Any bird is ok - kingfisher, owl, hummingbird etc - with feathers on the wings and hair on the neck and underbody etc that we can paint realistically Thank you so much 🙏
Sure. You just need the right materials and maybe you want to paint the trunk a bit bigger, it depends on the dimensions of the wall. Also if it is in the very foreground you could also think about painting more details or other things like moss and lichens. What kind of wall painting do you have in mind? 🙂
Hi there. I missed your comment. So first I applied just brown for the mid tone of the tree bark and let it fully dry. Then I painted the darker areas and next to them the brighter ones and blended them gently. In this way they don't get mixed that much. Also I made sure that I had enough paint on my brush for the highlights and painted them on top with very little pressure. So when you layer make sure that the surface of the layer underneath is dry or that you apply the top layer with little pressure. Then it should work. Does that help? I think a video would be easier instead of writing that explanation😄
@@CeciliaDietrichArt Thank you so much for explaining that. It does make sense, I guess I just need a little more practise at it. This is one of those areas I am determined to get right, but still struggle with. Appreciate your response and the help. Take care ❤️

Hi there, how do you layer without it all just mixing together? Mine always seems to just melt into each other and making a hot mess

What exact colors did you use?
I used Water Mixable Oil Colours from Winsor & Newton. The tones are Ivory Black, Raw Umber, Raw Sienna and Titanium White.
