Laz ur us is the way it’s pronounced great video
I will never forget the Motorhead show. Met Lemmy, loudest show i have ever been to by a long shot.
Only in Cleveland can vandals break into a landmark building right near the justice center , absolutely embarrassing for law enforcement
Now owned by a jerk.
I went here too many times to count as a kid and young adult. So many good memories of time with family, friends and coworkers. It’s so sad how empty it’s become. It still looks very well kept up, which is kind of surprising when it’s so lacking tenants.
I wanna explore that place so bad but I don’t know if I’m willing to do an hour drive
As of today It's for sale for the low price of 1.2 Million. Still not fully remodeled.
Wow can’t believe it wow 😮 😂women I jus don’t get it 😩🤷🏽♂️
Not so fun facts: the Azana salon across the street as seen in the closing scene, was the site of a mass shooting in 2013, and the Sheraton hotel on the south side of the mall's parking lot was the site of a mass shooting in 2005.
Why do people have to graffiti everything that they see ?! It’s a shame.😢
@@frankwarkow4653 agreed. Thank you for watching tho!!!
shoes on a ledge...................
Idk why nobody bought it yet for apartments or hotels but continue to build 🤦🏿♂️
What time of day was this video shot? It looks like it's just after opening, probably on a weekday. Am I right? I see the early morning "mall walkers".
It was one of the nicest places to shop till the indescribable took it over just like the Flats. They made it so people were afraid to come downtown.
That's a building not a skyscraper 😅
This is disgraceful neglect.
I grew of age in that building. My family had the original Inner Lobby on the first floor in the seventies. My best friend's father owned the building, and we went through every nook and cranny of that old beast. I knew the custodians and the elevator operator. All good people, and the hundreds of tenants who came to us for food and beverages before the days of McStarbucks and panera. A few fourth of July's on the roof. I was a wild and very special time. It will be reborn, again, but its best days are behind it. The next tenants will need deep pockets. I also had the Lincoln Inn in the 75 building on public square until 1999. We left because that building needed infrastructure repairs that the owners were unwilling to invest in. It slowly crumbled over the next ten years, then shut down completely. Years later it is finally renovated into apartments, but it took a while, and they can't land a restaurant.
This was actually really cool. I have walked and driven past this building many times and always wondered what was up with it.
When I first got my license, I used to come out here all the time. It was super busy, especially the food court. Sometimes it was hard to find a table. Going to the arcade they had next to it, checking out Lids, hot topic, and a few other stores with my buddy while we looked for girls to talk to. It was such an awesome time. It’s crazy how dead this place has become. It definitely looked like this the last time I came here. It peaked in the 90’s and 2000’s, no doubt.
To me the building is def an eye sore
I was the GM of barrio downtown a couple years ago and they were renovating the building I thought 🤔 now I want to go take a gander myself
Interesting fact the building is in the spot of a former famous Cleveland Hotel the Wendell House where Abraham Lincoln stopped on his way to his second inauguration. There is a plaque on the outside of the building commemorating this event. On another note my great grandfather owned a shoe store in Downtown Cleveland and John Rockerfeller stopped in and bought some shoes. My great grandfather never cash ed the check used to pay and kept it . The check was passed down through the family and I now own it. It’s a cool piece of history to own!
My attorney used to be there on the 15 th floor. They moved out a year or so ago. I can’t believe everyone moved out of the building or even why they did…?? It’s across the street from the State building. Used to photograph from their floor.
I worked on the 16th floor 1988 to 1995!!!!
I’ve been wondering when someone would find a way into that place and put it on UA-cam? I used to live near that mall and even a few years ago it was basically a ghost town. That mall hasn’t thrived since the late 2000’s. It all started with a stupid youth escort policy and stupid rent a cops harassing people who were clearly of age. After that…stores started leaving and by 2015 the place was in big trouble.
Thank you for watching and sharing your stories!
Seems like an Intel or storage building. It received new windows and Mason work. Cleve has apartment shortages, overpriced housing and increasing homeless. Lets renovate more unused office space! Being superior to them matters. Act like you know. To bad struggling 9to 5 your on your own again.
Malgré que beaucoup de choses ont été vandalisées, taguees, volées il y a de beaux restes, à côté des ascenseurs, le marbre blanc sur les murs, la partie banque
You would think there would be marble companies paying to get in there and removing all the marble, sanding them and re use.. You could make 100's of luxury kitchens and baths with full marble from all those floors of it
It should be used for housing the homeless and vets
What are the owners going to do with it now?
Your drone is beyond line of site. .... this is illegal.
Are those walls marble?
The top floor has all the old vaults. When I worked in that building each office had a few for storage. The original bottom floor is below street level now and they closed it off and set up the one they show here with the three elevators.
So I’m 58 now. Back in the 80’s I worked at 12th & Superior. Drove by this every day. I was never in it. Back then thinking these buildings are so old.. Like some others with all of that old marble, In a negative way I guess. Then in later years when shopping down there, I would always park in that little parking lot along side of it. It was cheaper there than across the street at the time lol. Still never in it. Now that I’m older, you appreciate it so much more . Wishing I had been in it, knowing what I know now. Cleveland had so much history. As for a homeless shelter. Only problem is, I don’t go down there anymore to shop. In the summer I like to go walking in the square and I can’t without being followed by them. Once I had to have an officer walk me to my car. It’s sad but true. Not exaggerating . I sure would love to have someone make ma a marble kitchen counter out of that marble if they should throw some out. I can’t afford it. Which is why I would slip money over to a homeless one
Afterwards...they all got arrested 💩🤣💩
At 5:51. What building is that on top of? Cause wow! Lol
Imagine when this building was being built--and then what those builders would have thought of it in its present state. The craftsmen, steelworkers, masons, painters, carpenters--all spinning in their graves.
Went to see an attorney here in 2018…. Seemed ok then, just an old office building…. Crazy they let it go so fast
would be a cool place to live off cheap rent but you couldnt imagine the unstable living conditions. lol
I’m surprised a building in that location sits vacant with the downtown revitalization. Especially with how much of downtown was fixed up and some projects in the works.
I didn’t even realize this was vacant now. They tagged the sh!t out of that bldg lol. The marble is beautiful still. The shot on the roof was an awesome view of Cleveland. My anxiety went up watching that part 😂 cool video
Right? Had no idea it was vacant now
OF?
Had no idea this was abandoned
And why doesn't the Rockefeller Family come back to renovate/restore this building? Or did they abandon the building and the city of Cleveland like all the other spoiled ungrateful decedents of so many other historic family names in America?
In the 70's and 80's this was the place to be! Center mall area had numerous water fountains and sculptures. The string cylinder with the oil droplets descending each string at a slightly different rate was memorizing to watch. The new design does look nice, clean and modern, but is no longer unique. The best store in the mall by fall was Hobby Horse! As a kid in the 70's they had everything - slot cars, trains, plastic model kits of cars, truck, ships, tanks - you name it. They even had model rockets and engines!
i used to go here constantly ☹☹☹
I work on this place. Super crappy inside
What do you do for work in there?
Did you guys ever come across that casket in the basement that was locked? Last time there was one but it was locked and we couldn’t open it. Thanks for the video!
Surprised to see it already in this state. Probably 5-6 months ago I was buying auctioned off items from various tenants in that building. Guess it never got renovated after kicking everyone from it. I loved the old school elevators
I don’t know what to say, I’m totally shocked at all the stores that are closed! I use to work at Taco Bell which is no longer in the food court from 1998 to 2002 I was in high school at the time and it was so much fun! I go to Brookfield a few times a year but mainly for the restaurants outside like bravo, and bar Louie and the Marcus movie tavern! This mall will always be special to me!
