It is not always easy to assist aging parents. We have many kids with aging parents who need our assistance to create legal documents like power of attorney since their parents don’t feel they need help and yet they really do.

Today is the 12 of October and I miss you so much. I’m a your proud mom. You were so brave.

At times like this words often fail us. I am hesitant to write anything here - Yes it is ok to take care of yourself. God can always handle our doubts. I will continue to pray you are covered by the grace and peace of God. And that in the coming days you will sense his grace and peace and a real and tangible way.

Dear Tessera, this may sound as a cliché but only Jesus can heal your broken heart. But not through knowledge, or even the fact that you believe that. Apologetics is wonderful and an important way to defend the faith, especially in the time where we are living with atheism and science. But God wants to be so much more to you than facts that you know and believe. I always say, God is a heart God, He wants to connect with you ( us) from the heart and wants us to have real experiences of His love and peace . So real that you FEEL love, peace and comfort. You know that both you and I come from the same church background. There was almost only emphasis on performance and hardly on God's love for His children. But that's the most important thing to know about God! That He IS love and wants to fill you with it. And with that peace that is beyond human understanding ( Philippians 4: 7) . Even now, yes especially now that you need it so desperately. I encourage you to share your heart and pain with your heavenly Father who is waiting for you and always ready to comfort and help you. When I completely surrendered my life to the Lord, even though I was born again many years earlier in 1981, I got so filled and overwhelmed with the love of God that it felt as getting born again again. That same love is available for you Tessera because God loves us all the same and He has no favorites. He is waiting and longing for you to come, to pour out His healing power and love in your heart Sorry for the long comment, but I just wanted to share this with you because I feel much love and compassion for you.

May the Lord comfort you during these times

To clarify, I meant that I stayed with Gert after he died until people from the mortuary took him away from me for a couple of hours. They brought him to my house after that where I washed and clothed him and sat next to him until we had to bury him.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Praying God gives you strength. If you desire to continue the journey your husband started here I’ll be here with you. You are taking the right steps so far I think. Sharing the things he started and completing them may give you a sense of him still being with you and a sense of fulfillment. Im soooo sorry. May the God of all comfort give wrap you in His loving arms.

I'm sorry for your loss. God bless you. I wonder if you believe that God knew the time and day and how your husband would pass. I think it's safe to say that God was not surprised as in the sense that nothing can catch Him off guard as He is omniscient. However, God is also omnipotent - He is all powerful and He could have prevented your husband from passing, or in this case, I believe God allowed it to happen. I don't want to debate you on this point at all. I know you are mourning, but I thought perhaps this could be a point of comfort and not a point of conflict. Why can't we say it was God's will in this sense: God didn't desire for your husband to suffer and die, but it was God's will in the sense that He allowed it. For instance, was it God's will for His Son to be tortured and crucified on the cross? This was the greatest act of evil in human history - to crucify the sinless Son of God. God does not desire to see His Son tortured and killed but nevertheless, it was ultimately God's will. It was God's plan of redemption unfolding - He allowed it to happen, He let it happen, He decreed it happen. And nothing could have stopped this from happening, not the devil, not human free will, not natural circumstances. I comfort in this: God is in control, He is sovereign, and we can trust Him not matter what comes our way. Perhaps your husband did not die out of chance or because he had bad luck or because life is simply unfair. I exhort you to reflect more on this and perhaps you can find some more comfort and encouragement, that death and evil is not God's rival or His equal. God stands above it all as He holds all authority under heaven and on earth. That mighty and truly omnipotent God is with you and He is for you. He is truly working all things together for your good (Rom 8:28) because He actually have all the power and control to do so and sustain you. God bless you sister.

Dear Tessera, making this video must have been very very difficult for you, yet you did it. Although I am more or less a stranger to you and therefore it may sound weird, I still will say it: I am proud of you! Because you have shown courage in this and it's beautiful to see how much you and Gert loved each other and that you ( of course!)want to keep all the great memories alive. So keep sharing about Gert and you. On the other hand don't feel pressure or an obligation to continue with what Gert did and step in his footsteps with his aplogetic ministry. Unless it is your own desire of course. But God has given you and Gert some same and some different gifts and talents. To share with the world for His glory. Gert will never be forgotten by the people that loved him, you don't have to worry about that. I hope that you are surrounded with family and friends that you can lean on as much as you need that. Tessera, thank you for sharing Gert’s funeral with us. You are one of a kind. God chose you out of all others to be Gert’s inner strength and resolve, but most importantly, the love of his life. Trust in the Lord always, for in the Lord Jehova, is your everlasting strength. Isaiah 27-3 I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace.
