Richly fermented, straight Virginia in a fine ribbon cut. The process used to produce the tobacco creates a natural tea-like tin aroma and results in a natural-tasting tobacco that has a mellow sweetness and subtle aroma. In spite of the gentle flavor, this is a very robust blend best enjoyed after a meal. 0:00 Intro 0:18 Housekeeping Old German Clay Cutty 1:24 Tin opening 2:05 Thoughts on Dunh...

    Thank you for the tips. A few of these I already knew from my days as a cigar smoker, but I definitely picked up a some new bits. I tend to retrohale way too much and need to tone it down. It also causes me to get sore sinuses from the smoking passing through. I've been saying I want to join a pipe club for a while. There is one about 45 minutes away I might try to catch one month soon. Cheers!

    Thank you buddy. These are very good points ❤ I have noticed with some aromatics (generally I don’t smoke aromatics) that the toppings are downgraded a bit after a couple of years the blend ages in the jar, and then you can taste little more the real tobacco underneath - of course aging Virginias and other non-aromatics is something I do intentionally, but my aromatics generally sit for much longer in the jar as I don’t reach them often, thereby I noticed for some of them they do smoke better after a couple of years.

      Only the bowl on the clay pipe gets hot, you just need to hold it by the stem. The mouth piece will taste a little like clay but otherwise it's enjoyable once in a while.

    Hiyas Jonathon, I've got a couple of clay pipes that I should smoke more often. I really do appreciate and enjoy their cool, dry smoking attributes. I have discovered that I like the tavern style best since it's longer and more comfortable to hold. It's fun and interesting to smoke those old, sadly discontinued blends, if they're tasty it's also bittersweet. Serene smokes Gary

      The clay is nice and so dry, didn't need a single pipe cleaner ever after back to back bowls. I'm trying to get thru many of my older and gifted tins, this one was Christmas exchange from my old pipe club. The longer pipes are a bit more cumbersome for me, between 5-6" is perfect. Take care my friend.

  • @neuralglitch
    @neuralglitch 28 днів тому

    That tin aroma you described plus the flavor profile sounds like a blend I could enjoy. I’ve never smoked a clay pipe but I imagined the heat wouldn’t have much to get absorbed into. Probably a nice feature if it’s cold outside. Thanks for the review. Cheers!

    I have taken some elective philosophy course at college (studied engineering), but before that i got a strong dose of philosophy (and literature, they are often overlapping) as Greek graduating from Greek education system 😂😂 I’m not sure why your blend got little cavedish-y, I have not tried it before, but I could only think that it got too sugary/mellow? (loosing the water, the evaporation process recrystallizes somewhat the tobacco), not sure …. But for some other vapers I have noticed some little aging tones down some flavors of the perique as well. Nice to see your video and the happy dogs around. My wife and I we rescue hamsters and have a few as pets, but also were foster parents of some hamster until she found her new home. Fostering is also very nice experience. Greetings.

    I just put the jar in the crock pot. As long as it doesn’t float and tip over it’s fine. You may not need that much time to rehydrate. This is how I make cavendish from whole leaf. I have done invert sugar cased burley for six hours for a brown cavendish and a Virginia for eight hours with the same casing for a black cavendish. I’m leaving out the pressing details here but yes that crock pot is handy. I have toasted stems for a HDToast snuff with amazing results and am tempted now to toast some Burley for a pipe blend. Cheers!

    Hiyas Jonathon, I agree that once a tobacco dries out it's not really possible to restore it to its original gravity. Some essentials are gone. It's good to dive back into something of substance!! Critical thinking takes a major hit and a backseat in modern times. Too many sidetracks and b.s. nonsense attracts and diverts our attention these days. Good on yas! Serene smokes my friend. Please give Oscar and Pinky a pet on the head for me. Nellie says woof! Smoke screens and diversion is the order of the day.
