Hey I got your request to add some insight into the video you made. Here it goes. Overall, your presentation is accurate, but it's important to emphasize the depth and breadth of the cybersecurity field beyond what you’ve outlined. While network engineering primarily focuses on infrastructure, cybersecurity delves deeply into software, coding, and more intricate aspects of digital defense. Expert penetration testers and bug bounty hunters often possess fluency in multiple programming languages, as much of hacking is done via code. Theres thousands of lines of code in software and securing all of it is TOUGH. Unless there's a zero-day exploit, well-secured infrastructure remains impervious to breaches. Some security positions that are software related are Application Security Engineer, Security Software Developer, DevSecOps Engineer, Penetration Tester, etc, etc. Network engineering provides a solid foundation for entering the cybersecurity realm. However, cybersecurity encompasses such a vast array of knowledge that those who excel often have diverse backgrounds. Former hackers or individuals who have extensively engaged with various technologies typically stand out. Networking is a distinct discipline, but consider someone who has mastered multiple programming languages (especially C++), understands networking, has experience provisioning and supporting diverse infrastructure, knows Linux, has set up websites, held various security positions, and possesses hacking skills. Such a person, with 10-20 years of experience, will have the most comprehensive knowledge base for cybersecurity. Moreover, cybersecurity generally offers greater job security than networking. Even during budget cuts, security funding tends to remain robust. Network roles have evolved and will always be there but the job pool isn't what it once was, and the job pool for cybersecurity is getting larger, at least for now. In terms of compensation, network engineering roles typically pay 5-15% less on average compared to other IT niches. High-end cybersecurity positions, across the board, tend to command higher salaries than their network engineering counterparts. While there are certainly security roles with comparable pay to network roles, cybersecurity positions can pay more than a network role of equivalent rank. I hope this provides the clarity and depth you were seeking.

Tons of security threats exploit network protocols and configurations. Dismissing Networking in Cybersecurity is like being a fireman who doesn't know how to use a hose . You're just playing with water while the 🔥 🔥 grow. So good luck making it to the finish line keeping things "secure" by pulling tricks on yourself 🎉

I said this in another video, I will say it here. Being a network engineer, the amount of network jobs used to be massive and well paid in 2000-2008 but have shrank by a giant amount due to cloud, SDN, automation, and outsourcing. You used to be able to get 100k a year job with a CCNA, now that just gets interviews and if you land it, its only 60k. Covid only made it worse. Lots of Cisco certs used to populate the top 15 highest paid but almost all but one has fallen off and now the CCNP barely hangs on at number 14/15. If you are new to IT and thinking about getting into networking, realize that you are joining a field that is saturated with a bunch of people with 10-30 years experience in networking and you are competing with them over a smaller amount of jobs. Searching indeed and monster for CCNP and CCIE brings dismal results while searching for AWS brings 2000+ job postings back easy. CCNA brings eh...ok results. It’s hard to get a network job that pays 125k a year and it requires advanced level certifications while with cloud jobs, the jobs ON AVERAGE pay 125k a year with associate level certs. Network roles pay around 5-15% less on average than other tech niches. There are less remote network jobs vs other tech roles. The majority of opportunity in IT lies in cloud, security, data analysis, project management, software development, and software testing. Not networking.

My personal opinion is CCNP ENCOR + any cloud Networking ex. like aws Specialty would be more than enough. I mean, if you go aws it will be more useful to do aws Networking Speciality + ENCOR for example than go for ENCC. Don't see the reason at ENCC in that case.

    • @StyxShow

The comparison discussed in the video is ENARSI or ENCC. One valid reason in taking concentration exam is to be CCNP.

    • @SVestor

@@StyxShow Yeah, I understand , watched the video. It makes sense if the point or probably main priority is to be the fully completed ccnp. Then no doubt, go for any of these. However, from the cloud networking perspective , if the main goal is to go along with a cloud, then a professional Network cloud exam gives you more flexibility. It is also nicely matches with Cisco as well as both of them complete with each other. Anyway, actually after all, if you go for a cloud then you should complete this Network Professional for the cloud. This was the main idea 💡 of mine :)

I think that it sort of goes like.... You will most likely see Windows Server in your career. You will most likely not see Cisco iOS in your career. However, you will see a lot of WiFi.

Not always true. There are more Linux servers than windows servers in the world. For Cisco iOS. Lets say 10% (more or less) is network if you are talking about general IT. And there are many Network OS out there. It can be true. However, not true if you are working in Infrastructure. Thanks for sharing
