CAROLINA, COLORADO, PHILLIPINES & the rest. This comment is for you. Somehow just saw this! I got really emotional when he is talking about his family and gets emotional. I know a lot of people back home with differing opinions about you, my brother. Even though you’re gone, I still want to say to anyone who thinks they know you because they did 40 years ago or just met you. They have no idea of who you were. no matter where are you moved even overseas. We always talked for hours on the phone.. I could always count on you even though you were in the Philippines and I haven’t seen you face-to-face for years and check on me. When friends that live 15 minutes from me never even say hello.. If Julian was is your friend you had a friend indeed. I never had to wonder I never second-guess your loyal undying brotherly friendship. I was rebuking someone yesterday. You had a certain opinion of you that they formulated 30 or 40 years ago. I told them you were a man of the highest character who has made mistakes. I want to tell you he learned from his mistakes and he did things different. The next time he was tackling the same task. He reinvented himself so many times that to most people he is an enigma. I remember in the early 90s he went with my dad to Colorado on a hunting trip. Jules didn’t hunt. While dad hunted, he roamed through the beautiful Colorado woods and even wilderness. This trip was coming the coming together of two worlds. Juells being the Rebel Who was defiant to authority And occasionally fractured, a law or 2 and my father, who was chief of police for all of those years in the same town. I remember even then people scratching their head at their friendship. Yes my dad was a straight arrow by the book no nonsense United States, Marine, and 25 year police chief after. But he knew character. He knew the difference between bad choices and bad people. While on the trip Juells Said I’m going back home and packing my stuff and moving here to Colorado. Of course, none of us believed him. I don’t think he was even back in South Carolina a week before he had sold off everything and packed his stuff and was headed west. That sounds strange to most of us because we plan we think and we talk ourselves out of living life to its fullest. Not him no way no how no circumstance even logic and good reason would stop him once he had his mind made up on something. Same thing happened some years later. He called and said I’m moving to the Philippines. Well, I talked to him a week before he had mention anything about the Philippines and now all of a sudden you’re gonna move to the Philippines.. well that’s exactly what he did. Back-and-forth several times for years and each place. He Started a whole new life and family with his wife Richie. He was regretful about mistakes he had made with his first set of children, and he was adamant to have a mended relationship with them. And not have the same regrets with Elvis, Princess and Jammer. One thing I can definitely tell you if you knew him at all you know that this man Truly loved his family. We would talk about all kinds of subjects, but when he would talk about one of his the tone of his voice change. The cadence in which he spoke changed. They were his life. His flesh and blood, but mostly his heart. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has Unforgettable impression he left on my life. Sometimes we talked like elder to learner. Other times like peers but always like brothers. I miss you, my friend. I’ve never met anyone like you and I’m sure I never will again. One of a kind , jester, scholar, world, traveler, master builder, carpenter, and Mason. Philosopher, theologian, redneck, mountain man, beach, bum, rockstar, life of the party, best friend, keeper of wisdom, spreader of joy, a friends, friend, a man’s man Father, Brother, husband, and many many more things….. My world is a little duller without you, brother. last thing INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY !!!
