Hypnotik Lightweight Gi Review
Purchase Here: bit.ly/1WdDSBJ
This is a review of the lightweight, a a competition gi by Hypnotik. The jacket is a 450
gram pearl weave paired with a rubberized collar covered in rip stop, and the pants are 10
oz rip stop. This IBJJF approved gi comes in white and black, weighs 3lbs 13 oz and
retails for $99.99 on bjjwarehouse.com
Design
Design elements on the lightweight are simple and clean and done in bright yellow.
Hyperlite is spelled out in yellow stitching on the right shoulder, and the left arm has a
small monkey head in yellow and white. The Hypnotik logo along with a feather runs
across the upper back. A nice touch that I think looks really good is the yellow and white
taping that is sewn along the outer edge of the jacket.
Design on the pants is minimal, limited to a small yellow patch and a yellow rope
drawstring. Yellow seam tape is sewn into the inside cuff of the pants as well.
I like the simple, clean overall look of the gi.
Fit and Feel
I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs, and the A2 fit me pretty well out of the bag. The sleeve length was a
touch long for me, but after a cold wash and cycle through the dryer, the shrinkage solved
that. As usual with ripstop, shrinkage in the pants length was minimal. The Lightweight
comes in 10 different sizes so finding one that fits you shouldn’t be too tough.
Pearl weave and ripstop gis will never win awards for comfort, especially when compared
to gold weaves, hemp and bamboo, but that’s not much of a concern for most people.
The lighter weight and cooler rolling temperatures are the positive trade offs.
Build Quality
The Lightweight has the standard side vent, armpit and crotch reinforcements along with
triple stitching throughout the major stress areas. The lack of contrast stitching makes any
errors unnoticeable, but a close inspection showed true lines throughout the gi. The
taping along the outside of the jacket and in the sleeve and pant cuffs was done really
well.
In Action
The Lightweight’s tapered fit works well while rolling. I didn’t feel any hang ups or tight
spots from any position. I felt mobile and able to move easily. The rip stop collar makes
popping grips simple, which is always nice when dealing with chokeloving opponents.
It’s a personal preference, but I always like rip stop pants. After a long training session, I
just don’t like swampy pants, and the rip stop material takes care of that.
Conclusion
The Lightweight is a solid offering for the bargain hunter. It comes in a bunch of sizes, is
well made, has a nice look and rings in at the sub $100 mark. The price point makes it a
great choice for the beginner, but you could also easily use this as a competition gi. Great
allaround offering from Hypnotik.

Badger Original Kimonos Stinger Gi Review
Now I know where Art of Jiujitsu got their academy name from 2:40
I hope wherever you are you are happy healthy and still rolling bjj warehouse
I heard it heats up fast?
I used to have this Gi in black, but it didn’t fit me so I gave it away, but I kept the Gi pants because they still fit me well.
R.I.P BJJ Warehouse.
Thanks for your advice! UA-cam needs more gi reviews!
I have had this Gi for close to 5 years and still love it - I saw this review before buying it - thanks 🙏
Can this gi be used for judo? I started okinawan jujitsu and I need a tough gi. I'm hoping that this gi will last me awhile considering I will be thrown alot.
Nice sweep
great video
Muito top. Tenho um desse preto, muito lindo, diferente pra caramba, por causa dos bordados na calça ser de personagens da mitologia japonesa.
so if i cold wash & air dry it, will it not shrink as much?
I’ve had this Gi for about 4 years now & it has held up well, just a little faded but still looks very cool. I do have 2 Vulkan Gi’s as well though so they absorb a lot of the wear & tear.
I tried smoking the gi when I was done with it, gave me terrible cough
Its a good kimono,
Always wondered why BJJ gi's look like Nascar suits?
Who's the girl you roll with in your videos?
New logo Like ss logo 😥
i am 184cm and 76 kg, should i buy A2L?
Same here bro. Did you pick the A3?
When you say machine dry what heat setting you using ? My weight and height is exactly the same as yours so I plan to get a A2 too. And I wanna use the dryer because I just don't got time to hang dry it. But I really don't want to shrink it too much from the dryer.
tbh i have the armadura but i prefer the secret weapon 2.0
I have a serious question. How come no one who practice bjj know how to tie their belts so that each ends are equal
Venum shinks soooooooo bad worst gi I've ever had
Single weave for over 200$. I'll pass.
nice, going to get black
I'm hoping your a black belt by now?! Great review
what is the difference between a Ju jitsu traditional gi and BBJ gi ... thanks ....... I went to a ju jitsu school and i was the only student but the teacher seems a nice guy and hes a 5th dan ( the school is out of the way near an airport and covered in road works )° should i go back ?
Gotta know if you kept up with doing bjj?
So glad I've orderd Flow hemp Gi!
Don't get this gi if you are small man/woman. It's big. I wasted my money. Barely shrinks after so many hot drys and washes. I'm supposed to be an a1, but should have gotten an a0 for this gi.
Like That...
I hear those ripstop gi tops are like wearing a plastic bag and dont breath well at all
I just bought two sets. A black and a white one straight from Hayabusa since it was on sale. I got the older version because 2 and 3 has waaaay to many patches on it. When I started to see the big patch on the back I went to look for something else. I was lucky to find these two colors in my size.
Good video
I'm selling a gi from the same line here! m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Moyabrand-California-son-Brazilian-jiu-jitsu-gi-suit-white-/192028399773?nav=SELLING_ACTIVE
como faço pra adquirir???
Eu também quero um
Nice review. Thanks!
too bad its 140 in Aus but imma still get it.
Ok... I'm 5'11 and 140 lbs should I get an A2 or A3? Thanks.
John Wick A3 I have this gi and I'm 5'11" 160 LBS. The gi shrinks and I feel the jacket shrunk too much by 2 inches. The sleeves on this gi feel short for me.
John Wick I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs. I have an A2, and it fits perfectly. I'd suggest hanging it out to dry after washing to avoid shrinking the fabric. It'll also last longer.
Angelo, really? According to their chart size you should have A2H. A2 is up to 5'9 and up to 170 lbs. I'm 6" and 160 lbs, thinking about A2L but I'm not sure anymore.
Aomori Axe what size gi do you have ?
@@Clownofcolor A2
I prefer to roll naked.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Lol
cinnamon rolls 😂😂😂
1st review- '' I'm 5ft,8in 145lbs '' 2nd review- '' I'm 5ft,8in 160lbs '' 3rd review- '' I'm 5ft,8in 165lbs '' Loving the reviews! im binge watching em..now if i can only pick a damn gi
Inches?
a true classic indeed
Just picked up the Goorudo 2! I can't wait to roll in it.
damm that lady moves like a black belt..
How does this gi fit? On the bigger side? Roomy side?
just ordered one, i hope it fits right lol.
Great review man I weigh pretty much the same at you but i'm 6ft you said you have the A1 so i Should probably get the A2 this is such a nice looking gi i love hayabusa fightwear
Hey man, quick question. How did/does the A2 fit? I'm 6.2 ft 165 pounds. Looking to buy, thx!
Outstanding Gi , I loved it so much I brought another.
I love Gold weave Gi's. They are soooo comfy. But man do they shrink over time. Even if you Cold wash and hang dry every time, it will shrink. Sad.
