Kristin Hannah’s THE WOMEN …Vietnam? Or VietNAH?
Nah no thanks. Bring back asylums.
I think red herrings are important
Yes! But this book had more ‘pink herrings’ than red ones. 😂
Hey, new glasses. Looks good, compliments your hair color. 🙂 This sounds like a fun novel, by the way.
Thanks so much! 👓❤️👓
Do you prefer just straight narration of the books or do you like dramatisations? I just found out that there's a dramatisation of Bram Stoker's Dracula with Tim Curry playing Van Helsing, which I think it going to be amazing, but I recently listened to an abridged version of Dracula read by the late Christopher Lee and it was excellent to hear him doing all the different character voices. I guess I'm just looking for your opinion on which would be better? I think?
I think it totally depends! Sometimes I find narrators doing too much change for a particular character to be distracting. I find full cast recordings to be great but I think I prefer and full commitment single narrators to be my favorite - like Jim Dale reading Harry Potter. Other examples of my preference would be Michael Kramer reading Tress of the Emerald Sea or Samuel West reading Impossible Creatures. As far as Dracula is concerned, I’m not sure what would be better but both seem to be great options! Let me know which you like better!
@@Spineless_Books thanks, I'll give the full dramatisation a shot and let you know
@TepidShambles awesome, can’t wait to hear what you think!
Your thumbnail made me think this was going in a different direction. :D This doesn't sound like a book I would read, so I really appreciate your opinions!
I love that you put the covers on the screen! It made it so easy to follow along with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate you!
You said it’s his first novel! It’s a memoir.
Yes… I was referring more to the length of the book than the style. He’s written a TON of poetry but never a book. While memoir would’ve been a more accurate descriptor, my goal was to communicate that it’s his first book, rather than his usual poems. That’s for the catch!
Hello, I just finished this book and have been looking for a review opinion. I like to go into a book blind as well. I was absolutely surprised how fast this book read. It was so relevant to what women are going through today. This book was absolutely fascinating, harrowing, and as you said it was so intense. This is my nominee for Book of the Year at BOTM. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Elizabeth
That’s fabulous! I’m in total agreement. It’s not subject matter that I normally gravitate to and I loved every minute of it. So glad you enjoyed!
Will wheaten crushes, and no ‘no pun intended’ disclaimer 😂
Hello, I am reading The Frozen River now and am enthralled. I do think this will be a Book of the Year nominee for BOTM. Thank you for your review!
So glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
I can see how recycling domestic content can start to feel like its unraveling the same lessons over and over again… I’m curious what was the biggest difference between the male and female perspectives?
Unfortunately, I didn’t get far enough along in Intermezzo to answer that but I can say that I think she writes male and female perspectives well.
I can agree with this statement
Have you read The Beetle by Richard Marsh? It also had different genres in it. The book is written from the viewpoint of 4 people, and every one of these four has a different genre. There's Horror, there's humor and a detective part (I forgot the fourth). I quite liked it. It was published at the same time as Dracula and at the time it even out sold Dracula. I think most databases have The Beetle categorized as horror though.
I haven’t… I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!
That's great.
So cool!!!🎉
Heyy, i loved the house in the cerulean sea soo soo much!! And I’m so exited for the next book in the series, but I have one question because you read the book: Does this book contain spicy scenes? Or do Arthur and Linus get closer in a sexual way? Thanks for your response ❤
I would say their love/closeness as a pair and as parents grows, but I would say it’s far from spicy. :)
Trying to be Vsauce ahh video
This is so sweet. It's like watching a baby suddenly becoming aware of its toes.
It IS a stunning passage. A very powerful one. I'm so grateful to have discovered your channel! I'll add this book to my TBR immediately!
Thanks so much!!! ❤️

I did that with Twilight, read the books first, then watched the movies, and regretted it.😢
So true❤
I liked it
Love your outtro 💜📚
Thanks so much!!!! 🥰
3:07 - lol nope it was too little too late. Only kept readung as it was a buddy read. So much wasted potential Elspeth i just do not like, she is ebtitled, a crap friend, and ignores the only interesting character - the Nightmare. #teamnightmare The ending would have been incredible, if I wasn't already so disillusioned by chatacters that were so bland and missed opportunities Misses opportunity 1 - Elspeth abd cousin relationship, are they friends, should she give up and loose her cousin (remind me to never be her BFF as she'll drop you like a snotty tissue) is her cousin actually on her own path to save the kingdom - but we get no time to explore this because Elspeth is too busy running away, lying, getting huffy and flirting Missed opportunity 2 - The prince as the villain has 0 power the "good guys" solve the problem and he has to knuckle down so ultimately i am not scared and there is no threat Missed opportunity 3 - Staying in the palace, would have been perfect for tension, what if she bleeds and they see her blood. The different leanings of the politics, the hidden infected relation etc. Nope jolly hideout manner for a naff romance instead. Missed opportunity 4: the nightmare building a trust and relationship with Elspeth beyond her demand for power and imnediate "i hate you, don't talk to me". What a user. Every intrigue convesatuon we coyld have had, is shut down because she gets stroppy or scared. I wish we built up that trust, so i actually cared and then the reveal would have shook me and given me feelings. But i am glad you broke through that with the plot, hope 2nd book works and is an improvement. 💜📚
These are so spot on! I love the “oh hey, new family that I’ll cling to while I ignore my own”. I won’t give the second book as long of a chance as I did this one though, that’s for sure.
@Spineless_Books 😆😆😆 exactly - but bk 2 might be more interesting as well... SPOILER ...Elspeth is no longer there so hope protagonist is the nightmare 😉😆 Excited to hear your thoughts anyway💜📚
Here’s a recipe to make eggs with rocks: Blend up some rocks until you make fine powder and whisk it in with eggs. The consistency should be a little thicker than normal eggs and the color should be a brownish gray. Grab your pan, add some oil and cook on one side for one minute on medium low heat, then flip for another minute. Serve on a plate and enjoy
Lame-ish Fairy Tale - i'm in! 😂
😂😂😂 i clicked because i felt the same! I am here for your rage so i get the important validation! Keen for your thoughts 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Hahaha thanks
I tried this cause everyone was raving about it and “if you like for the wolf you’ll like this” (I loved for the wolf). i dnfed it. 😂
How far did you get? Cause I almost did that too!
@@Spineless_Books 50% Heres what i put in my review- 1) I finished For The Wolf before I picked this up, not knowing there was a comparison. When rereading the description before starting I did have apprehension about there being a similar premises. I really enjoyed For The Wolf, but this isn't hitting the same. I just wanted to throw that out there. 2) DNF @50%. Its too slow and filler content. I am intrigued about the possible story line but I'm bored. And the cringiness of the characters aren't helping either. 3) I do want to note I listened to the audiobook and very aware it can give a different experience. And this time I think its what may have killed my interest to go further. The narrator, while nothing wrong with her, just doesn't seem like a good fit. Looking at the writing and story, I feel if I had started physically reading it with my own interpretation of the voices, tone and pace, it might have been different.
@shainav3326 love this… I think I has similar feelings (particularly the cringe) but let public opinion push me through beyond that. Now you have me wondering about For The Wolf! Thanks for sharing!
@@Spineless_Books for sure! Id assume if you ended up liking ODW youll like FTW. I liked the audiobook and it was easy to switch back n forth from the audio to phyiscal reading. The sequel For the Throne is good as well. (Some small cringy obv trope in the beginning but its easy to get over)
@shainav3326 excellent, thanks!
What are books?
Have you eaten any bee nests? They’re really good

I regret to inform you there were no sandwiches in this book
It was definitely slow af. I'm with you it didn't pickup until 25 or 30 percent in. I ended up enjoying it but I don't read this genre often. Sounds like the slow pace isn't typical, so that's a relief.
I’ve been disappointed by the genre before but I’ve definitely read many that held my interest from the beginning - this wasn’t one of those. 👎🏻
I totally agree! I ended up rating it a 3.5 ⭐️ because I at least felt like the writing was good and all of the loose ends tied up nicely at the end, which is important to me. I also loved the female investigator and cared about her the most, and everybody else I was like okay they’re… also here. My only guess as to why people like this one so much is that they maybe don’t read this genre a ton so this it like a :O moment for them, and like, love that for them! But for me after reading a million of these I felt like this was just okay lol
Completely! The investigator was the only character who was developed - and she sticks out even though she wasn’t an amazing character! Guess the book had a lot of effective hype!
Thank goodness, I thought I was alone. I started coming up with theories as to thinking that characters had maybe swapped places lives. Certain lines repeated by different people made me see connections and I would get so excited… and then the revelations were just so… underwhelming. At least the ending made sense (which is more than I can say of some of the other “thrillers” that are out now) and the writing and characters were well developed.
I wasn’t unhappy with the conclusion but it could’ve practically been a short story without the repetition!
I swallowed 5 marbles yesterday.
I luv to eat chicken mcnuggets.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. Just my personal preference, so you can totally disregard but I would love to see you post the cover of the book up on the screen wile you're talking about them.
Great suggestion! Thanks so much! I’ll make sure I do then when I make videos about multiple books. :)
I'm totally on team Meh with this book and it's good to hear someone else who thinks so too! I found it incredibly tedious and especially the female characters were soooo passive, it made me crazy. I too started to like the female investigator, but then she was also so passive, it was maddening. I wish I could understand why people liked it so much!
Yes!! Such a mystery! Maybe people felt like it had a big twist? I think why people liked it is a significantly bigger mystery than the “mystery” in the book! Thanks for letting me know you agree - I appreciate it!
whats the fastest speed youve ever listened to an audiobook at?
Great question! It really depends on the narrator! With most average speed narrators, 1.25x-1.5x feels fast but acceptable. When a narrator is slow, I have cranked it up to 3x. Usually any higher than that is gibberish. I think the only full books I've listened to at 3x are the Elliot Page memoir, Pageboy and Solito by Javier Zamora. I disliked Pageboy but needed to read it and Solito was great but the narration was painfully slow.
Thanks, I did see the length of it and was turned off by that. I'm glad I didn't pursue that.
I just started listening to the audiobook and am really excited to see where the story goes ☺️ TJ Klune is one of, if not, my favorite author
Can’t wait to hear what you think… enjoy!
Your review absolutely elevates my excitement to read Somewhere Beyond The Sea. I can't wait
You’re gonna love it! (And thank you!)
Awww. Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed both of the Cerulean books! I'm excited for the world to meet David and hear the new adventure!

Millie Bobbie Brown in 10 years:
To answer your question; Most cosmere fans would say that you start with Mistborn trilogy and Warbreaker but Brandon Sanderson said that you can start with Tress of the Emerald Sea or Elantris because they are just "introductions" to let you know what to expect in in books. So there's no real answer. But you'll understand what to read next after reading another Sanderson book. Your instinct will take you there. Trust your instincts. Only things you have to know is that there are three published series and one collection of short stories; Mistborn 1st Era (trilogy), Mistborn 2nd Era (quadrilogy) and Stormlight Archives (planned 10 books but 4 books released so far and 5th book will be released this year). There's also a collection of short stories called, "Arcanum Unbounded" that's for strictly only "very experienced Cosmere readers." Because it contains certain spoilers and also uncovering untold stories parts of some books. I'd suggest you to not to read that book until you've read 60-70% of whole Cosmere. That's all you have to know. And what you choose to read depends on you. Don't forget to not to rush. You can take time 😊 Enjoy your journey!
This is awesome advice, thank you!
I disagree. I disliked the choices that Everett made for Jim's backstory.
Fair. What specifically?
@@Spineless_Books Like there was one scene in Huck where Jim was talking about how he regretted hitting his youngest daughter because she had been deafened and he didn't know. I wanted to have that talked about.
I know that scene… and I agree. I guess he had to pick and choose what he was going to use to support his message. Maybe that didn’t fit for Everett. 🤷🏻♀️
