Actually that’s the suction line that’s the return to compressor. The small capillaries tubes is what turns the liquid to a vapor. You can not pump a liquid. But you have a general idea.
Thank you! I shot this what seems like a long time ago
Actually I grow pot with it😂
🤷
I'm pretty sure this is a different variety of rockwool. They make theirs hydrophobic, which I believe is done with paraffin wax, so no roots in this stuff 😂
@@magnumjgjg 🙂
How do you guys cover the above grade insulation?
In this case, Dorken delta dry and lath and thin brick
Should the rockwool contact the cement? No fear of sweating and holding the moisture? I love rockwool and have a basement to finish in the next few months. Honest question. I was going to frame the walls with a 3/4” gap from framing to concrete but this has me questioning my approach
Rockwool is hydrophobic (water fearing). It doesn't wick water like fiberglass. This is comfort board, fyi, not comfort batt.
Awwwww❤
She's pretty awesome
I'm really looking for how it works - the thinking behind the heat exchange. does it work differently in summer or winter? And, where to look for info on knowing what settings are right for home conditions (people, closed windows, etc).
I recommend an indoor air monitor and adjust as needed. In general, the humidity during winter will be higher than straight exhaust or supply ventilation (that's a good thing) and vice versa in the summer.
there is no need to wet the substrate? also that's way too watery isn't it😅
No need to wet the substrate, and it will actually harden in wet conditions. It's not structural, really amazing product
I need those shorts brother where can I find myself a pair or what size are you we look about the same maybe I can come back to work for you man I’m not longer required to introduce myself to my neighbors when I first move in
They're Truewerk

You could use a mud hog machine to mix the concrete. Great job on mixing and placing the concrete.
One of my favorite quotes is, "There are five ways to do something. One of them is wrong." I like knowing the various ways of doing something but then committing and getting it done. Appreciate you.
Sometimes I need a job most of the time I’m on time. Hey listen I’m not good but I’m slow so what do you say are ya hiring?
🤔
@@PioneerBuildersInc I can build the shit out of anything ask your brother he loves my work
This really is awesome! Thanks. I want to build my own house or at least a majority of it someday so knowing all the processes are great. 2 years to get utilities in? Is that standard? Or because of the lessons to be learned? Also how much did this cost?
Thank you! Should I do a follow up with those details?
@@PioneerBuildersInc awesome! I would watch!
🙄 Absolutely impossible to find someone to explain the control setting.. I know how it works but what should the settings be in the summer, winter, humid days blah blah blah.... everyone just keeps beating around the bush sooooo frustrating 🤦♂️.
Buy an IAQ monitor and try different settings. Pressures are different throughout the year, and lifestyles are different. It should be adjusted to the fingerprint of your situation
I'm an HVAC tech since 1999 in Houston and for what you just said there's a lot of problems but that is maybe only climate and location specific.... I'm not going to address any of that I want to know what pants are you wearing in this video because they look like lightweight and stretchy yet durable pants and that is exactly what I'm looking for right now
I think those are the Cloud pants from Truewerk. You might check out their T1, T2, or T3 as they all have different characteristics.
Thanks 👍
The manual of the thermostat says that connecting a wired sensor will disable the onboard sensor in the 1050 and you can only re-enable the onboard sensor to read humidity. in your video you show the 2 readings the thermostat and the sensor, I would like to have more information about the remote sensor and how can use it to average temperatures and /or schedule the individual use of the sensor in different times of the day.
Unfortunately, I just don't have knowledge about that. Maybe if I build using another one
The posting time of these videos is too perfect. Just in the last couple days have I started looking into balloon framing for a tiny home to save time and effort in the construction.
I am so happy! I wish I would have combined them
Nice screws but Torx= second worse driver next to slotted.
I love different opinions. Why do you say that?
Interesting perspective about Torx head screws. I find that the T-25 and greater work very well. Of course the right drill or impact driver is the key. On a side note, it is amazing how many companies now produce structural screws from grade 5 and up. I have not use a 3/8 inch lag screw grade 2 in decades.
@@herbrotter I love this comment!
Do you have an installation video on this?? What control switch did you use
Not yet, but essentially an on/off switch with a separate switch for boost
You had to walk the plumber through where the main shut off was? Wow you're a great educator! 👊
It's interesting how much training is needed now. Just had an issue with some insulators
Curious if you've tried the zoning feature of these units? Fantastic job on the video.
I sure haven't, but thank you!!
0:22 isn't that a regulator and not a relief vent?
🙂
Awesome indeed! Love the collaboration with Steve Baczek. Now if only you could roll Brent Hull into a project as well….
Brent might be the coolest guy I know
@@PioneerBuildersInc You all are because you care about quality work.
Unless the blocking behind the ledger board is structural, insulation can be used as fire blocking instead of the blocking.
I tend to agree with you since the ledger isolates the floor diaphragm
Rockwood is R4/in.
Pretty awesome material
How is the noise transmission through those?
I don't know yet. We just finished a long form video, but we probably won't know until occupancy.
It is not going to change the fact that there is a hole in the wall. So there may be some measurable reduction in some frequencies but don't expect to not to sound like a hole in the wall. What it can do is significantly reduce the amount of light that comes through. I used some matte black spray paint to help make it better and make the brown cardboard less noticeable through the vent slats (mine was installed around head height).
@@curtisbme we have done passive returns for years without any sound deadening without a complaint. However, those were higher on the wall. We'll see how this performs. I'm always trying to refine the process. Appreciate the idea of the paint.
Installed one of those in our basement (larger model) when we added a return to the furnace/AC in a room with a door as I wanted to reduce light coming through it and ideally a bit of noise though that is probably not a measurable reduction. Though I'm curious why the room doesn't have a return if the room has a supply? Thought that was standard to do to ensure every room's heating and cooling is more consistent vs just doing one or two big central returns. Obviously don't need to have big door undercuts or do something like this if the room has a return.
Essentially more ductwork and points of connection. I provide ducted returns for primary bedrooms.
Great video Bryan! Love your comment at the end... if you understand some of the basics of building science, it changes how you look at the materials you are using! Looking forward to the next video. -- Jay from AMC Foam
Thank you so much!!

Excellent job.
Thank you!
Where are the drain lines? Are they plumbed into the house drain? I don't have plumbing on an ADU and want to use this, right now the PVC drain line comes out the same hole, so I guess I need to extend/shorten it and have it's own penetration.
You're right - the condensation drain gets run separately
Cutting a tapered board to match the slope you want is a great idea! Thanks for explaining the process 😎
Glad it was helpful!
How do you like this unit compared to Broan or Zehnder devices? Are those worth the higher price? Any guidance on how to choose between the multiple manufacturers for a new build?
I don't have first hand experience with the Broan or Zehnder. I have examined a Broan and wasn't terribly impressed with the fit and finish, but take that with a grain of salt. The Zehnder are very efficient, but unless a person has the money and is in a more extreme environment, say climate zone 7, I don't know that I'd spend the extra money.
Used my medal detector in the home construction many time before. awesome tool
