Looking In High Places - Where'd You Get The Idea
Good job, looks like you worked hard doing this. You could have made this job easier with a few changes. Strip the sheathing before putting the cable in the box, the wires should be about 2 or 3 inches longer and roll them into the box, it would be easier to make your receptacle connections. You could have used 6/2 Romex and a NEMA 6-50 receptacle, I doubt that the 240v compressor or the 240v welder uses a neutral wire. The white wire would be marked with red or black tape at each end indicating hot. Using 6/3 Romex is not a bad idea though, as you may need it later. Just leave the white (neutral) wire capped with a wire nut in the box. The other end to be landed on the neutral bus bar in the sub panel as you did. While using a separate grounding lug was fine, you could have looped the wire directly around the green grounding screw and then to the receptacle. It's only a 10 gauge wire, not a 6 like the conductors. The neutral wire which is wired in presently should carry no current, because a 240v circuit is a balanced load by default. The neutral connection on a NEMA 14-50 is for loads, e.g. electrical dryers that also have 120v circuitry for the low power needs such as in the control panel lighting, etc.

I know for myself I try to use my space as much as possible and back my truck after bucking up a log than park my truck right close so it's easier let walking and more loading
I agree! I've found an new area where I can get the truck much closer to the tree than shown in this video. It makes a big difference.
Very nice video ,thanks
Thank you!
I used to work in a hydraulics/welding shop. The welder told me one time it doesn't really matter what the weld looks like, as long as you get good penetration it'll hold.
I hope that's the case with my welds!
Nice video man. Turning scrap into something you can use. Looks great
Thanks!
I just did a similar video on how I built my tire holder on a trailer
Saw your video, spare tire mount looks great!
@lookinginhighplaces600 thanks I have a few videos on utube
There are tradeoffs with fences. It will help protect against pets or young kids from wandering into unsafe places, but if those are not a worry, then it looks more open and friendly without.
No pets or young kids around here so the fence is gone.
We loved our Trot-Bilt tillers. My dad still has his from the mid-'70s. Sweet machines.
I spent a lot of time researching what tiller to get and decided the Troy-Bilt was the way to go. Hope mine's still running after several decades.
I like the idea of the tire to get upward motion. I've not used that before. I've had good luck with soaking the roots for several hours with a hose. Even several hours per day over a few days, but our summers are super dry so that's maybe not needed in your area. I've also had good luck with an engine house. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
My lack of patience makes the soaking option tough for me although I have used it before and did with another tree removal I didn't record. Thanks for your comment.
This was fun.
Fun or not, it's done and I guess that's what counts.
I like it. Well done.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Bless you!
Thank You!
What is that switch you use to turn on the compressor on? Is it an appropriate amperage safety disconnect/switch?
It's the factory original equipment switch.
Glad to see you are posting videos again.
Gotta at least finish up the stuff from last year.
Nice job! Ever set the beard on fire... LOL
Not Yet! I actually shaved it.
Neat and Clean
Thanks!
Wires cut too short
You're right, I've learned better since then.
Great work I will attempt the same.
Hope it works well!
6 agw wire? holy crap how many amps does your quincy draw
He is also using the 240 outlet for a welder which draws more amps than the compressor.
Absolutely right.
Could you make a short video on how your air compressor is wired in and how you made the power cord for it?
At 59 yrs. old, I am just now learning how to weld & fabricate. and your video is a great inspiration. Your design is ingenious in the way that it is a simple and basic one. I have been trying to figure out how to add a spare tire mount to my trailer for months but didn't know where to start or how to do it. but you have shown me the way. This will be a great place for me to start. thanks for taking the time to post this video. the best part is the use of basic tools so I don't need to buy more tools to do it.
Thanks! I'm glad it helped!
What kind of grounding nut did you use? was it available at home depot? Please and thanks
I used this lug. www.lowes.com/pd/Southwire-Lug-Copper-8-STR-14-SOL-2-PK/5001719777 I don't know if it's available at Home Depot, I got mine at Lowe's. Hope that helps.
Always remember even the prettiest welds are not the strongest. You did a great job .
Thanks, I'm always going for a strong weld even if it's ugly.
Anda sangat hebat dan kuat ,bung pekerja keras
Nice work.
REAL SUGAR MT DEW!!! 👍
Only the Real Thing Will Dew, when I can find it.
@@lookinginhighplaces600 I’ve never seen real sugar Mountain Dew.
It's sometimes hard to find. Right now, I find it at Walmart.
I think the fence being removed made it look more open and spacious for sure! Looking good!
Thanks, glad you agree.
Sweet as! I think my eyes would've been itching like crazy with that
It was pretty dusty to say the least!
I think that carpet had years of life left in it! You need to wear a mask when you’re pulling that crap up.
You're probably right but the smell was more than we could deal with. I did get a mask for the next stuff I remove.
Tonya says it makes you look younger and skinnier..........maybe I should try shaving. LOL
It might make you look younger but I don't think you could look any skinnier.
You have given me a great idea. I am going to use time lapse for all future projects. It sure goes fast that way!
Pretty sure it doesn't work that way.
The sad thing is, you feel just as tired but it only takes 1/10th the time to wear you out!
Looking good!!!! How are you going to remove the floor?
I was hoping you and a sledge hammer would take care of it!
I have something that might break that up.😁
I know! I’m glad you still have them.
So am I! I can't believe they're still alive but they are a tough plant from a tough place!
I know!! I hope to make it on one of these firewood hauls! Trailer is looking top notch! Don't go throwing crimpers when you re-wire it!
Some days, I can't believe they're still alive but then I consider they're native home and realize they can handle almost anything. I'll take you up on the firewood haul! Fewer tools fly at this point in life but, occasionally, it still happens.
Mmmm….forbidden strawberries.
Mmmm... is right! Hope I get some this year!
Watching you work is much better than working myself. Thanks taking care of that burden for me.
I have to document that I actually did something sometime in my life, right!
I’m famous I’ve been mentioned on youtube
You've always been famous! You are, "The Man, The Myth, The Legend!"
Looks like fun.
It's something but I'm not sure it's fun.
It looks like fun. I wish I was there to help. I thought we were taught using sketchy, welded together, rusty chains that could kill you at any given time. You’ve taken the fear out of it using a new chain.
I was taught that way but haven't had the opportunity to gather miles of sketchy, welded together, rusty chains so this one will have to do.
ya got to include Like, Tag, Share and Subscribe into your videos.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try to remember to do that.
Looks great. I wish we could have been there for the stump pulling. My favorite part of stump pulling is listening to the roots pop as they are letting go.
I wish you'd been here too, I could have used the help as well as shared the fun.
Good to see ya making videos again. Good luck with the $$$ pit. It be fun tow watch
Thanks, good to know you're still kicking.
I love this video. Tania’s reaction is the best.
She's got the best laugh! I love it!
Great video. I look forward to more.
Thanks for watching!
Alot better than the crap "carry on" sells. Spare tire holders like the one you made should be standard on all utility trailers
I agree.
Great job, I love the design. Going to copy it for mine.
Thanks. It's a simple and sturdy way to carry a spare tire on the trailer, that's for sure.
What chuck did you get?
I love your design! I am going to make one for my trailer. Good video.
Thanks, glad you liked it. A simple design is hard to beat.
Appreciate your taking the time to show us an awesome spare tire mount! Great content! God Bless and stay safe!✌
Thanks, I appreciate your comment!
