Garmin STRIKER™ Cast Castable Sonar & Fish Finder with GPS
Переглядів 102 тис.3 роки тому
Garmin, who need no introduction to most have finally launched a sonar / fish finder. Although most associate Garmin with SatNav and FitBit products, they also have over 30 years worth of knowledge in marine products and sonar devices, but up until now these have been primarily fixed to boats or other vessels and used in for deep water situations. With the brand new Garmin Striker Cast you have...

Joe goes fishing for Rudd at Hollybush Lakes in Pit 3, the day ticket lake. A quick 1 hour session in between rain storms but managed a few bites. Fishing a red and a white maggot cocktail on a size 14 hook about 2 foot depth under a self weighted crystal with no shot, just letting the maggots drop through under their own weigh.

No way is this bivvy "light weight", fella... I use one, and its a great bivvy, but it's weighty in comparison to a brolly or real lightweight shelter. Especially if you're carrying the g/sheet and infill panel......But , as you say, its ridiculously solid and stable. The blackout fabric feels bomb proof. Probably where a bit of the weight comes into it...

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Buyer beware! Unlike every other fish finder on the planet, the Striker Cast does not have a fish alarm. This makes it pretty much useless when tethered to a watercraft as you don't know if you're over fish unless you stop everything and look at your phone. So far, Garmin seems completely uninterested in updating the software to fix this ridiculous oversight. If you're planning on using it on the water, DON'T BUY THIS UNIT!!!

Bluetooth is definitely gonna be less effective than wifi. For 130$ I would think they would have went w wifi

@@Gulagula-oc2wyit's wifi direct connection to your phone, you don't need a router or internet. WiFi has a longer range than Bluetooth, so you can say float a wifi unit down a river or let the current take it a ways and maintain connection.

I bought one of these from Crowthorne Angling yesterday, and have got to say I think it’s going to be one of those things I will wonder how I ever lived without. So easy to set up, really great small compact and rugged design, the app is super easy and you can literally start using it the moment you cast it into the water, or attached it to your bait boat (like I did) Thanks Ali, I’m really excited to learn more about using this to greatly improve my watercraft skills

i just tried it last weekend on the ice. had about 12-14 inches. i thought it would pick up the ice too much but it worked really well. When the hole started freezed it held in place perfectly too. it lasted me 12 hours of battery and still had 1 bar of battery left. was marking my bait going down perfectly and i could see it down below at 6 inches above the bottom. was pretty impressed

Never understood people when fishing such an easy lake decide to use bite alarms. Float fishing with light tackle is so much more fun on lakes like this. Bite alarms for harder waters I understand, using these alarms you miss the initial burst from fish when its hooked.
