I can't believe that you bought a camera with a gimble, and didn't realise that moving it up and down wouldn't just move the camera view up and down! The fact there's a joystick on the camera is a dead giveaway. To avoid missing a crucial shot of a freeway overhead sign again, I'd suggest you determine how your camera works BEFORE you start waving it around to change the target view.
I’m rewatching this twice it’s that good I’m enjoying this, video😄 Majority of the time I’m enjoying my daily use of my enduro 2 my activities flawless use and light 🔦 but i like the use my awu 2 payment, call & texts that’s about it the garmin s’more of my fav 🙌
Simple way to use Garmin for navigation is to open apple maps, drop a pin and send to Garmin connect, it will appear on watch and all you need to do is press WALK.....done
Apple is a smart watch first. It's for people who want an IPAD on their wrist. The battery life is just awful. Horrible in fact. No serious athletes use an Apple Watch. None. It's for 15 year old girls.
Turn by turn navigation actually works perfect on Garmins. What you mean is searching a navigation destination. On which I agree it’s kinda annoying. Searching can be done on text, around you and on the map itself. It takes some practice and patience since it does load slowly but the results on the map are quite good. In fact on routing it’s better then both Apple and google. I’ve found routes on my holidays in Europe which Apple and google didn’t find. Walking routes that is.
According to Google Gemini: 1. Convert the length of The Mall to metres: * 0.93 km * 1000 metres/km = 930 metres 2. Assume an average length for a London double-decker bus: * Let's use 10.5 metres as a reasonable average length. 3. Divide the length of The Mall by the average bus length: * 930 metres / 10.5 metres/bus ≈ 88.6 buses Answer: Approximately 89 London double-decker buses would need to line up end-to-end to match the length of The Mall.
I stand corrected, appreciate the maths assist. 👌Although Gemini has given me a different answer to both yours and also mine (119 buses today), seems like it changes depending on the day 😂
Great video, it can't disappoint anyone that the perfect tracking watch hasn't been invented yet, I've had Apple watch and Suunto and polar over the last 15 years and have always returned to Garmin because of design, flexibility, stability and yes there are small mistakes on all watches along the way.
Thanks buddy, appreciate it, Garmin for the win, even though it isn't perfect, yet... 👍
Good video. I have both garmin and apple ultra. There are benefits from each. Watching from America
Good video. I have both garmin and apple ultra. There are benefits from each. Watching from America
If you go to Apple Maps and type a destination you can share that to Garmin Connect and it will create a route you can send to your watch. You are right it’s hard work to get it working. I haven’t used Apple Watch since series 2 or 3 😂 Been tempted for an Apple Watch Ultra but I guess my issue is I like my Garmin because it’s very good at tracking overall fitness and I like my watch to just be a watch I don’t want notifications going off. Thoughts Tim? Good content 👍
Good stuff mate.
Thank you matey, appreciate that 🙂
Try using Garmin Explore on the phone for navigation. Just search for desired destination and select navigate, and the watch will prompt with what activity type you want to use and start navigating.
Thanks buddy, appreciate that 🙂
How are you using your 'activity tracking smart watch' for turn by turn navigation? I have since found a "fix' for this but would be interested to know any thoughts you may have?
Hi Tim! Again super interesting content. I believe both Garmin Explore and Apple Maps can be used on your phone to send a destination to your Garmin watch.. Not as smooth as Siri but more inclusive for non native speakers who struggle pronunciating destinations correctly 🤣
@@antoniofantini4539 I hear you dude 😂. And yes, I have been experimenting with those two options since we went to London. Video coming soon 👌
hi there idk if this will help but last summer I was creating waypoints with Garmin Explore app and from the watch menu "navigate" -> "saved locations" or something like this you can select waypoint
Thank you for the helpful tips in this video! I’ve been using these techniques for a while, but I still find them to be great reminders, and some are even new and very useful to me. I’m curious why you prefer FOV Lock Mode over Follow Mode. Personally, I’ve found that setting the gimbal to Fast Speed and using Follow Mode has helped me avoid resetting the horizon frequently. Just wondering about your take!
I find it is a similar method to that of using a phone for all these years. It is more what I am used to.
I have used my Action 5 Pro for over a month now. My main use is for bike rides, and it is great. The battery life is superb, lasting well over 3 hours. I have the adventure which came with 3 batteries. One feature I am not sure about is snapshot during recording. I play back the recording on my laptop to find and grab a still frame. What I want is to hit the shutter button to grab a still, without stopping the actual recording! It's only a minor thing, but helps.
So are you choosing AWU2 or Fenix 8? Love your content by the way.
@@markswindale243 thanks matey, appreciate it. Currently I am back in with Garmin. So far I have not missed anything from the AWU, well, maybe turn by turn navigation but I have now solved that little hiccup. Video on its way soon for that 👌
Thanks!
Very generous of you, thank you very much 🙂
Hi Tim, love all the videos. I've moved over from Apple Ultra to the Epic Pro Gen 2 and love it for so many reasons. One question what is the top yellow arc showing? thanks.
Hey dude, that arc was (I’ve since tweaked the data fields) the weekly ‘intensity minutes’ bar.
@@timarnoldpt Great, what have you got now?
@ I’ve removed both the top and bottom bars, they weren’t adding anything and just cluttered up the screen.
Good stuff mate. I wish I picked up the 47mm instead of the 51mm now seeing as how the display is the same. Looking forward to more vide. Subbed. 🤙
@@Goffas_and_gumpys thanks dude, appreciate it 🤘. And yes to the screen size thing, I also thought it would be a little bigger but no, it’s the same.
Do you find the strap , digs into your skin , if it’s not tight it slips and gives inaccurate heart rate data , had a few scares and had to check Apple Watch !
Get an ultra fit band
The strap for me is fine, tight enough to not slip but doesn’t cut off the circulation. The ultra fit band is a good shout as an alternative though 👌
There’s no difference between FPV locked and follow mode. I have one I used all the time and can’t tell what the difference is
subscribed sir
Legend! Welcome to the squad 🤘
So I’ve had both the F8 AMOLED & the Solar and I do miss the AMOLED but that aside it’s a great watch and does everything I need to. I have all the notifications off from my phone I just use it as a watch/fitness tracker. I hope Garmin update their CPUs on these watches though as they have been using the same one now for a long time and it’s showing its age for sure. However with a new CPU comes more battery drain so they have to balance it. Overall though I’m a happy Fenix 8 owner and it looks superb.
I love this! Thank you for making this!
You’re welcome, glad it’s helped 🙂👍
How manage flare lense? I have action 4 and action 5 pro, unfortunately dji action 5 pro has very bad lense flare, whit action 4 I didn't have this issues. Any idee how can we fix this or maybe it's possible to fox that on the firmware update...
By using filters, CPL and also ND filters, video coming soon on this very subject.
@ How about uv filter, does it help?
Great vid buddy, very useful for me as a newbie to this camera and someone with ADHD who can get confused easily at times. My only critique is regarding the vertical filming. As most socials are 1080p, filming in 4k won't be required and doing it in 3k means smaller file size, not to mention you lose some flexibility when turning the camera on its side. This might be only relevant to me, as I'm a power wheelchair user and film whilst on the go, so require flexibility and can capture killer motion shots of the chairs wheels etc
You're so right with this and who is going to spot the difference between 4 & 3k on a social platform anyway? Thanks for watching dude and appreciate the feedback. 🙂
Its a great watch overall but there is something we cant forgive them and thats the lagg, its so annoying going throught menus and facing stutters in such an expensive watch
It is a superb bit of kit, you are right too, software lag is unacceptable. I haven't experienced this myself though. This is something I go in to in my next video but I would say to anyone reading this, update the firmware first. That is what I did and have had zero lag issues.
@@timarnoldpt ive updated it as well but its there, if you scroll fast enought or even opening activities or apps tab... its not fluid... even in your video you can see that a bit
Great video and appreciate you style and humor. I picked up the solar version of the Fenix 8 last week and have been in testing mode as well - looking forward to your part 2.
Its a beast of a sports watch and that solar version should last for an age 👌
If the Apple watch Ultra 2 was in the body/chassis of a garmin, with the garmin battery life, would you hand over your hard earned pocket money for it?...
Absolutely ! Would even name my first born son after it !Jokes a side , Get Garmin Esim and I am in!!!
@@arekpiskorz1 Love that! 😂
I am thinking of putting my QC onto a board with DC7, has it been reliable for you ? Also thinking I am going to build another spare board with the Cioks Sol and put my Nano Cortex and Tonex one on it, with a looper for noodling and practicing around the house as a mini fly rig. Great video
Have had no issues with it at all, it can get a little warm sometimes but nothing that has caused any problems.
For garmin pay you need to insert pin only at the first use and remain unlocked until you remove the watch from your wrist. You can also associate Garmin Pay to a button shortcut . Also there are good apps for garmin for fidelity card with 1d (barcode) or 2d code (qr)
Same screen but Battey life I believe is almost 2x on the 51mm. Well between my Epix Pro 47mm vs my 51mm the battery is anyways.
yes, you are correct, same as your Epix pro.
How do you rotate the camera between yourself and the street/beach huts? I can do it with the Pocket 3 quite easily 😂
well... i am not sure if this is a set up for a gag, but... 😂 don't tell anyone, you literally turn it. it's mega! 🥳😉
@@timarnoldptoh my days, seriously? It was so smooth! I thought it was a gimbal or something - sir, you are a genius!
@@CoffeePotConversations i don't know about genius, but i'll take it 😁
I use an Apple Watch Ultra, a Garmin bike computer and I have a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro. I came to understand how pointless the deluge of fitness data the Garmin ecosystem spews. I listened to the Apple Watch doesn’t do HRV well arguments but found that while the actual numbers differed, the trends were the same. The Ultra does a great if not better job of tracking sleep. Likewise Heart Rate. I see the Fenix 8 as being an overpriced showplace watch, a bit like a Ferrari with a 1 litre engine. I’m definitely not changing to one of the two banks supported for Garmin Pay and I like the fact the Watch unlocks my phone and Mac, authenticates passwords etc - adding up that saves me so much time. I do still wear my Fenix 6xPro on long bike rides outdoors to use as a backup to my Garmin Edge 1040 Solar bike computer.
You can say manly. Woke is not longer in style 😁
@@Tmacademia didn’t take long 🥳🤣
Another overblown and politically exploited term that meant something very different. You should be able to say manly if you want, as long as the term means something culturally and is accepted as being positive and negative depending on the context. Like the Fenix 8, manly on the outside but puny on the inside.
Garmin for me. Never buy current model. Garmins last forever. I have the Fenix 6x currently. Will get Fenix 7x pro within next 12 months. Spending $1100 for a fenix 8 seems silly to me.
@@Tmacademia They know how to charge for them that’s for sure.
Thank you for your video, it’s been really helpful. I’m encountering some issues with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. In the Workoutdoors app, when I use the "Pace Current" data, two dashes are displayed instead of a number. However, it works with "Pace GPS" or "Pace Health System," but for these two options, the pace fluctuates significantly from one second to the next, making them unusable. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you in advance for your response.
@@VincentiJosephlouis hey, I’ve not experienced that, I’d suggest contacting the developer through the app for that one.
Shouldve been Mice space 😜😜 have you had any joy trying to do a star lapse ? I wish dji would add it properly like go pro do 👍
Love a dad joke! 🤣. I haven’t tried yet, too much light pollution to make it worth while.
Привет из России. Да, кардиозоны в Garmin это лучше чем умные часы.
Great video, but I would appreciate it more without the background music.
Thank you for the feedback, it was a bit much in retrospect. But thanks for watching too though 👍
Loved the way you explained it. Love the simplicity in the video
Thank you, appreciate that. I am unable to do anything other than simple 🤣
I dont want to be a slave of my charging cable - so Fenix all the way
I hear you on that one 👌
I really think this is overblown. I charge my Ultra when J go into the shower and put it on afterwards. If we followed that reason, the Enduro 3 watch is clearly a superior watch to the Fenix. Lighter, cheaper and much better efficiency.
@@NeilLavitt I hear you, however, having to remember to charge when you shower gets tiresome in itself. I have flicked from AWU/AWU2, Epix Pro, Fenix 8, etc, I always come back to Garmin so I can unplug my brain from charging
Canada is part of North America. We use metric! Great video
Yes, i apologise. My brother lives there and suitable chastised me for my mistake 😂
Ive have most of the fenix watches as im not into apple products. Had the epix pro for a year now and love it. Will skip the fenix 8 and may go for the 8 plus or 9, but we'll see. The Epix pro has been amazing.
I have went back and forth between Garmin and Apple Watches since the Ultra came out. I have the AWU2 Black and the Fenix 8 and I’m back on the Fenix 8 again as I just love it as a sports watch and overall fitness tracker.
it is a beast of a watch, thats for sure, i'm loving it so far
Ah, if it were that easy, right? You perfectly frame my problems with the Apple watch: a rectangular touch-based smartwatch first, a sports watch second, while there's that manly, burly, and ROUND Garmin. Easy one.... until one gets to the metrics stuff. Turns out, the nerdy smartwatch is WAY more precise than the testosterone booster, and not by a small margin. This finally led me to decide what would be the lesser problem in everyday use: The Garmin is simply the best choice for people who hate touch screens, love practical tools, and choose to have a watch still resembling the tradition in most ways. But it's a closer call than I thought.
the Garmin definitely has that rugged, "I can hike a mountain and still look good" vibe! But who knew choosing a watch could feel like picking a side in a tech battle royale? 😂
my humble opinion: These Ultra and big Garmins are simply unsuitable for any activities. They have soft materials and a large size, which means they are destroyed after a few months. They are also uncomfortable and too bulky. Apple’s battery life is simply ridiculous for sport-oriented watches. A small plastic watches like Garmin Instinct 2S or g-shock 5600 are much more durable and convenient to use than all these hipster-barbershop-activity-focused watches.
Don’t agree with yr point of view … been running, trail running, MTB and swimming with my Fenix 6 Sapphire and still rocking strong after couple ..well more than a couple of incidents .. the Fenix sapphire is like a thank !,
I disagree too, I've been wearing the Enduro 2 for awhile now and taken it rock climbing, mountaineering, trail running, backpacking, MTB and lots more, it basically looks brand new still, no scratches on the screen and only the tiniest little mark on the bezel. This thing is crazy tough and gorgeous. This thing is everything an outdoorsman needs, don't have to bring anything else, no phone, no maps, no compass, nothing. The instinct doesn't even have maps for goodness sack.
I love that hipster-barbershop-activity description, it is fitting for some that is for sure. I always wanted one of those watches with a calculator on it, but was never allowed to because i might 'cheat in my maths tests' 😂
Do you need to try a 47mm Fenix 8 (or 7pro, slightly bulkier), with a nylon strap (I hate silicone) for casual and sport and true leather o steel/titanium for more formal use. Is absolutely not bulk, soft or cheap. Fenix is very durable even in the "simple" steel+gorilla glass version. I had multiple impact (falling on rocks also) on my previous Fenix 6 and Fenix 7pro an I had no damage at all. Simply changing watchface an band can also totally transform the apparente from a sport oriented device to a elegant device for daily and formal use
You lost me at soft materials. The 51mm variants are indeed too big for many, especially their depth. See the Enduro 3 as an example, even though it’s relatively light. All that said, you can’t really generalize which watch is best for everyone. It is very subjective.
Subscribed .... Garmin should introduce one time password and that should be ones you put on the watch ... same as Apple/Galaxy/ Pixel and even Amazfit watches are doing it
That is a good shout, love that! And thank you for the sub too 🙂
@timarnoldpt 👍🏻🙂
Previously i only had apple watches. 41 and 45mm . What I found out that the HR sensor on ligher and smaller watches are much more accurate during activities like crossfit. Now with Gamin Epix Pro 51mm the watch itself is much bigger and during crossfit training it is more vulnerable to movements and vibrations on the wrist. I had terrible HR readings because of that. However the overall experience for workouts with Garmins are much much better for me than Apple. The HR problems i solved with chest strap Polar H10 and this is generally best setup I had. Good Luck :)
So, it seems like size does matter 😂 and in this case smaller might be better, thats a win! 🥳. I hear you on the crossfit/functional training side though, finding the sweet spot on the wrist is a challenge. Bicep curls in the squat rack for the win here though.
Yeh, the Enduro 3 is a much better choice than the Fenix 8. It’s all about what is good about Garmin. Very light, almost endless battery. The Fenix 8 just came out as a very middle of the road result on The Quantified Scientist review - said reasons of size etc.
@@timarnoldptchest strap is the data is meaningful to you, otherwise it’s garbage in vigorous activity.
I have an android and an iPhone. For what Garmin charges, I could never make a case for choosing it over the ultra. The ability to leave your phone at home, for making payments, and for a more accurate heart rate sensor, it’s Ultra all the way. If Garmin wants to continue charging a premium for a sports activity watch, the accuracy when it comes to fitness metrics, should be on point. Speaking of metrics, we use the metric system in Canada.
It's the classic showdown-Garmin vs. Apple! Like trying to choose between my children... 😂
