Heat N Glo Fireplace Won't Light
Переглядів 30 тис.3 роки тому
The pilot would light but the flame would not ignite. This fireplace has an electronic ignition system with NO standing pilot. The control module and control valve are manufactured by Dexen. The orange wire to the valve controls the pilot flame and the green wire controls the main burner. This solution only works if the pilot lights, the spark igniter stops sparking, and the pilot flame stays l...

    I just got a brand new heat n glo installed. It lights and the flame comes on and then it dies down to like nothing and starts beeping at me. Could be the same issue? My landlord has left me high and dry

    My Heat & Glo SL-750 pilot would not light. My inlet pressure is about 8iwc. I get no pressure on the outlet port. I also replaced the OEM Dexen module and I’m only getting 200mV at the green wire. The pilot barely lights and the spark is staying on even after getting a small flame. I’ve tried tapping many times but it hasn’t helped. Do you think I have multiple issues here?

    • @flueflame5438
      @flueflame5438 6 місяців тому

      200mv is not enough to open the pilot valve. In case this is a false reading, I would take the pilot assembly out and clean out the pilot orifice.

    • @BigEasyPatriot
      @BigEasyPatriot 6 місяців тому

      @@flueflame5438 ok thank you. I’ll check that. I just connected the original Dexen module and same thing… 3vac input and 200mV at the green wire with my black lead on the valve chassis. Odd that both old and new Dexen modules have the same reading at the green wire. Maybe a bad chassis ground?

      There is a black wire in the control module wire harness. The wire is screwed to the fireplace body. This is the ground wire for the system.@@BigEasyPatriot

      @@flueflame5438 I appreciate your help. I’ll remove the ground and see if it’s still making a good connection with the chassis. Fyi…I believe my system is from 2006. Might just be time for a complete upgrade 😂

    Mine pilot lights along with the main burner but then turns completely off and on intermittently, would that be the pilot valve sticking? I already changed the control module and the same thing happens.

    • @flueflame5438

      I used to replace them, but realized that the solenoid was not bad, the plunger was just getting stuck from lack of use. The valve replacement was around $300. Smacking it was saving the customer money. The valve can be replaced but I didn't feel it was in the best financial interest of the customer.

    • @flueflame5438

      When you flip the wall switch, is there a spark at the pilot? When you remove the glass and flip the switch, do you here the gas hissing? If these two things are occurring, the pilot will eventually light. It may take several tries, but it will eventually light the pilot.

    Currently have a unit with a stand alone pilot/remote. Valve lights, but when burner lights it will go out within a few seconds. Will automatically relight then go out. Was staying on for a bit. Then same issues. Thermocouple??

    • @flueflame5438
      @flueflame5438 2 роки тому

      If your system has a pilot flame that stays on all the time, then your problem is probably the thermopile. The thermocouple only controls the pilot flame. If your pilot flame is staying on, the problem is not the thermocouple. I would start with cleaning out the pilot orifice and see if the problem goes away.

      @@wfeierday The clicking or ticking sound is the spark igniter attempting to light the pilot. You may need to remove the glass and check the pilot assembly for any obstruction. Having the glass off will give you the opportunity to clear away any lava rock or glowing embers that may be preventing the spark from reaching the gas coming out of the pilot. You may also be able to hear a faint hissing sound if gas is coming out of the pilot when the wall switch is turned on. If you hear hissing and see spark at the pilot, the pilot will soon light after the air gets pushed out of the line and gas reaches the pilot.
