Two Pladask Elektrisk Dradds In Stereo
Y'all, we've got a barn-burner today. This video could very well open up an Ambient Singularity: we've got potted plants, soft sounds, and a stereo pair of Pladask Electrisk DRADD modules.
The scientists said it couldn't be done. Said it was cosmologically and fiscally irresponsible. But I told them that UA-cam had a right to know. So you're welcome, internet.
Ok but for reals: I didn't plan for this to be a UA-cam video, but the jam was enjoyable and ran on for a bit and there are no other examples of two DRADDs running in stereo out there, so I figured why not publish this.
The sound source is Ableton's "collision" instrument, being sent out to the modular as an external effect. We start in mode 3 on Dradd, then switch to mode 1, and end on mode 2. Various clock speeds are used. POS1 and POS2 are being modulated by Just Friends. The whole thing is being glue together by Sealegs in ping pong mode, which takes some of the hard panning out of the equation.
I actually think this sounds really nice, and will probably leave these both in the case.

What is it about Otis on monome norns that I love so much? Maybe it's the DNA that it shares with the ciat-lonbarde cocoquantus. Sounds pretty good! I'd have loved an rms gain matched comparison, though. When you bypass it, the dry sound is too quiet to really be able to judge the difference. It might have similar peak levels, but RMS sounds way lower bypassed.
Question? Is it a mono signal coming out of Ableton, or a stereo source split between the 2 Dradds?
It’s a sample playing back. I think it’s mono, but the takeaway is definitely that the dradds are creating a very dramatic stereo image from material that didn’t have one before (whether the sample is technically stereo or not)
Knowing I could use 2 Dradds was no danger to my fiscal state. Having heard 2 Dradds was quite dangerous to my fiscal state.
is anyone having problems with this pedal where there's no led lights and sound only passing through in bypass? Also can't update the firmware?
Try a different power supply- my unit doesn’t like my Strymon PSU and won’t properly boot when using it, but it likes a standard wall wart just fine.

Hey matt do you use the hell out of norns and crow with your rack? Just curious if its a staple in your workflow because im debating on whether to get into this.
Norns is a staple. I don’t use crow all that often. The monome product I use most is teletype
@@mattlowerymusic thanks for getting back to me. You are the reason i got into eurorack. The video with synapse. You are a whiz with that stuff. Norns is open for order or was as of today so considered getting one but not sure if it will be worth it at $900.00

Great video! Thanks! One thing I really like about Dradd is that it doesn't try to offer every possible feature. It's rather simple and hence very hands on, in the spirit of Doepfer.

Thank you! No, DRADD isn’t stereo. Two dradds are needed for stereo experiments, hence the unhinged nature of this ridiculous video
Dradd is mono in, mono out. I’d love to see Pladask take Dradd as well as some of their pedals to stereo. If there were stereo versions of Fabrikat, Draume, and Taken, I’d get them all in a heartbeat. I used to have them, but I sold them because they’re mono.

@5:30 Hi Matt! Just curious, how are you interfacing your modular setup with the pedal here, both in terms of audio in & out levels as well as tempo sync?
For audio I/O, I use the boredbrain xchngr. I believe I’m using Ableton as the primary clock here, sending midi clock to sending for syncing, and then driving Rene with Ableton’s CV clock out device, which is sending clock via a boredbrain optx

I have one and seriously thought about buying another just for this. Now I may have to .....
I seriously thought for about 5 seconds. Then I did it. Not missing out on this. I have several granular synth modules. I find that the need to record to so many of them to do their thing (Nebulae, Arbhar, Cornflakes, Brinta) really gets in the way. Always listening and always processing is key for me. It’s why I prefer Beads to any of the others for most use.
