Retro Gamers Dream - I visit Nottingham Video Game Expo
Переглядів 3,1 тис.3 місяці тому
We went to the Nottingham Video Game Expo. Really enjoyed my time there and got to chat to lots of indie game developers and play demos of their games. I also loved the Derby Computer Museum stall where you could play very old retro games on lots of old computer systems too! There were also talks with people in the industry but we ended up not attending any. I will definitely be back next year!...

Hey gamers! It's been a while, but I finally made my way to Doorway to Dorkness which is an amazing retro game shop based in Doncaster. I can't recommend this shop enough, such incredible variety of games and plenty of rare retro games and consoles in sight! I also finally picked up Sega Bass Fishing with the fishing rod controller! Keep watching to see some gameplay and hear my first thoughts ...
Should you buy the Nintendo Gameboy or the Analogue Pocket?
Переглядів 7 тис.6 місяців тому
With so many new great ways to play retro games, I explore if it's really worth buying the original Nintendo Gameboy or if you should look at other alternatives, such as the Analogue Pocket. I take a look at the features of both and show some gameplay to see which comes out on top! Follow me on my socials for more gaming content and updates in-between my video uploads: lydgendary ...

Analogue Pocket. The original Game Boy is outdated.
first bought a megadrive 1 in dec 94 with sonic 1 packed in and alien storm/golden axe/ thunder blade cartridge. Upto then I had a nes which I found games really hard to source at the time.
They’re available online that we got in 2000s it’s like going back in past.
Dose sega n snes n saturn play better on cat tv or not much difference
I’m going to Nottingham on Thursday to see my friend, if I see you I will come say hi x
This is an old video now but can I ask what rack you are using for your playstation 2/3 and switch games?
I have a different array of handhelds, from gameboy to these modern cheap Chinese emulators.. My pocket is by far more superior, Im always picking that out from the others. With open FPGA you can play up to SNES, which is brilliant! Fingers crossed the devs of these cores will sort out save states as in the future 🤞 Great video, you just gained another sub 😊
I want that new sonic game

A positive video about the PS5? This is a rare treat!
I went to this market.. It was so busy on my slot it was tough to get much space at the stalls to have a good look at what was on offer
@@benironside1264 we struggled with that too, just had to be very patient 😅
@@Lydgendary noooooooo my weakest attribute. 🤣 I need to sit picking locks to get that stat up
we got a SEGA Master System when I was around 3yo. I always played this game with a little dude on a red motorcycle (which was the first level and I rarely beat it 😀). always forget what the game was called. at the age of 5 I finally understood how to play video games properly 😛and loved playing Rainbow Island.
That Space Invaders game is actually not the Atari 2600 version at all but rather an arcade port. Strange they put that into that console...
How much of your game collection have you played ? I’ve took a break collecting as I’ve found myself to be buying stuff just because I don’t have it I have stuff on shelves that I’ve bought years ago still in its original wrap.
I have been rebuilding my SNES collection and playing the games with my daughter who is 7. She is still learning how to play but Super Mario Kart always gets good laughs.
Shenmue absolute classic, and it’s in good condition in comparison to a lot I’ve seen👍🏻. And last battle (fist of the North Star) is still one I need to pick up looks interesting, I think it was an early release for the mega drive. Great haul👍🏻🍺😎.
I feel like it may have come as a box set with the mega drive as it has a "not for resale" over the barcode 🤔 and thanks! Super happy with the haul, definitely could have bought more 😂
I don't often say this but the North American box art for Sonic 3 was infinitely superior to the European one. Ours was frankly atrocious. Loving those chunky Dreamcast instruction booklets though!
Yeah I agree with this one! I often think the Japanese versions look best from a design perspective (Skies of Arcadia looks beautiful whereas PAL is too busy for example). I can't bring myself to go down the rabbit hole of getting different regions for games 😂
@@Lydgendary I've ended up with NTSC copies of 2 retro games by mistake but other than that yeah, I've always avoided it too. My grandad studied in Nottingham but I've never been there. Sounds like I need to visit to check out the gaming scene at some point!
@FoggyD there's not many gaming shops in the actual city but there are a few events, it's a great city imo and lots of things to see and do, plenty of great food and drink places too
I find the markets ok, nothing special. I buy on condition value rather than price but I just don't seem to be able to get prestine goods or 8/10 condition items from these markets. Pre hdmi consoles I prefer NTSC products. I went to the Milton Keynes market since that was local and I only bought a GBA with IPS screen, no games at all.
That's a shame! I thought this one was pretty good, there were some very bad condition games that were the same price as good ones, just had to dig through a lot. There were a lot of stalls so that helped
Glad you had fun and got some nice pick ups. Perhaps next time you can check my table (If you like Nintendo handheld software). But yes that was a good market and people were spoilt for choice. Last battle was a release title for the system more or less but is hard as nails, it s localised port of a game from japan as part of the 'First of the North star' anime. Sonic 3 is only part 1 of the epic that is the Death Egg Saga Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the ultimate adventure! Shenmue is a Gold enjoy! :)
I likely did spot your table! I am collecting for Gameboy though it's not my main focus at the moment but I will definitely invest a bit more in future. Hope you had a successful day with your table!
Nice pickups
I remember playing Shenmue being amazed at the detail, but then GTA 3 came out and it changed the whole industry.
Both games were huge in terms of history and pushing the boundaries of the tech we had 👏
Great pick ups! Are you aware of Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles relationship to one another? If you have S&K I think you’d find the differences playing Sonic 3 on its own then playing it locked onto S&K. If you’re not familiar it’s worth a read up. Interesting bit of sonic history and development. You got a pretty good condition copy of shenmue. I bought my copy in 2001 and it was just as worn so for it to be about the same after all this time is a great find! Hope you enjoy playing it!
I had no idea about that so thank you for the heads up! I was really pleased with Shenmue as I saw a lot of very bad condition ones that day for the same price
Get yourself some fun PS1 and PS2 games next time out : )
I do plan on it! Though actually there's not many games on those platforms I'm after now 😅
and its backwards compatible which should be the biggest factor
Great choice with donkey konga. I recently got a gamecube again and this was top of the list as it was something my wife was excited to play too
That's good to hear! Hope you're enjoying having a GameCube 😁
@@Lydgendary I am thanks but its sadly packed away for a house move. I’ll hopefully get back to soon
@@Fatfish4 best of luck with the house move!
With the current state of the gaming industry Ive ended up going back to the 5th 6th generation stuff. I miss the 90s/00s
It's my favourite generation too. Though there are still some great games coming out, I generally prefer indie games these days though
@@Lydgendary Same here.
Some good pickups always look forward to your videos keep hunting
Glad to hear it 🫶
Can relate :D
Cool plant
Nice switch collection
Hey James here - one of the co creators of @NottsVGE - Glad you had fun at this years Nottingham Video Games Expo with a great walk around and comments! It's always nice to have the indie scene as well as Derby Computer Museum at NottsVGE - I think I was second atthe end of the weekend on Chuckie Egg on the Amstrad - still got my Amstrad CPC 464 Green Screen from when I was a kid. Plus congrats to you both as well :) - J
The Analogue pocket would've been perfect if it had better form factor and no scalpers exist. Just grab one of those Anbernic, Retroid and AYN devices. Even an FPGBC is also good given it's higher availability.
Thank you for this video - I was always amazed by the Dreamcast when it was released. This video has finally made me pull the trigger on getting one. Always will be a Sega girl
I recently started collecting PS2 games and consoles again, I used to have a slim with about 70 games, but sold that and my PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles and games, so far I've been rebuilding my collection...PS3 currently at 352 games and 3 slim consoles, Xbox 360 at 150 games and two 500gb E models, 4 PS1 Classic Mini consoles modded with games, 2 SNES Classic Mini consoles of which one is modded with 120 games, two NES / Famicom clone consoles, and now one fat PS2 and 19 games so far, I do have modded slim PS2 consoles with freemcboot and external hard drives loaded full to the brim with games...but I'd rather collect physical games...
If you're heading over to Derby, you might want to pop into Retro World. Potential to find a little something in that shop.
Congratulations to both of you!
😢
Your spare used to smoke 40 a-day🤪😂
😂😂😂
Dreamcasts are extremely easy to disassemble, so easy shell swap honestly.
That's the plan 😊
Dats sad :(
Really is 😭
Nice!!! But I would change Alex Kidd, Castlevania has to be allways in a “must play” list.
Awesome!!!
Very nice
Hi, i just bought this tv today! What is the game playing at 9:03 ?
