Mini plastic funnels are a great way o avoid spills, but switching to dropper bottles was game changing! Especially for wet palettes. Also makes it much easier to store, no more spills and feels like I’m losing a lot less paint to crusty lids.

Love this, one of the best examples I’ve seen so far! Do you think this style could work for a blue blade? Would like something to contrast with the red of the Blood Angels 🩸

Another consideration I feel is overlooked in the conversation is cost. If you are doing slapchop all you need to buy is primer, the mid and light tones for dry brushing, and one speedpaint or contrast paint per color. With traditional layer painting, you need about 3 different paints for each color, a base coat, a wash to fill the gaps and recesses, and a highlight color. Unless you are lightening your base paints and thinning for washes yourself by mixing, which is a bit more of an advanced technique that many beginners get inconsistent results with, you end up spending more time AND money with layering. In a hobby where the price of initial investment and set up is one of the main things that pushes people away, slapchop can be a nice entry level method to get people into it with a relatively cheaper price point.

I cant stand the GW model but yours.....is a work of pure art in all its gross form.

Great tutorial! I wonder if adding a few patches of black, like crackled basalt or whatever, is at all worth it. Like that one Citadel texture paint/varnish that cracks apart if you dry it with a blow-dryer, or maybe just a texture paint with dark colours on top. Would it make a cold spot look even cooler (pun intended)?

The model was made for age of sigmar to fit with their new aesthetic for the range, but yeah if I ever got one I'd probably try to stick the maggoth lord tummy mouth on his face 😊

That looks very cool with the small dio on the base! How did you prevent spilling in that last pouring part? Sealing the sides of the base with the same plastic as the waterfall? Can you remove it afterwards without any residu staying behind?
