My Town Ride Today November 2nd
Переглядів 9414 днів тому
We had a small Fire in a box on George Street, and this morning a traffic jam of car drivers rubbernecking, to laze walk the street. Later three strong young lads act silly at the only main traffic light the town has, get very weak on the hill, and then to cap it all a silly driver decides 16mph is slow and does a close pass approaching a traffic safety Island.

Now not so fast or ride so far these days. Silly middle-aged man (should have known better) tried to pass me coming to the main set of traffic lights in Warminster, we only have the one set! 1.5 metres that's a laugh

They did not think or care about the safety of the local pedestrians, just the drivers had a smoother ride and grip. That white pipe rail should have been repaired properly first!

Speeding Merc & Attempted Unsafe Pass
Arm out to turn right at some point in the next 10 minutes!?!? Perfect overtake. The entitlement is strong with this one.
My speed at that point was 14.2 mph not bad for a 79 year old, the parked traffic was not moving very fast, and that git had less than ten metres before the traffic Island, so very unsafe and drivers of cars are now next to bottom for priority, please read the Highway Code book, its free online.
Don’t ride in the middle of the road? Only to tool here is the camera owner
I'm changing lanes you stupid sod, if you drive like that then you should be locked up!
@ why are cyclists so miserable? Drive or ride a mechanically powered type of transport that pays road tax and insurance and you might gain the respect of your fellow road users 🤷♂️
Tool!!!!!
Who is sad and pathetic enough to upload something so petty? What's wrong with people? Man up!
perfect overtake
If you're as bad as that driver, then take a recourse on how to drive safely.
@@TheNordog he did nothing wrong, please explain what he did wrong if you think he did? Go on embarrass yourself as much as you have by saying recourse
I don't see where the issue with the car is. Also, talking about safety... why are you biking in flip-flops?
Sandles clip to the pedals without socks most of the time. If your eyes could not see the issue get a bigger screen or your eyes tested!
@@TheNordog he passed you with plenty space. Why should he unnecessarily cross into the oncoming lane? Sounds more like you are just a typical cyclist that likes to complain
The council will claim that as 100m of cycle infrastructure to meet their targets
Germany also builds sh*t like this, where cyclists have to turn left to continue on the cycle path that goes round the roundabout, with cars coming from behind exciting the roundabout
Where is this? There are now gov guidelines on how this should be done.
Noice!
I am Dutch. I did not laugh, but was appalled to see what a city planner can come up with.
Thanks but it is pathetic with all that spare grass, mind you if they did use the grass areas they would not keep it clear for long.
You'll see the car by stopping and looking before crossing the carriageway.
So, it is a bad design, the cyclist is simply following the roundabout and is not crossing. If it was done for safety, to make sure the cyclist would stop and look, make the cycle path further away from the roundabout, so it is a real crossing.
According to the HC cars should be stopping and giving priority to crossing peds and cyclists
You'd need a neck like an owl to be able to check for vehicles approaching from that angle. A better design would be to put the cycle crossing slightly further down the road from the roundabout and have it on a raised / humped platform that forces motorists to slow down.
@@philroo1 priority is given not taken. You shouldn't be jumping out in front of cars and demanding they stop. You stop. They see you. If they give priority, you cross. If they don't, you don't. Them's the rules and whilst motorists should be giving priority we all know that 99.99999% don't. So why on earth would you assume that they will?
@@raithrover1976 that roundabout is no different from any other roundabout or junction. The problem isn't an inability to physically see. It's that the rider didn't bother to slow appropriately and look adequately. We whine and moan about cars not being attentive and then ignore when we operate in an equally cavalier fashion and somehow still find someone else to blame. Yes, the on the road, on the pavement, on the road, across the carriageway, on the pavement again cycleways are terrible and dangerous. Knowing that, why is the rider not being extra cautious? Stop. Lifesaver. Proceed if it safe to do so. If you can't physically look over your shoulder then you shouldn't be operating any vehicle on the road.
Still better than the US
I mean that's really debatable bc in the US it's so bad you won't go anywhere on a bike. Here it is saying "come ride your bike" then putting you into a death trap. I think first option sounds better to me. But that's personal opinion. 😅
put his plate in the title to make it searchable and report the incident to your police force
Wiltshire Police refused me even though a van driver hit me. The local cops are hidden until called.
You take the so called primary position cos your a knob.

Being a bit precious mate.
You such a karen, that car had no problem passing the other two bikes, and why did you and the first bike speed up? and why are you riding all over the road? even though there are no center lines that's a 2 lane road. all you've done is showed what a quick tempered karen you are.
?
You`re pathetic. Did i mention you`re pathetic?
You are delusional.
So?
Nothing wrong here apart from an arrogant entitled muppet on a bike.. The only possible misuse is the runner NOT facing on coming traffic
what's that old song,......ahh yes....Gordon is a Moron
This type of video is why people think cyclists are self obsessed tosspots! A total non event.
Well that was insanely disappointing.
BTW it's goodbyE , and iMpatient !
WTF What incident ? What near accident ? Vivid and inaccurate imagination !
Don't get it mate
You guys are sooks. What was wrong here?
Perhaps the cyclist is referring to the point where he/she is in the middle of the road on a corner.....?
To call this "nearly caused several accidents", or even an "incident" is pretty far fetched. Guy was impatient when he first tried to overtake you, yes, but after that he was ok.
cyclists should read the highway code aswell
Typical arsehole on a bike. Knows he is slowing traffic down but won't pull over, then tries to blame others. What a prat!
The driver appears to have driven in a considerate fashion at all times, obviously taking great care not to inconvenience other road users, including vulnerable road users (pedestrian, horse and rider & cyclists), and giving them the maximum space which the relatively narrow rural road allowed, as well as moderating their speed when passing - you are in a 30mph speed limit, yet the car stays well back from you despite you cycling uphill. The driver positioned themselves across to the right of the carriageway on approach to the left-hand bend, which maximises their view round the corner, and since the road widens at that point, and they would have been able to see that there was nothing coming towards them at that point, they likely could have passed you quite safely had you have maintained a position towards the left. You, on the other hand, 'stopping' him/her from going about their journey through your positioning on the road, appear to have behaved inconsiderately - See highway code rules 66 and 168 for example www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/using-the-road-159-to-203. It is the responsibility of the driver to determine if when where and how it is safe to pass hazards, not anyone else.
Really? I had much worse just an hour ago with a work van overtaking me on a blind corner. Cant really see anything massively amiss here?
This was on a narrow lane approaching double-blind bends, I know the road very well, last year a car driver was passing us as a car came head on and both had to do an emergency stop same place.
I regularly cycle and can't see anything wrong here.
Goodbye has an "e"
what is the point of this?
What a garbage video have you just been shown how to edit? Driver in car did nothing wrong.
What incident???.........you're in cloud cuckoo land....
Were you in the car then?
@@TheNordog I wasn't, but like all the other comments I really don't see much wrong from the car driver. Please ride safe.
I know the road you don't.
Dafuq??? That driver was absolutely OK. If that counts as an "incident" in your life then you must really be sheltered. Drop your entitlement and spend your time more profitably rather than trying to find offence in everything!
You must be a terrible driver I hope you are not near me let alone in the UK
@@TheNordog . 55 years old, spent years covering large swathes of the UK for work, driving in excess of 40,000 business miles per year. Many years riding sports motorbikes on the road and on tracks. Clean licence (never had points), no accidents. Yeah, terrible driver (not). You strike me as someone who is looking for ways to be offended. Spent that time and energy in some advanced training and improve your obs. And drop the wounded pride.
@@Cheradanine My pall in front or me might have been injured or dead or perhaps a faster younger ride coming up from Salisbury, if in a hurry why not use the A 36 main road like I used to in 40-ton trucks.
@@TheNordog You must be a terrible cyclist if you couldn't control your cycle in that environment.
@@TheNordog You are insane
I thought everyone behaved impeccably. Shame about the attention seeking
Except the cyclist..
I was trying to save his/her no-claims bonus from plunging to zero by warning the driver that it is a very dodgy set of narrow bends, as you lot were not there at that time you have only my video form an opinion.
@@TheNordog What a joker!
if you don’t want opinions don’t post a video numpty
@@Humanity101-zp4sq Do you lot know the road personally? I doubt it. Hundreds of cyclists use this route from Salisbury to Warminster (both ways) most weekends most are very fast young fit racers, some are just young family riders to the cafe or the lakes some are very old, I myself have done this route for well over ten years at speed, with a dog trailer and still go as fast as I can, but some drivers just can't be bothered to slow down or use the A36 not a mile away, why because it can be dangerous to drive on with heavy trucks and speeding motorbikes and sports cars capable of breaking the speed limits of 30,40,50 and the 60mph limits.
You are insane, you were all over the road. You are going to get someone hurt thinking that you are lord of traffic. Get a new hobby.
It is a narrow lane and gets even more narrow with an S-bend, we Had two opposing cars nearly head-on beside us, a few weeks before this as we cycled in the opposite direction.
'promosm' 💃
Another Jeremy vine ! Cyclists should pay road/vehicle tax plus have stupidity insurance for wilfully placing themselves and other road users in danger then use the money to build them there very own little roads so there's nobody else that way they can video each other's stupidity
And another di*ck head, we all paid tax that covers the roads since the 1930s, If happened to you then you would be crying to Mother. By the way, tarmac roads were not made for car drivers but for lady cyclists to stay clean, rich lady cyclists after the safety bicycle were invented long before motor cars were electric or the combustion-engined from Germany, Please read the Highway Code Book it is online these days!
@TheNordog I ain't arrogant and stupid enough to place myself in such a stupid position or wearing skin tight shorts. Trusting some nuggets that can't stand me behind the controls of tones of metal with my life. Ohh that sounds like fun But if that rocks your boat
Another bellend on a bike and the light wasn’t red… I suggest Specsavers.
When approaching a junction slow down dopy, plus look at this car that was parking up as the light changed for the traffic in front of me it reversed into the bay very well but not fully in the box also I had to give it room if the drive decided to get out quickly. You all were not there I was and at the time I did not know that that idiot racing up behind me was there so me giving that car room was a good move! Now please get online and read about the Highway Code of Great Britain before you speak!
what an arsehole this cyclist is. The Audi gave you bags of space and went through on the yellow
