I don't think I had heard Mr. O'Connor prior to this clip from their debate. I think he asks some good questions, many of which are difficult to answer. What I find interesting with debates such as this one is that an intelligent person who either leans towards, or totally embraces atheism, such as Mr. O'Connor, reads just enough of the Bible to have these questions spring up. And, as I stated already, they are good questions and people SHOULD think; that's the purpose of us having brains in the first place. However, it seems that such people rarely (in my experience, never) put as much effort into studying the Bible to find the answers to their questions as they put into ridiculing the God of the Bible due to what may not be apparent on the surface of the Bible narrative. For example, Mr. O'Connor makes the assertion that God, if He exists, is biased and unjust because the Israelites received warnings that the Canaanites did not. This might sound true at first glance, but is it? If we recall the account of the people of Jericho, what was Rahab's admission to the two Hebrew spies? She told them that the people of the whole land (which would include all the Canaanites) trembled with fear after they heard what God had done for the Hebrews in their deliverance from Egypt. How could they fear and yet never have heard? This is one instance of a 'warning' that the Canaanites would have had that the God of the Hebrews was not like their own gods. Another thing to consider with regard to this specific question is that the Hebrews were told how to deal with the people of the land. While they were not to make a league with them, any were welcome to join them if they chose to give up their heathen worship and embrace the God of Israel. This is how we ended up with the 'mixed multitude'; many Egyptians left with the Israelites after they saw what God did in the 10 plagues. Though the Bible does not give an account of every single dialogue between the Israelites and the people of the surrounding nations, we can understand that there were often discussions between ambassadors of the different nations prior to war. Didn't a delegation of people from a surrounding nation approach Joshua and trick him into promising not to take over their kingdom? There are some things that we won't have clear answers to because we, as fallen human beings, cannot fully understand the mind of God. However, many answers can be ascertained with honest and diligent study. And the fact that Christians don't have all the answers in no adds to or takes away from the veracity of their claims. Do not atheists allow for the same, stating that future scientific endeavor will reveal answers to questions they cannot currently answer? The difference is that Christians await the revelation of God while atheists await the revelation of science.

Is there an easy way to recognize truth? Is there an easy way to show something is untrue? Is it possible to have consistent beliefs about things that are untrue? Is this why there are vast schisms within all religions and god beliefs? Today let's focus on the schisms that exist in Christianity! From Catholics, to Protestants to Calvinists to Mormons...Christian beliefs are all over the map. That is also why you had Christian's who supported Hitler and why you have Christians who support Trump now and you had and have Christians who believe both these men are abhorrently evil. You have Christians who vote to force raped little girls to give birth, vote for never ending gun violence, vote for inaction on climate change and health care costs and tax breaks for billionaires and you have Christians who vote exactly the opposite. Because in the end Christians are just flawed human beings who are good, evil and in between just like all other human beings. Now Christian's apologists will attempt to divert these oberservations by claiming it is because of "sin". But why would those who believe in christ do evil things and those who don't believe in him do good works? Why does it take the lie of Christ or Muhammad or Joseph Smith to make people who would fall naturally on the good and peaceful side of society do evil?
