@@pegandrobsgameforadventure Hello Peg, not yet. Am hoping to get one. Believe it or not it was only a few months ago I found out about motorhomes. I had never given it any thought before and the more I have researched it and watched videos the more I like it. So I have been looking at motorhomes and now know exactly what I would like. So am hoping at some stage to actually get one.

@@Michelle-ub9dgI think you will love it. We hired one first to see if it was ‘the dream’ as there are a few challenges… like finding somewhere to park and we use a lot of public transport when we park up to avoid driving round towns. We love ours 😀

Hi Mike, Thank you for commenting. We really did think long and hard about whether the price was worth it. We had decided to do it. Then rethought, then decided if we were only there once we might regret not going for it. I did a lot of overnight buses and trains in my 20s but find it a little harder to do in my 60s. We appreciate it isn’t for everyone but we made our savings elsewhere and enjoyed the ride. Best, Peg. 😀

Thanks Jason, our average spend (including the cost of all ferries and fuel) was £100 a day. We will do a video on that at some stage… we blew the £10 per day budget! 🤣🤣

Hi Lynn, thanks for your lovely comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. I will ask Rob to answer more fully. he is out having a few beers with friends today. I would plan your routes so you are not in any cities in peak hours. We did experience quite a few hairpin bends. Surprisingly we didn’t get beeped as often as I thought we would. The Italians drive like no other nation. They like to go fast so just pull over and let them past when you can. Rob has driven the entire length of Italy now. I’m not sure what he would say but I think Palermo in Sicily was the most stressful. When we were further north we chose motorhome sites (sostas) that had public transport to the cities we wanted to visit. There is no way we would have driven through Naples, Rome or Florence… but we found the Italian public transport was very easy to use and cheap. Best, Peg

Hi Lynn, We didn’t have too many issues in Italy in our 6 meter Motorhome (2.3 meters wide). We always researched in advance (often the day before) somewhere to park that was easy to get to and had good public transport links into each city. Many sostas provide a free drop off and collect service if they are not located close to public transport. We mainly used Park4Night. Sometimes we would call before arrival to check on availability. We always managed to communicate even though our Italian language skills are very limited. Hope my ramblings help! Best, Rob

Hi Elaine, thank you so much for your lovely comment. We are inspired by your question to do a Video on how we manage to do what we do. Basically I had a serious health issue that prompted us to live life to the full. The next step was a 5 year plan to finish work asap and work out how we could afford to travel far and wide. We sold our house and live full time in our motorhome. We bought another property purely to rent out. I had a teachers pension so we started drawing on that from my 60th. Rob is 5 years younger ( I know… Im a cougar) but he had always invested in his pension. Please feel free to ask any specific questions…. We will go into more detail in a video. It may take us a few weeks to make as we are editing our Italy trip and also working and earning some cash during the summer season. Best, Peg.

Thank you both for answering honestly. We have just sold our house and have worked with the caravan and motorhome club for 4 years now, its a great job but I'm so inspired by what your doing. I'm afraid I've not got a great pension so I couldn't retire on that so fingers crossed a few years and we will be doing what your doing. I'm intrigued where are you working? We are going to head up to Port Douglas and then Lake Tineroo etc. We are also looking at maybe buying an RV later on and living in it for 9 months of the year while touring Australia. @RoyCarterNow Hi Roy, yes I’m from Crosby. Where about are you living in Oz? I would definitely recommend living in a Moho. Rob and I rented one first before we bought. We looked at lots to check out the layouts to see what suited our needs. Ours is called Jurgen, cos he is German and we both support LFC. We loved Port Douglas, preferred it to Cairns. Wished we had stayed there really as it was the best base for the Daintree rainforest and the barrier reef. I suspect you are going to love living in a Moho. Any questions please feel free to ask. Hi Avocado, thanks for your comment. You are right, the tolls on French motorways are very expensive, but even the French A and B roads (that you don’t pay tolls for) are in a much better state of repair than ours. The UK roads are in desperate need of attention. Best, Peg

Hi Paul, thank you very much. We absolutely loved being in NZ. We did sell back to the dealer. We would have tried to sell ourselves but the Moho developed an engine fault just as we were planning to sell… there wasn’t enough time for the parts to be shipped over from Italy. We would definitely recommend buying if you are planning a few months stay. In the end, even with tge dealer taking their cut on the sale we ‘lost’ £7000. This would have been the rent for one month and we enjoyed the Moho for 5 months. If we hadn’t developed an engine fault we think we would have broke even if we sold on ‘Trade me’ . Hi Wayne, we were there early February. The locals said it was unseasonably warm even for Sicily. The thing we loved most was how quiet it was to see all of the sights. It was joyfully quiet and the weather was so much better than the UK. We both fell for Sicily and would return to both these places… we loved staying in the lemon grove. Take care, from Peg 😀
