Nah. This is way too high for average thais. This is expat budget already.
Don’t local Thais get a better deal on rent?
Thank you, Ying! I love detailed cost videos. I work 11 months and spend a month in Thailand, one day I'll be able to stay and not return the US. I enjoy Bangkok, Pattaya, and Hua Hin. Keep the great content coming ;)
Let me know if you want a roommate 😊
Very interesting 👍. But I think some items are missing: phone, internet, clothes, non-food items for household, insurance
Thank you for video, what is the skin tax Falang can expect to pay for same? 🤔
What about, road tax, car insurance, car maintanance, health insurance, etc. You know i so surprised that those boats in benkitti are free to use :)
Living in Bangkok, you don't need to drive at all. Bangkok has 10 mass transit train lines plus buses, boats, taxi's, GRAB etc. Also, Thailand has free healthcare for her own citizens.
@VintageThaiLadyBoy sorry, i think see said see had a car

Dating a Thai girl is more what you would consider a sugar babe in the west. If you find a good women you may not need to pay her with money directly but she still expects you to pay for all the dates, meals ,shopping, jewelry. If you like that go for that. But I wouldn't consider it a serious relationship. To consider marriage/long term relationship I would expect her to pay for 50% of the expenses and be financially stable.
This is such a nice and genuine video! thank you for sharing :) do you recommend to be physically there to look for condos or do you have any good agency to share with me that I can contact from abroad? I'm looking to move in Bangkok in January but I haven't been luck in finding a condo yet 😢
That's a nice breakdown. My rent is locked in at 7000 baht a month. Needless to say I won't be moving any time soon 555
Working 15 days and get paid 34 k, i want this job too…
Why dont u mention u have a rich white husband providing for you?
Great video Have you had any cosmetic surgery?
Are you single
My town is better value.
This is too easy. The one one the right. The one with the hat has to look down to make sure of her steps.
I live with 15-20k a month in Bangkok. Rent is 4000, utility 250, rest is food, cooking, shopping, gym, and insurance. I live in the suburbs of Bangkok and life is great. Bangkok can be good for many budget as long as you can take care of yourself. 🙂
What does take care of yourself mean 😜
4000 B. for rent is just 120 USD. What kind of apartment do you have for such a low price?
@ probably a small apartment in the loca suburbs and you have to “take care of yourself” 😬😜😆
@this.is.berlin It's probably a studio. In the outskirts of bkk there are many rental studio rooms (no kitchen) rented around 3000-6000 baht. Bangkok is really for all kinds of budget.
What lake is it that you recorded your video at? Looks good to just have a walk around on some days. Thanks also for your informative video. I recently moved to BKK and can totally relate to your spendings. But I was blown away from the cheap price for your gym since I pay around 1,700 THB for Jetts in Bang Chak right now. Anyway, is there a way to contact you directly to ask you for some insights regarding the city? That would be much appreciated! I wish you great success here on YT. Keep grinding it.
That is Benchikitti Park.. it’s my favorite place in Bangkok, and im there myself a few times per week.. Looks like Ms Ying was filming there at a busy time !
@@JCinAsia Thanks a lot. I will check it out!
I'm sorry, but something is not right. I live in Thailand. Please do not take Ying's lifestyle as the 'average ' Thai. A vast majority of Thai cannot afford 15,000 bt on food per month. That's more than what most Thai people make in a month. Most Thai people that I know spend something like 65 bt per meal. And I challenge you to find a gym in Bangkok for 500 bt a month. Most gyms charge 200 + for a day pass. That has to be explained to me. So Ying is obviously not your average Thai girl. If you want to survive on less, don't plan to live in Bangkok. Chiang Mai or other much smaller cities are much more affordable.
She's a middle class Thai girl. But if you can earn 50k a month you can afford the lifestyle. My Thai friend owns 2 condos (one for rental) and she's making 60k a month. BTW outside BKK downtown areas are much cheaper. There are tons of them sitting vacant right now due to the current bad economy. You can go as low as 3000 if you want and it's really livable and clean.
This is interesting. As a test, I spent three months this year in Thailand and tried to live like a local person. I have friends in Thailand who gave me tricks and tips, for sure. Housing for me was 12,000 (utilities included). Unlimited internet: 1,000. Transportation was about the same: 4,000. Food was much less: 4,600, more or less, and physical training was 1,000. When I'm in Thailand I eat only Thai food, and never cook, except once a month I will splurge on a pizza or a burger. My budget includes going out with friends in my running club once a week, which is part of my food budget and part of my workout budget. I'll add some extra for drinks or sundries: 2,000. I didn't feel deprived of anything, but I didn't include regular medical. I only had traveller's medical insurance. So, all in all my budget was 24,600 THB (I'm sure it would be at least twice this amount if I was not single). I think that's workable for a retiree who lives like a local. Same same, really, although I know some Thai people who are paying 6,000 for their apartments, or they have cars, or cook a lot, which will change things. Considering their salary might be only 15,000 in total, I think they're even better than me or Ying at being economical. That's $1,025 Canadian per month, by the way, and a far cry from the $4,500 I spend in Vancouver for essentially the same lifestyle.
You're indeed living like a local. I splurged once a month also, but on MK restaurant instead of Pizza. I like Shabu.
@@ApatheticNonbuynary I did do that too. I guess that's comes under the splurge catagory. The place I like is 299, and I usually treat someone, so it comes out to around 1,000 with beer. It's a sundry expense. Haha!
Bruh... That's like $720 USD per month. Even my rent alone is almost $1200 and not include food and transportation.
@@briannewton9369 living in a countryside is impossible to find actually good shabu alternative that isn't some crusty dungeon. MK is super overrated and overpriced. Some cheap chain needs to come here ASAP.
@@DailyThingsInLife, your rent in Thailand? There are dozens of price points to accommodate anyone. Some people spend a lot more than I feel the need to. My costs in Canada are at least four times the amounts I've listed.
That’s nice one
300usd per month, right on a train line? That's a nice deal.
Your monthly income can cover all that expense?! I'm only spending 25k ~30k Bhat a month for everyday living in BKK as an expacts retiree. It is super convenient to staying in walkable distance to local supermarkets without relying on transportation every time go out shopping for food. Even though I can get my groceries delivered to my place. I still prefer pick up my own vegetables, fresh meat and dairy products. I know sometimes it coast more to cook your own food, but at least take the risk out of getting diarrhea everyday 😅
Very well done video Thank You
Very pretty! I guess its all location, Do your homework first!
$1k USD/month expense is big money for a younger single thai and quite a luxurious lifestyle (and these weren't all the expenses in a full budget, just the basics). Double what the average take home pay for a newer university graduate is in Bangkok. Thai lady eating out all meals, party time with friends, high spec city condo, lol. You want it all and won't settle for anything less. You go girl.
Thanks for your comment 🙌
Most young Thais live with their parents until they get married. So they save on rent. Or they rent studio rooms(Thais call them dormitories, its basically a furnished room with bathrooms, no kitchen but some places they allow to cook on the balcony) The price is very cheap, 3000-6000 bahts. There a a lot of them outside downtown areas. The food cost is the main problem because it's hard to keep it under 10,000 bahts a month for a single guy.
Nice cost breakdown Ying. I like how your apartment is designed. Some channels, the rooms are almost integrated with only a sliding panel for privacy.
Thanks for your comment 😊
Health Insurance? Holiday? Clothes? Girl things aka shopping? Etc For all westeners: Do NOT expect to live in Bangkok for 1000 US $ a month! 2000 is a good start for a good life.
Yes, $2000 USD is a good number for foreigners who want to live comfortably in Thailand. This excludes heavy drinkers and party animals.
Insurance. Can get one for 14,000/year (a little more than 1000/month…this is AIA). Holiday: Thais go on holidays like crazy. A trip to the beach, mountains with cheap airfares and wouldn’t cost much. Shopping: if you are thrifty, you can find clothes 200-300 Baht a piece for something decent. I’ll throw in weekly massage for 300 Baht/week too while at it. I know it might be hard to believe but great value is all around.
Would love to take you to lunch sometime ❤
Good to hear that fair base case from you.
Great Video ! You did so good in staying on point when that kid came across the video 🤣
Thank you!! 😁
Thanks for sharing, very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing Ying 🙏
1 year condo contract right? Not short term.
Most of the condos here don’t offer short term rental 🙏
@@yinginthailand Thank you. I just got back my Thai citizenship at 55 years old. Need to relearn Thai. Take care, great video quality and audio.
If hve bf he pay all restaurant travel condo zero cost n 100 percent save this reason thai girl like farang bf in most cases invest in house condo purchase n car.
Onut is expat costly area bearing samrong much cheaper n beyond
Hello Ying im in BKK i checked here for condo for a middle Price Class
Reference ...median income in Thailand is $350......this looks like High Class Woman
Very interesting video, I like seeing a local Thai person point of view a lot and this gives a starting point of the cost of a decent life in Bangkok.
Thank you for watching ☺️
funny and interesting hearing your thoughts! Your English is great!
Thank you! 😃
Thank you great video! How is the internet stability in general? This is important for me to know in terms of working remote
Yes, the internet I used is very stable. It’s also very important for my work as well so I can confirm 💯
If I came to Thailand, you could cook for me?😊😊
What a stupid comment Boy 🤣😂!!!
The obvious boyfriend might not like it. Ask, who is filming? 555
It’s Disgusting comment with disrespectful, very rude and inappropriate. It showing how’s your background and minds
Your apartment is located in which part of Bangkok and which BTS is closest? Just trying to visualize ... considering the rent you mentioned.
On Nut
It’s Onnut 🙌
