Review China malahit v3

A little review about another, new china malahit clone... I purchased this at Ebay, there are different sellers offering it, some offering it with 1.10b installed as ´official authorized version with possibility of updating´... But it is not!! To update you need to purchase a activation from the russian developers. The price goes from 140$ up to 200$.... Aliexpress sells it as well.

It's not a "Chinese clone", it is MADE BY CHINESE 🇨🇳 and designed by Russians 🇷🇺 I love mine 😍
I bought one. Confusing controls, bad sound, generally sucks.
I will like to do that only because I hate clicking encoders, I will love to have a normal smooth one but gosh, I dont know if I love it that much to go through all of that work, plus be able to purchase the right encoder unless I try to remove the clicking part
what an tenna ddid you use for the video? it had a big broadband and worked well for receiving in all bands
Did you know this model is Russian design radio SDR and originally made in China? Wht do you mean clone?
Andy где мне купить такую плату? Дай ссылку пожалуйста.
I couldn’t find the part shown in your video. But I found some individual encoders from the russian version that I would have to solder in.
Para los que no hablamos ingles, muy bien, vives estás en España y lo de hacer un vídeo en Castellano no se contempla, así que dislike
Very good tear down and explanation. You replied to a question concerning "writing" to aliexpress to get the encoder board. Would you please elaborate on how to do that? I can't find an ability to contact them from their website. Thanks very much in advance!
I second this. I would need to know where to order a replacement unit from. I badly need a replacement unit (2 encoders soldered on a PCB as shown on 14:43) for my Chinese Malahit DSP2, and can't find where to order one, as the person who sold me the receiver did not remember which vendor he had bought the radio from. Thanks in advance!
Hi, were can i buy this stand ?
Thanks very much for this. Just done mine. I ordered 2 of them so I have a spare for when it breaks again.
Please where did you order them ? Thanks.
Hi Andy, Where did you bought the stand you have on back of the malahit?
About the CE logo on a Chinese product: this CE logo is an almost exact copy of the ‘original’ European CE logo. In fact, Chinese manufacturers have developed their own CE logo. However, the meaning of that logo says absolutely nothing about safety or any kind of approval, but simply stands for ‘China Export’ and thus has a completely different purpose. The China CE logo is a mark indicating that the product was manufactured for export from China. It is not an indication of compliance with any safety or quality standards and is not recognized by the European Union or any other regulatory body outside China. In short, therefore, any product made in China and exported from that country to other countries may bear that Chinese CE logo. The Chinese CE logo was launched years ago so that manufacturers can easily prove that the product was made in China. China's choice of a CE logo is anything but accidental. The Chinese know all too well that a well-known logo inspires confidence among consumers. And so years ago, they came up with a logo that is just short of an exact copy of the CE mark.
It's totally crazy that the whole receiver needs to be stripped down to replace a part which will wear out easily. 🤷♂ Thanks for the video, Andy. 🙂👍
Agree, but then again it’s a piece of cake compared to changing out parts in an iPhone, which are also prone to wear-down. Must say that the way it has been put together at least looks well engineered. Nice video.
What's crazy is that this thing const over $300 considering what it is
Wow , glad I have original russian DSP2, that is crazy the disassembly needed for a common replacement
where did you get the stands ?
3:59 battery 3.7v 755590 5000mAh sonner or later it must be replaced
You have a link ?
Do not need a licence to recieve radio signals only to tx
Gute saubere Arbeit👍🏻
I don't see any thermal runaway protection for the battery. Isn't that a must-have for li-ion batteries? There are only two wires to the battery, positive and negative, and no visible thermal sensor on the circuit board.
Perfekt 👍👍👍
I like your blue and usb screwdriver Where did u buy them?
I got mine from Amazon, it is well made and has a very good selection of bits. It comes in a nice plastic case. 73’s
Qual o link de compra?
please send the link
There is no link for the product. You must write to them and ask for the replacement encoders for the DSP2. It's not a official listed product.
@@sunsoundz Didn't they warn you to do it yourself, because there something could go wrong?
Hello, I can't find the part on AliExpress.
What was the reason for replacing the decoder, was it intermittent? A lot of them can be restored to working just by squiritng in some contact cleaner. Also this guy needs to get a microphone so we can hear him!
In my case the encoder had a dead part, no more reaction for a half turn.. I tried with contact cleaner but no luck..
I tried that and it didn't work. I think the issue is the encoder gets worn out rather than dirty. They could save wear on it by implementing progressive tuning.
In my case I turned the Encoder too often too fast instead of tapping the display to a point , where a strong signal was.
@@andreasg7834 That's what I do mostly as well... but still, after some month it happened..
Excellent video and very useful
First! Shoutout to "Malahit DSP2 Group WorldWide".
I'm not getting it. Original Malahit IS produced in China, so how this clone differs from original? Price? How much is this clone?
The original malahit has a different design.. technically they are identical. The price for the dsp2 clone is very variable, just look on ali express for malahit dsp2 .. I got mine when it just came out and i paid around 280 euros, now the price is a bit higher...
Officially licensed clone. So money goes to russians? No thanks. Otherwise this would be a nice device to get.
The money goes to the chinese producer, and they pay a license fee for the software to the makers of malahit, two russian ham radio amateurs.. There is no politics in hamradio..
@@sunsoundz Ok thanks. So some money is going to russians. It's a no go for me then. Politics or not. I will send that money to Ukraine.
@@sunsoundz Americans find politics in everything, they are brainwashed that way. BUT I agree there is no place for politics in Ham Radio.❤❤❤❤
@@dibruka7240 So you give money to Nazi's
And what about vlf band? It can listen dcf77- 77.4khz for example? Thanks friend.
With the right antenna you can, yes.
📻 Can a software update extend the frequency range? I heard they were coming out with a radio that goes up to 6 ghz 📡 Also, any tricks to opening up that dead spot between 380 and 400mhz?
No, the hardware does not support that.
nice review! thx!!!
Very nice [re]view! Gracias!
I bought the malahit dsp2 from banggood, arrived 10 days ago, it supposed to have 5000mAh battery but i noticed it runs out just after few hours, so i opened the back and it has a 800mah battery, i m pursuing a refund of the cost of a new battery but banggood are trying everything to avoid a £25 refund. They are dishonest. Don't buy anything from BANGGOOD they will cheat you.
Not bad but too expensive. I'll try to build SDR based on raspberry pi , touchscreen and batteries.
What antenna do you use ?
I use different antennas: A endfed halfwave multiband antenna and MLA30+ active loop. My favourite is the K180WLA active loop, its the most sensitive on HF and goes up to 180MHz.
@@sunsoundz I own K180WLA , too.
Put the camera on a stand, please.
It's frustrating when people post a great video, and don't provide a link where they got it. Why ??
Just look in aliexpress. There are different providers...
Hi, is there any way of unbricking the chinese version of DSP2 please?
Nice review
Hi Andy, is there a big difference between the Malahit DSP1?
Chinese are still don't get importanceoof trasceiver style large size and conveniently located tuning handle. Still on every clone it's a cheap pocket radio style small tuning knob and on this model it's actually a worst case - it's on top!.. very disappointing.
Mine is coming tomorrow. I'm 57 now and built my 1st AM radio when I was 9 years old lol. Love how technology advanced over the years. Got an SDR dongle on my laptop but wanted something of high quality and totally portable. I'm into data modes now, especially SSTV. This is the beast I've been waiting for 💪👌
어디서 구입할수있나요?
Aliexpress
Hi , only for information ... at time 1:50 you speak of CE certificate... It isn't Europe certificate but China Export logo Check logo in internet.
The original malahit is made in russia by two ham radio amateurs. The waiting time is very long and the momentary situation made it very difficult to pay to russia. So they gave license to some chinese companies to build 'clones' in china with full licensed software. There are different models of clones on the market, but this M2 chinese malahit is the most robust made case, very nice design and very professional inside with good quality parts.
@@sunsoundz And it is still China Export certificate, not European Union...
@@anarkicio You are right.. the c-e letters must have a bigger space... What's about the FCC sign ?
@@sunsoundz use google
Been looking at this for a while, just pulled the trigger today, 1st time ordering anything from this site, so fingers crossed.
Can it receive 2 Meters and 70cm Ham ?
Yes
Yes I agree this is one nice and full featured radio.
Quick question for Ham radio: in the 144-148 and 440-450 mhz, does the receiver have Squelch for FM? How do you change the squelch threshold? Txs
Yes, via audio menu.
