Great video!! Lol.. actually fun to listen to you test this... the renia seems like, with my experience using it, works very well...but the trick it seems, is in the drying or tacking up phase.. I've found using blow dryer, to warm it up, right before setting my pieces together, seemscwork best.. I'm still hesitant to use Renia on projects, where they'll be used outdoors in all kinds of weather.. Barge is my old stand by.. lol. Speaking of Barge---- what I've nit seen, is a test using t h e tulene free, [ or toxic fumes/ chemicals, not present] , in the Barge... ummm, wonder if it's as strong as regular Barge??? mine has brutal interlaced motion regardless of video or comp. anyone find a solve to this? other than obs' terrible de-interlacing?

i read that the IOData is really the gold standard. i wonder if this true. i bought the Elgato video capture device, but i don't have a VCR with S-Video output, so after trying to capture some video footage, i do see some hazyness when playing the created video file. i will try to get an IOData.

i used to livestream with dat exact capture card until i had a PC which could handle my AverMedia C027 alot better, i'd like to see u're thoughts about an AverMedia C027 and for my experience, it does work better with AmerREC.tv310

i just bought a new old stock Black Magic Intensity Pro (Non 4K) for less than $70 USD because i needed something which was gunna be supported passed Windows 10 or Linux if i had to go those routes with my dedicated livestreaming PC and it seems like tha 4k version is kinda out of touch compared to its non 4K model heck i needed a 1x PCI E version of a analog capture card and not a pci-e 4x VERSION

This is an excellent channel, I wish I could have forced my hand not to click subscribe, but it did sadly. Would you be at all interested in reviewing the Video 2 Mac capture device? It aims to do the seemingly impossible and capture analogue video to newer Macs through OBS affordably. I have no idea if it does this well, but the device seems to be the only one beside the Elcrappo which looks after us Mac users. I'd be fascinated to see your take, and may even consider unsubscribing in a fit of gratitude...

I subscribed instantly. After watching for a bit, I feel that might have been a mistake.

When it comes to setting the levels/proc amp, try using Virtualdub2... enable capture mode, select your device, then select video/histogram. Now select video/cropping, and crop any black borders and save. Black borders will give false readings for the histogram. Now select video/levels... move Brightness until the left side of the histogram is close to the left edge, but with no red bars. Now adjust Contrast until close to right edge, but again, no red bars. Watch as much of the video until you're sure you don't creep into the red. There's guides on "Virtualdub capturing" that explain it better. If you continue to capture with Virtualdub, are sure to set cropping back to 0's. Personally, I use AmaRecTV to capture... Virtuadub gives me sync issues in Windiws 10. Also, I'm curious about the USB3 model... it has component video input... I'd like to try connecting my SVHS player to my DMR-ES16 player/recorder through svideo, but output to the Startech using the DMR-ES16's component out connections, then capture direct to RGB. Curious how the quality would compare to standard YUV captures through svideo.

my regal dude, how are you running a clean line out of the composite on the blackmagic & capturing back in at the same time? I can't get resolve to send anything out of the composite, which is insane. I can run a clean feed to my bodgy hdmi to av converter, but not from the BM4K

The software for Elgato installs incompatible drivers which means you have to turn Memory core isloation off. It's a pain in the ass to uninstall Elgato drivers to get memory core turned back on.

I capture my analog video in the most exquisite way, by running the the signal into a blackmagic analog to sdi into a blackmagic video assist into prores 422hq and then printed on 16mm Kodak Vision 3 500T 7219 film via an arrilaser and then scanning it back on a lasergraphic 6.5k HDR, truly the best quality.

I liked this episode too. And FYI, there is an episode of the (unfortunately Canadian) 90s Outer Limits TV series called “Hearts and Minds” from around the same time that has a similar plot. It’s a darker tone with some decent twists and turns. It’s worth checking out
