@doublebase6509 depending on what you do in them, how often you wear em, how frequently you properly care for them, and getting good resoles.., i think they could go on for a decade! And you could even rebuild them.. twice over potential.. taking it to 20 years of wear.. but i don't see the point of rebuilding.. id just get new boots by then.. glad you're enjoying them.. i found them comfortable right away but then they got even better over time

@@toneohm I do automotive…a lot of cement floors, oils, grease, welding, rust, nasty stuff. And I kick everything to save my back. Occasionally I’ll use them for outdoors stuff. I agree, these things could potentially last me a long time, for me maybe two years. I’ve never gone more than a year and a half in a boot before they either were so swamped out or torn down to nothing, so this will be a great test. Usually I’ll get ten months out of a boot.

@jamessims9475 my feet are really adaptable to different types of footwear.. can't remember the last time i got a blister or anything.. But i can say,, i wore these all day the other week.., definitely took more out of me than many other boots, despite their well fit.. and it's likely the firm temper of the cordovan

@EDHBlvd hey,, yeah i finally bought a darn Brannock cause i hadn't used one since i was a kid, and i figured out I'm a 9D Brannock.. even though in sneakers i wear a 9.5 usually.. so now in boots im getting 8-9D depending on the brand and last.. these fit like a glove at my Brannock size. and so her description of how Julians sizing works was pretty good

hey, good question.. Yes.. all Wesco boots come with shanks.. Steel shanks are the standard type for all their shanks.. I'm pretty sure you could request a different type of shank if doing a custom boot.. they might be willing to do leather or fiberglass shanks on request, which may impact the price.. particularly a leather option.. Most other PNW boot brands use leather shanks only.. ( White's, Nick's, Frank's, JK, etc..) but then a company like Viberg or John Lofgren, they use steel shanks..

@evsnova74 yes the tongue was certainly lackluster... i will say though., it makes sense for the type of boot it is.. the quarters have a big reach,, so they're isn't much room between them for a thicker tongue to really sit.. this feature gives it more of a dress look, which is then offset by the taller heel and round bump toe.. giving it a slightly more rugged look

@CsawBoots yeah that's how i started talking to her, through ebay,, but they didn't have any boots i wanted left in my size .. after alot of sparse emails,, she offered these and i was psyched for a more unusually shell color.., talking to her on the phone was much better but still work cause she wanted to talk about everything! hah,, very sweet though,, i could make all the time in the world for her lol,, it was great getting all the history behind things. on one hand, i wish the they got more notice as a company.. but then again, i like that he remains a niche bootmaker that you have to deep dive to learn about.. the number of models he offers and materials.. it's pretty impressive.. i think a cordovan engineer boot would be awesome,, thanks for stopping through! 👊👊

yea I'm particular about that style as well.. Viberg and White's MP are pretty much all i need in the area but these were a bit special to me.. what style do you like now..?

@@toneohm I have a pair of cinnamon wax flesh MP boots from whites and love those. Bulletproof and so comfy at this point. Also have a ton of character. I’ve got the engineer boot bug now, bad. Just picked up some attractions in crust horsebutt. I have a couple other pairs of engineers too. I work in an office so I been incorporating loafers and more dressy shoes now. Only so much room/budget for this hobby lol

@@MkGreene actually,, PNWs are widely used by ppl with issues like you're talking about.. shin splints, back issues, knees, etc.. as long as you don't have a completely flat foot.. you'll love it! arch support is everything now that I've experienced the difference.. I'll never do hard work in boots without it now. as for the upper style.. id do the combo again.. i generally prefer smooth but for work, this combo is ideal bc rough out doesn't crease.. for dirt to get trapped.. but it's a balance.. rough out is harder to clean.. you need a brass brush and a difference type of cleaner/conditioner.. and rough out does stand of to scuff n scrapes much better.. but smooth uppers(quarter panel) are always ideal imo.. this is the best boot to try for your first pnw.. unless you have a really wide, chunky foot.., go 1 whole size down.. these are wider than the standard 55 last in the toe.. but more narrow in the heel n waist comparatively.. my heels lock in perfectly.. especially after the first month of wear.. they only get better in form.. (expect the arch.. that part flattens out more over time)

Buy them and never look back, it'll be the best thing you ever did for your feet or your experience at work (after the break-in). My feet used to hurt so bad at the end of the day I wanted to cry. On my days off, I was trying to stay off my feet, soak them, rub them down, anything to make it better. NO MORE! I've said goodbye to all of that, thank God. DO it.

Sounds like you need either these Drew’s with the 55-1 last or the Nicks with their Thurman last. They’re wider at the forefoot than the usual PNW style lasts.

@EDHBlvd i do like the flat toe more visually.. the Rancher is a soft toe and will probably flatten out more in time,, the 310 is crazy bumped! lol,, i do have Julians Bowery boots,, I'm gonna go release a video on soon.. thats definitely a bump toe i like though.. idk,, I'm just picky i guess.. i do like the 2040 and 1035 all the same though. i def want 1 more pair of Vibergs somewhere down the road. i got Shinki Lofgrens engineers coming today, they cost me n arm and a leg so i need to chill out at some point here lol,, I'm like in the throws of boot addiction right now.. Frank's.. pair a Junkyard.. and I'm stopping for a few months.. (even though i have a mental list with a couple more) smh 🤦

@EDHBlvd yeah i know its supposed to be pretty similar.. fun fact.. 11067 , i believe that's the date Frank n his wife got married .. something like that 1/10/67.. i think Nick's uses it too still, right? i still prefer the look of the 55 last but i like the way the arch is on this 4811 more.. it's just a tiny bit more noticeable

@@toneohm Nicks has the 11067. Franks calls their Last the “1977”. I think Bakers used to list it as the “11077”. I am skeptical Frank married his wife in 1967. They aren’t that old.

from what I've come to find,, the first numbers usually represent which week of the year.., rather than month.. because you'll often find boots that may say,, 15 22... or 39 23.. 22 18... things like that.. so its gotta be week.. the spacing on these numbers really threw me off though

@@toneohm weird. Just a coincidence that every pair I own (far less than you) have been built within that first 12 weeks then. Though I have some older pairs off eBay that make no sense, like "8 9". Like, they were made in 89? I kinda doubt it. I guess it's possible.

@evsnova74 yeah they probably just left the zeros out,, like 8th week of 2009 id imagine.. i just seen someone post an ebay link the other day though to some old Wesco boots,, with like a quadruple midsole and those actually were from 1988! lol things are a year older than me,, and in better condition too 😅

@Dukeofmamucas they're my next boot brand.. I've tried all the other PNWs.. I hear they're the best. Saved the best for last! Lol,, I do have a soft spot for White's though

@@toneohm I mean it’s subjective. I have 2 Wesco’s and a pair of franks . I actually prefer the Jobmaster last to the 55, but I like both. My understanding is they will do almost anything for a price. Whites is the only one still doing the hand sew’s though. No real benefit to it, but it is the traditional way.

@Dukeofmamucas Franks will handsew for a 60 dollar upcharge.. so technically they're willing to do it for a lesser price than White's.. they just don't standardize it., which is smart of them for lead time purposes

@@toneohm well there you go! They will do just about anything. They do resoles and rebuilds on other brands too. I know they have a cobbler who works on everything too. I’ve never called and asked if they do mail in on the general repair side( could you send say a red wing not a pnw) probably could because they sell Danner and some other brands

@@jeweltom2973 thanks for keeping up with the channel for so long,, i do have a BMM mod video to put out very soon.. and I'll probably do a throwback video on the Crossbow rba.. i know vape videos have slowed down significantly for many of the channels out there,, for me, it's mostly a time thing.. (Summer is a very busy time for me work wise) .. along with the spending and deviation of interests.. not sure things will ever bounce back to what they were for me in say 2022..., but I'll still release vape content every so often

Viberg Color 4 though... very impressive 👌 I would love to have those.. they probably offer the best cordovan, I imagine the clickings on point.. thick shell n all

@toneohm ooof I definately wanted those shinki lofgrens but the last isn't as good for me. I got the Ludlow boot in shinki tho. And yea you would hope that vibergs were good for the price. It was eye watering and the final grail boot XD (for now)
