    At least a heel is 40 bucks to replace at any cobbler. Sometimes they can get it done same day

    Been eyeing these boots. I'm at the point where all of my cheap boots have expired and it's time to finally buy something that will last. I only have one pair of boots where the sole is actually stitched and not just glued and they're the only ones where the glue hasn't just melted in the Florida sun and the soles fallen off. I'm also really sick of my boots never actually fitting right. I seem to have narrow heels and wide toes. I've tried all the mainstream mass production brands. They're all crap. I've never tried a logger style heel. Wonder if it will help with what feels like chronic shin splints. Right now I do farm work with some part time handyman work. So I put hard work into them, but it's not constant hard work, if they're built right I should be able to take care of them and make them last. This Florida weather though. Boots are either soaking wet or deep in sand that feels like lava.
    You're welcome for the rant. lol. Thanks for doing the review.
    If you were to buy them again, would you get the rough out or the smooth? I like the two tone look.

      @@MkGreene actually,, PNWs are widely used by ppl with issues like you're talking about.. shin splints, back issues, knees, etc.. as long as you don't have a completely flat foot.. you'll love it! arch support is everything now that I've experienced the difference.. I'll never do hard work in boots without it now.
      as for the upper style.. id do the combo again.. i generally prefer smooth but for work, this combo is ideal bc rough out doesn't crease.. for dirt to get trapped.. but it's a balance.. rough out is harder to clean.. you need a brass brush and a difference type of cleaner/conditioner..
      and rough out does stand of to scuff n scrapes much better.. but smooth uppers(quarter panel) are always ideal imo.. this is the best boot to try for your first pnw.. unless you have a really wide, chunky foot.., go 1 whole size down.. these are wider than the standard 55 last in the toe.. but more narrow in the heel n waist comparatively.. my heels lock in perfectly.. especially after the first month of wear.. they only get better in form.. (expect the arch.. that part flattens out more over time)

    So Im 5'5" & also a little "top heavy" now, Im a 54 year old welder. Ive been wearing loggers my whole life for work. Ive got a pretty high arch & loggers are what works for me. Anyway, your stature dictates that you take care of your knees. Short, stout guys usually have knee problems & tall lanky guys usually have bad lower backs. I wish someone would have told me certain things about blue collar physical labor when I was a younger man. Both my knees are effed. Dude, take care of those knees & dont go stressin em out everyday or you'll regret it in 30 years. Btw- Im currently rockin the Franks patriots & man they're good.

      @@toneohm I hear ya there. Let me say this though, if you end up with a job that pays well & doesnt kick the crap out of your body, try to remain a strong badass throughout your later years. Too many American men are either way affeminant or just plain out of shape . Yea, his monkey boots are killer. Id like to hook up with a pair of those myself.

    Would you recommend the 10 inch or the 8 inch?

    • @toneohm
      @toneohm  21 день тому +1

      @vaxid5940 it depends on whether you work in a hot area or cold..
      I like the fit of a 10 inch boot more.. but I try to cheap in mind how hot it gets area me.. we have weeks of 90+ degree weather here

      I prefer an 8-10 inch boot for general support

    Nice review. Redwing moctoe very light. Maybe try 8.5d or e based on your reviews. They will tell you size 9 but you will look like clown shoe

      thanks,, I just picked up some used Iron Rangers as lightweight beater boots for the fast pace work days.. and that's exactly what I did, 8.5D.. I was shocked when I realized how big they actually were.. I thought Red Wings sizing was just like Thorogood.. apparently not..
      i have some Thorogood Mocs in 8.5D for my other job where I'm walking on concrete the whole time (warehouse/storefront) and the Red Wings run much bigger.. basically the same as PNW sizing. cause I have some other PNWs in 8.5.. I think its the last too.. not only are IR boots long.., but they have that loose Munson last shape in the toe area.. even though the heel and waist are decently snug.., the forefoot feels too sloppy.. maybe the previous owner stretched them outta shape, idk..

      @@toneohm if you try whites Perry select, you can probably go 8d or E. They are even bigger.

    I dont want to sound like a douche but, instead of going to lighter boot, how bout ya get a nice bike & roll that thing a couple miles a day & build up that leg strength. Just a thought, no h8. This is a great boot channel. Thanks man.

      @toneohm  Місяць тому

      @frankrice1253 " ain't nobody got time fo that" hah,,, well.. I liked the idea of having two different work boots.. I've been wanting to try Red Wing bc of their history in boots.. but it's hard to justify them as yet another casual pair.. so this was the perfect excuse.. lol,, but either way,, with all the stuff I do all day.. riding a bike won't matter.. I move heavy ass wheel barrows almost daily.. if I was gonna develop more leg stress.. it would have happened by now.. I'd have to put in some serious gym time to make that much of a difference.. and what I already do in a day is more physical than most ppl my age would be up for anyway.
      It's just my genetics.. lower body strength just doesn't come as easy,,
      I like the Dead icon btw..✌️
