      @ thanks! will look for it later. I didn’t get anything from the app search bar though. btw i think alan is still more like an INFJ than and ISFJ to me, idk but i don’t find him not particularly aware of how the three actors changed over time as HP series continued is a persuasive demonstration of the Sensing function, whether it be Se or Si imo. In his diary he wrote in a rather reasoning-lacking way (from T function pov), sentences and flow kinda broken even. But for him it must have been always ready for pick-up, which is perfect for Ni. Both INFJ and ISFJ has a good development of Fe so that’s why he was considerate in his answers. However i’m more of a Jungian functions believer than an MBTI one so there may be some differences, for instance i wholly disagree with the idea of differentiating people with J and P types.

    As an INTP Schizoid guy, possibly with some form of Autism & ADHD in the mix as well, I can relate to Bobby Fischer a whole lot. I see myself in him in a lot of ways. Therefore I, you could say 'intuitively', disagree with people online who type him as INTJ. Due to a thorough understanding of who I am at age 26 and consuming a lot of information about Bobby Fischer I believe he is almost certainly an INTP with a high likelihood of also being able to be classified as someone with Schizoid Personality Disorder. Some examples off of the top of my head of why I believe he was an INTP, randomly ordered (reasons I have for thinking he had Schizoid Personality Disorder below this list): 1) In a Dick Cavett interview he was asked if he was good at mathematics. His answer, paraphrased, was something along the lines of "I didn't care much to broaden my knowledge in that field". This describes his attitude towards many things in life, if you ever watch any of his interviews or look at his life objectively you would know this. If he does not care about something but is forced to participate because of external factors, he will do the bare minimum. Meanwhile, if he really cares about something deeply, such as chess, he will obsess over it and do everything in his power to become the best at it. INTP's generally do not care about anything than what they truly care about themselves. And if they don't care about something, they will put in little to no effort whatsoever. 2) Looking at the graph of Bobby Fischer's elo shown within a timelapse video named "The history of the top chess players over time" (ua-cam.com/video/z2DHpW79w0Y/v-deo.html) you can see that the graph is very inconsistent. This is typical INTP behavior rather than INTJ. INTJ's are very consistent when working at things. INTP's are quite erratic, they might sometimes even be lazy for periods of time even if obsessed about a certain topic something, have periods of ups and downs, etc. Motivation comes in waves for the typical INTP. Even though he clearly wanted to become the best at chess, looking at the graph you can see that he either: 1) goes on a sort of 'autopilot' mode for extended periods of time before his graph shoots up rapidly again or 2) if he doesn't go on 'autopilot' mode, he simply doesn't learn as well in a consistent kind of manner, & randomly figures things out in short bursts of time rather than gradually improving steadily over time. 3) He has an abstract, top down view of things, which is one of the hallmarks of being an INTP. 4) He has very unique viewpoints not only on chess but on many political matters. Even very controversial opinions. This is a trait that is very INTP, because INTP's, when coming to a conclusion on a certain matter, do not care about 1. other people's opinions, or 2. political correctness (in fact, the more politically incorrect, the better, as long as one views it as being truthful). INTP's care only about their own internal thought process, not what others deem 'right' or 'wrong', morally or factually. 5) Once he has made up his mind about something, it's over. In the INTP's mind he has: 1. done his research, 2. come to his own conclusion, and 3. he is right and cannot be swayed by anyone else unless new information makes him believe that he was wrong initially. The key point is that only he himself can change his own mind, nobody else can do it for him. Even if the whole world stands against him, as long as he believes he is right, he will not change his opinion. Very INTP. 6) He was simply extremely erratic in all kinds of ways. As a single example, he was not punctuous at all, often arriving late to scheduled chess matches. Why? He explained that he often went to bed at around 5 or 6 AM and only woke up half an hour or so before the start of the match later in the day. INTP's are often very messy & can't stand routine. A typical INTJ would be far more punctuous than this. 7) His creative moves while playing chess is something I believe fits better with an INTP personality type rather than an INTJ personality type. INTP's are generally more creative than INTJ's are. INTJ's are more punctuous & consistent compared to the messiness & creativeness of INTP's I could probably type about more examples, but I think you get the gist. He did show INTJ traits, of course everything is a spectrum and he won't score 100% introverted, 100% intuitive, etc., but I believe he is moreso P than J as his final function. The major traits displayed that might fit with INTJ moreso than INTP are 1) Even being able to stick to a single obsession for such an extended amount of time, this is unusual for an INTP (perhaps the degree of his giftedness & positive feedback from his surroundings due to his success prolonged his obsession towards the game. Being rewarded not only internally but also externally for your intelligence while playing chess must feel very satisfying to the INTP), 2) Wearing suits and generally looking quite well-kempt in all of his TV footage during his younger years. Although he 1. didn't look quite as well-kempt as he got older and 2. possibly only dressed well on the very few occasions that he knew he would be on TV (e.g. for scheduled matches/tournaments or interviews). Examples for why I believe he had Schizoid Personality Disorder: 1) His general reclusiveness, 2) Seemingly not caring about close relationships all that much (although he did have some during his career, but they were only able to be created in a comfort zone, centered around the activity of playing chess) 3) Didn't really do much besides chess & reading (probably did not experience much pleasure in many things other than intellectual affairs that he had interest in), 4) Did not like confrontation/disagreements where middle ground had to be found. It was either his way or no way at all. I can see this in myself also. I want things to be clear & exactly how I want them to be. I don't believe in negotiation and really dislike it. Fischer definitely did not like not getting his way and having to negotiate. 5) Didn't care much about eventual further accomplishments (if it meant having to negotiate terms and be on others' terms). 6) I think, after Fischer became World Champion, there was a deep fear within him of losing to others and having to meet such high expectations that he had created for himself. I don't think he would have lost to Karpov in 1975 if he had kept working at it from 1972 until then, but I think being watched by everyone, becoming so incredibly popular, & performing at such an insanely high standard created both a fear within him of having to maintain the standards he had set for himself as well as, on a separate note, being able to say to himself, unrelated to everyone else: "See? You're the best. You've proven it all. Why would you keep going now? There's no point to it anymore. I know if I just keep going like I should then I'll keep winning. I can see the outcomes already. It's no longer exciting. There's nothing to chase anymore". I think he had satisified himself intellectually & felt like what he had achieved already showed more than enough, which is very INTP, to not care anymore once you've proven something to yourself that you wanted to prove, & also feared many things related to expectations, which is very much related to both INTP as well as Schizoid, in my opinion.

      Oh yeah, another point arguing for INTP rather than INTJ: His hatred for chess becoming more and more based around memorization rather than creativity. His creation of Chess960 to randomize starting positions in order to escape having moves played by the book for the initial 10, 20 or even more moves at the start of a game, all memorized prematurely. His desire to let talent and creativity shine on the board based on theoretical knowledge/concepts rather than by knowing which moves were best 'in practice', proven by previous games and later by chess engines.

    I think... she's an ESFJ... they know the right things to say... need a lot... give a lot. generally very acceptable people in society. But can also be highly manipulative. Their feeling is that others must speak well of them, everything is geared in this direction.

    I would disagree with this video as well as other mentions and say - ENFJ And ISFJ as probably the LEAST likely HERES WHY: As a data scientist, ESPECIALLY, a leader of the field, absolutely requires intuition. As a data scientist, I knew from a young age, this is how my mind worked and fit in the world, connecting the abstract to the abstract. Finding the patterns that the average person doesnt see. Theorizing and predicting. A person like him would have to have Ni or Ne toward the top of the stack. With Ni being most likely (since he is top of this field). You both mentioned an Fe that he has reigned in, which I agree. ENFJ male, would be conditioned to lean on his second function which is Ni. ENFJ also has Ti as last in the stack, which was mentioned in the video as well. ENFJs make great, well-rounded leaders, because they can read a room so well, they will know which traits, their audience will prefer, respect, admire, accept, etc., from a leader. In his profession, there is a VERY high ratio of thinkers to feelers. A good leader or role model will always present as reserved in this field. NO ONE would take him seriously if he didnt. An ENFJ would be well aware of this, as well as, have the capacity to adjust properly. An ISFJ has Si as their dominant function, and Ne as their last. This would actually be THE LAST type, I would type him as. They tend to actually fear theorizing, working in a brand new and developing field without any tried and true systems, or guidelines to work within that stat the same. Data science requires constant openess to new ideas, changing your methods everytime a better one presents itself, literally not assuming any one way is best, changing approaches constantly based on the why, the how, the who, and the what of every new project. I believe all other assumptions about him were correct, but the missing link was actually understanding how very specific , both success and the interest in this field requires. You simply CANNOT without high intuition. Which is fair that most people dont actually know this, nor are they expected to. Along with this example, if you are typing a person, if they stand out by being one of the best or one of the worst (aka unhappy) in their respective careers. It has to be one of the most paid attention to parts of typing that person. That information is much less of an assumption, but instead something that can be known.

      I think this is a very rigid way to look at things. By your logic every profession would have the exact same types within them, if more than one at all. In this instance what would make the difference between a good and bad analyst, or even just an okay one? IQ points and experience only? IQ is certainly an indication of success, but we know it not to be the case exclusively. Considering this fact, how would you explain the instance of a very promising but inexperienced analyst out performing an already highly experienced but perhaps not highly regarded one? It sounds to me that you are assigning brilliance or talent to a specific pool of types, rather than seeing the diversity of brilliance and individuality in people generally, part of which is their type. I would encourage you to consider how different types could bring a rare and special perspective or approach to any profession, regardless of their type. I do agree that certain types will gravitate towards certain professions but it is not as rigid as you are suggesting, any type can do any job due to their personal and circumstantial reasons. Thanks for taking the time to comment your views and I look forward to hearing more. -Chris

      @kimberlyhumphrey4408 2 місяці тому

      @typebook my comment as ISFJ being least likely, yes, I would consider ridged, but that single comment doesn't take away from my other points. We are talking about being Very successful in a certain career, not just being in a career field. Also, typing isn't an exact science, which leaves room for both your thoughts and mine. But we are essentially using an improved firm if educated guessing. Which is what data science is. We find the most likely answer and narrow it down by continuously adding new variables that we can connect to the data. That way we get to a guess which is 96-99% likely the correct answer. We don't stake our guesses on the outlier. No one can predict the correct answer. Data scientists fail when they feel so strongly about a guess or an answer and then bias their variable and the data towards that answer. People generally don't like being wrong so they hold true to their beliefs and tend to like feeling that they 'know' or are 'right' rather than accepting the most likely scenario. Typing from a distance is LITERALLY data science in a cruder form. A typist gathers a bunch of variables 'data points' on a person, then should predict the most likely, rather than relying on a few data points that lead a different direction. My whole point in my post was to add another, more heavily weighted, variable to this typing. Simply because most people are not aware of how well developed a person's intuition has to be , not simply to have this job, but to be a successful and respected pioneer, a teacher, or a researcher. We can all make the argument that anyone can be anything and leave it at that. But typing is LITERALLY nothing but narrowing down that scope. Otherwise, there would be no point in typing. In the world of data, which companies pay SO much money to utilize, simply because it is more accurate than an educated guess by a person, even having every single variable people can possibly think of, the answer is still considered only 99.9999999% accurate, never 100%. So ALL relevant information provided is considered useful, and we never stake the solution on human bias, idealism, societal expection, hopeful thinking, or what we believe. Me responding with the type I think he is, is not even something I would claim as valid or true. It was simply me engaging in discourse with other people, while adding my singular, but important, variable. If say, ~90% of data scientists utilize a certain, well-developed, cognitive style, then that point is VERY valid. You would need many more important variables on a person to prove he is an outlier, otherwise you stake your money on the most likely. Any expert, in any field, uses this same process mentally. Any gambler uses this process. The flaw and errors come with the human condition of 'believing they are right', 'gut feelings', and simply needing to know an answer without enough information to make a really good guess, let alone the best one.

    He certainly is not an INFP as far as I can tell. That's not to put down INFPs in anyway; lovely people INFPs. But the way he mirrors energy is so strongly Fe, seeking to make others feel at ease. Also he way he draws focus away from himself, rather than strongly projecting his own feelings out. His is an intuitive, that much is clear, but notice how he is on point, rather than branching out into tangents. He is coming to the point, albeit in a roundabout way. Ni, not Ne. To listen to Si-Ne talk is to hear a stream of memory details that never really get to the point. He doesn't do this, but instead, with his hands draws an image. The scene he has is already an internal image (Ni), which he draws into the physical space (Se). I saw one typing video pointing out he gets embarrassed - I don't personally think that is an indicator of Fi. I agree with your video about Ti though, how he returns to himself to decide. I think he may be ENFJ....

    Nah y'all are wrong. I'm Sure, that Tyler ist ENTP. I am ENTP myself and i watched many Interviews of Tyler and i Just find myself in His personality. Aside from that i dont think that Tyler is sensing (S) because he Always is thinking ,,what If..." And so on yk?. And i also dont think that He is Feeling (F) because He is Not giving of that Energy. He is saying stuff that could hurt other people without even caring. I dont think that a feeler would do this... And also im Sure, that He is Not a judger (J). As a judger He would be organized but He is Not really ,,i dont really know what i'm doing either" As a judger He would Not say and mean that...

    The video is entertaining & was such a surprise i would think that he might be an INTP if I'm watching randomly because of his body language & he gives me that kind of playful vibe that i get from many INTPs when they find joy in playing with ideas except INTPs also have that heavy logical way of speech . Also , i had a good laugh at the last clip 🤣

    I'm so glad I found this; thank you for your effort to dig in past stereotypes!! Sensors and Feelers end up dismissed all too often; it seems anything creative or intellectual seems to automatically be stamped with a "Intuitive" and/or "Thinker" label by default, using shallow post-hoc justifications. Though I have to admit, King's extraversion did throw me for a loop at first (I too succumb to the most-writers-are-introverts-bias, sigh), so it's helpful to have more evidence for how-to-identify-Fe-dom writers (I only had FeNi examples clocked before now). I've recently developed a formula for identifying MBTI type based on specific elements in writing style: determining Se/Ni or Si/Ne appear to be the pivotal -- and most easy to recognize -- dynamics, even in "Intuitive" authors. (Though it interestingly relies upon a subjective system of measurement with one's own function preferences as a baseline and examining the variations there from, so another person might find a different polarity more immediately obvious... which is why I am in the process of gathering examples/quotes in order to hopefully make the patterns I've identified easily/objectively accessible! This is the first place I've found taking this typing approach more seriously so I allowed myself to info-dump a bit here, lol. It's just exciting to find others on similar wavelengths!) While my reading habits thus far have delivered me a wealth of examples from ISFJs, INFPs, and INFJs, I am still refining my pattern-recognition regarding how FeSi would appear as compared to SiFe. It was simple to observe the abundance of Si detail in King's work, yet there were elements of his style that reminded me of ENFJ writers, so (long story short), I was gravitating towards a hypothesis this afternoon that he could perhaps be ESFJ > ISFJ, and so I am delighted to find your analysis here; it is quite satisfying to have acquired this additional data point to use in my calibrations, so thank you. :D There are so many types that end up overlooked due to bias, which only reinforces the likelihood of further mistypes, so it's wonderful to see some push in the other direction. Appreciate your work, and looking forward to checking out the rest of your collection!

      Satisfaction all around, I guess, as this comment was very satisfying to read! Thank you for the “info dump” - I always love to see someone else’s process. Yes, bias is extremely important in this business, as you’ve discovered. If you know things about yourself, it does provide a foundation to measure others against. But accumulating all these observations over time does reveal a set of patterns which eventually are hard to question. I’m just repeating what you’ve said but that’s because it’s exciting to see someone else do it as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. "The HILLS are aliiiive, with the sound of ..." SCREEEEECH ! Where's the "music" of Ni and Fe? Not even a whisper on the wind! But I definitely hear the staccato beat of Te and the timeless echo of Si traditionalism, both loud and clear. She doesn't seem to really be engaged with Larry at all, only with his questions and her recollections, which she seems to have ready access to in tabulated folders at her mental fingertips, and her language is SO precise - I actually admire that precision, precisely because as an INFJ I find it very elusive and have to work my Ti's ass off and risk blisters on my typing finger from editing to reach even a close approximation. You say she seems "warm", but I only see polite and proper - friendly, but not personal at all; as Rose observed, practiced, as if there's no other way it could possibly be done but the way it's ALWAYS been done. She does seem to show some feeling in a nostalgic way when she recalls her prior interactions, but it almost comes across more as respect for their status and success than genuine fondness for the people themselves. And I see ZERO use of intuition of either sort - no playfulness, no visualization or futurecasting, no intuitive associations...maybe it could be said that it shows up in her work through the characters she plays, but not here that I spotted. So I'm curious why you placed Te over Si and Ne over Fi - I would have called her an ISTJ because of the heavy use of Si and the nostalgic use of Fi and absence of Ne evidence, though I certainly don't claim typing expertise, but I really would like to know what weighted it to ESTJ for you instead of ISTJ (doesn't she seem more of a polite inney than a dynamic outey?)

    • @typebook
      @typebook 5 місяців тому

      If I were to keep it short and sweet I would say, will to power, the extroverted attitude in general is like this, consciously or not. The ISTJ attitude often manifests more aloof and independent of people, perhaps their particularness is more of things and inward. However, the ESTJ is often more so concerned with being proper that they are outwardly forcing things into their ideal of orderly fashion with their thinking function and this goes for people too, especially people. -Chris

      @don-eb3fj 5 місяців тому

      @@typebook thanks Chris, I'll have to ruminate on that for a few days - as INFJ with blind Te, the whole "will to power" motivation is a strange land to me (probably why the whole world is too), but conceptually it explains things quite well.

      “Maybe it could be said that it (intuition) shows up through the characters she plays" ... typing fictional characters can be dicey but I think Mary Poppins is an ESTJ. I read that Walt Disney wanted her for the role after seeing her in another performance. She refused because she was about to have a child but he told her they would wait for her. It seems like type casting to me - wonder if Disney saw it? To your point, although Mary Poppins was quite straitlaced and reserved, you could see a certain playfulness when Bert came around. As for “polite inney” and “dynamic outey” - HAHAHAHAHAHA! Well done! -Rose

I remember I sat for five mins, and thought if my clock broke, I could make time . And i had this awesome idea how to make my own time clock,, told my intp friend he said that is really inventive,similar to the invention and went deep into time.. told an INTJ he said if I broke my clock, I'd just buy a new one..
