    Schumahcer always liked to stay away from apexes and keep the steering lock minimal which means you can carry more speed. It's like the wet line, it's nothing to do with the asphalt grip on the outside line its simply to do with the smaller the lock applied the lesser the lateral forces in the car. Keep the lock to the minimal and you can carry more speed through any corner regardless of the conditions.

    Vettel's opinion was that Kimi was the best at quickly adapting to a new car or new conditions on pure instinct. I'm sure there are setups he works worse on though, but especially his driving in wet conditions shows how good his feel is for exactly where the limits of grip and the car are.

    8:52 what barnard fails to mention is that in 2013 the cars were much more aero evolved + downforce than in the schumacher era, so that diminished the amount they could turn the car on throttle mid corner

    • @LeTangKichiro
      @LeTangKichiro 8 місяців тому

      The main factor wasn't downforce at that time or how the cars were set up. It was the Pirelli tires being weak and brittle. Schumacher was blindingly quick, but he needed the equipment to do so. Bridgestone for example developed the exact tire Schumacher wanted. But you will never see a driver sliding around a track with a Pirelli tire because of how sensitive they are. Remember Alonso from the Michelin days? He was aggressive on corner entry, but had to totally change his driving style after Pirelli arrived. Even on a qualifying lap, drivers have to manage tire heat in order to avoid tire degredation during their fast lap which was never an issue in the days prior to Pirelli. If Schumacher had proper tires to work with, he would have had a platform on which he could have a set up the car more to his liking and be fast.

    7:00 - good thing Schumacher didn't listen to Barnard and his "drive off the back" nonsense back then. The way Michael wanted it, "off the front" and to place the car just with a strong front cm-exactly into the curve, the car then with the light rear rortieren and so faster straight stand and therefore sooner on the gas to be able to go - that is much faster. More difficult but much faster than Barnard's way. Barnard's way was driven by people like Watson, Berger, Prost - certainly not slow drivers, but "off the front" - Senna, Schumacher, Verstappen. And that says it all I think.

    • @LeTangKichiro
      @LeTangKichiro 8 місяців тому

      Exactly. Barnard forgot that you have to rotate the car as fast as possible in order to be on the throttle as early as possible. A planted back and good traction only helps if the corner is already behind you, not while cornering. All fast drivers focus on rotating the car quickly and having a straight car to accelerate as soon as possible. What good is a car with good traction if you waste time rotating the car? Schumacher wad right and Barnard totally wrong.

    Herbert word "nothing of extra special..", but he wrong completely the analisys. All the drivers in F1 working on the throttle, Senna included in to the corners true, but in a normal way. Michael telemetry can't lie, and say that he working on the throttle in a unique way, during the deceleration after the main breake without give up completely the foot by the throttle (infact when Herbert breake, give up completely his foot by the throttle with a major loosing of rpm). But what astonish me like as Clark say, is his capable to increase and work on the throttle SLOWLY and gentle with many micro foot work, 'till flat out again. Clark say also very clear, that with on F1 car, is impossible increase and working in that way, and the reason is simple ; the trottle excursion is too short !. But Michael succeeded. Phenomenal...

    If you have ever driven even say passenger cars, you'll understand why his preference is for strong front end. i.e. FWD vs RWD, fwd it's understeer and even accounting for the difference torque-steer makes if you break traction you go straight no exceptions. With a strong turn in on a rwd vehicle you can adjust to the surface and immediately accelerate, only cure for understeer even with RWD is to slow down. Ask any slightly skilled driver from an inclement weather area (snow, heavy rain, ice, sand, mud) and they'll likely agree with Kimi's style if understand

    Fascinating. The closest analogy I can come up with is that with that 2013 Red Bull Vettel was already set up for the next corner while exiting the previous one. A slalom skier while Webber was more of a downhiller. As good as Hamilton has been in the Merc in the years since, in the fifty years watching F1 I have never seen such dominance as Vettel in that particular car in 2013, and I'm not even counting his three championship years prior. Astounding.

    Ok before I made this comment I want to clear one thing, this is not a Hamilton hate comment but it's a far fetched to say Hamilton is adaptable because we never saw Hamilton have a car with bad characteristics because every lewis' teammates won at least one race in a same car he never ever had a bad car. And not to mention kimi won a championship with bridge stone, yes he struggled we also have to realise Michael schumacher accepted that he cocked up in 2008 while giving Ferrari feedback during the test and pleasing the development of the car

    • @dragmedia963
      @dragmedia963 3 роки тому

      And Ferrari sabotaged a lot of times with kmi giving him older suspension parts ot cocking up his strategy yes in 2014 to 2016 he did struggle a lot but in 17 and 18 he was on point and would've should've won a few more races if Ferrari didn't favoured vettel right fully so. And over the years kimi has driven 6 different cars 2 different Ferrari's and 2 different saubers from different eras mclaren and , lotus, but coming back to the point how can one say lewis is adaptable when we never saw him have a bad car or a car that didn't suit his driving style because mclaren was a well planted car with good rear grip and even Mercedes had a car similar to that set up good rear grip and a understeery car a bit weird to say lewis is adabtle for Pedro to say because we never saw him in a car that was bad because his teammate also won races in the same car

    • @helloitsme3940
      @helloitsme3940 2 роки тому

      @@puiahnamte4763 not sure abt lewis wants an oversteery car, becuase lewis brakes late and when u brake late u will also brake harder, and when u brake harder the load and weight of the car transfers to the front giving more grip at the front. So if lewis wants an oversteery car plus he brakes late the car would be very very oversteery and u might also spin. That is why checo is a lil bit uncomfortable with the redbull becuase he likes an understeery car and the rb is oversteery, I think one of the examples of this is when Checo spins out of his final flying lap in Monaco 2022
