After following both the Alumni Corps and the Sr Hawthorne Cabs for well over 40+ years your music still makes the hairs on my arms stand on edge. I am unable to attend competitions due to serious back and ankle issues making it impossible for me to walk more than 5 feet. My uncle who played soprano horn for the Connecticut Yankees. Keep up the EXCELLENT work❤❤❤❤

A fan since mid ‘60’s. Must admit I seldom went to competitions if the Cabs weren’t on the card. Late ‘90’s I basically stopped because I couldn’t get into all the flaming choreography of most corps.

I first saw the Cabs in 1964 at Mission Drums competition in Boston. They were the best of the best. I loved Flamingo Cha Cha, I was in the Toreadors and later the Don Juan’s, and we were taught by the same instructors who taught the Cambridge Caballeros. Great Times !!

Just to clarify that is the Hawthorne Caballeros alumni drum and bugle Corps, not the competing corpse

One of the true thrills of my young life was being at Soldier Field in 1957 and watching this amazing group step off with España Cañi at the American Legion finals competition. How did they do it? At that time the seniors were the big deal and they were way above the rest.The juniors competition was not the main event; just an after thought.What a sound! Great to hear the depth that can only come from seniors.Wonderful to see the tradition goes on.

The security office door was wide open how come you didn't try and zoom in to see what was in there?

Fond memories returned... 1972 graduate of HHS who lived across the street from the High School field where the Caballeros and Muchachos always practiced.

One of the greats that put Drum and Bugle Corps on the map , an ICON . They still have the excitement and spirit that made drum and bugle what it once was, exciting and Unique Love the real snare sound . Bravo !

I remember playing "Macarena" in 83 and"Aranjuez" in 84. I have to admit I had never even seen our 85 performance until a couple weeks ago, 33 years later. It has triggered many memories of what were some of the best times and people of my life. Can someone please tell me who the conductor is? Could it be the great Tyrone Laval?

The best drum cadence ever

I went to the show yesterday, the show was good. What really disappointed me was the scoring at the end. I don't know about you, but I don't think that reading deserved the score that they got last night. DCA is dying off more and more every year, they want it more like DCI, and eventually dca is no longer going to exist. Give it 4 to 5 years! Just watch, DCI is going to open up something like the all age division or whatever they're going to call it. The Caballeros got screwed, the Sunrisers got screwed, and every other Open Class corps in my opinion got screwed. Drum Corps nowadays looks like a freaking Broadway show, that's not what Drum Corps is about. All the stupid sound effects, props, and everything else that shouldn't be there. Not to mention the Miked trombones, that's another thing that pissed me off and that's another subject. In my opinion, what is bringing the scores down for the corps that actually put on a decent show, is the general effect category, and the visual. There's no such thing as DCA judges anymore, they all come from DCI! No wonder why they are so biased towards cores like reading and Cadets two! It's a shame, but I'm afraid this is what's going to happen. Every Corps in my opinion did a pretty decent job, with the exception of reading. Their show didn't have a lot of energy to it in my opinion, and it was a lot of sound effects, noise, and all sorts of other unnecessary things. Otherwise, the Drumline, pit, and one line did okay.

When I marched here with Garfield and Cabs, stands were three rows high and the GE box was whichever corps had the tallest equipment truck.

Thank you for posting this!!! I've been a fan of the Cabs since the 70s. It's so refreshing to see Mellophones as a featured soloist. I'm a mello player for the Florida Brass Drum and Bugle Corps on medical hiatus looking so forward to returning later this summer!!! Since the mid 70s I've been influenced by the Cabs, we played a lot of tunes from them in high school from the mid 70s to the early 80s!!! Even our uniforms were exactly the same except for the colors!!! Again Thank You for posting!! Brought back a lot of memories and has me chomping at the bit to get back playing!!!!!
