Your video is also insane. GOAT! Hahaha I used to be a big baseball fan about 10 years ago. Now Shohei Ohtani made me come back to watch baseball again.

Shohei is all time incredible but I think we're a bit in the moment. Barry Bonds 1996 season was better (this was well-before the 'alleged' roids seasons, in fact him not winning MVP this year and then the media attention of Sosa and McGuire 2 years later is what many suspected drove him to 'alleged' steroids use.) Yes Bonds only hit 42 home runs and snagged 40 bags that year, but remember that stealing bases is significantly easier now which is why totals are way, way up. The pick off rules and the larger bases give base runners a massive advantage. Its not a coincidence before these changes Ohtani's high was 26 and he was caught an abysmal 10 times to do it. I am not trying to discredit Ohtani, I am just saying "Ohtanti stike 59, Bonds stole 40, Ohtani was better" is not the full story. Now as for the home runs, sure Ohtani hit 12 more home runs, but he also was in a loaded line up, one that allowed him to rack up 731 PA to Bonds 675. Bonds was also intentionally walked 30 times to Ohtani's 10. Then we get to the biggest reason, Bonds was pitched around at a level Ohtani could not fathom. Ohtani was walked 81 times, Bonds was walked 151 times. He also only struck out 76 times to Ohtani's 162. I am not going to run through all the analytics but they all support Bonds' season as well. My final point will be defense, not only was Bonds better on offense that year, he was a gold glove defender and arguably the best outfielder in the league. Again, I can hear the angry typing this was PRE-STEROID Barry Bonds. Not even Bonds most ardent critics allege he was using in 1996. The consensus is the 1999 season when he was returning from injury and livid about Sosa-McGuire. Shohei is all time great, one of the best ever already and usually you have to factor in his pitching, but he did not pitch this year. So as far as "greatest season ever" that I keep seeing, I don't see any legitimate argument this season was better than 1996 Barry Bonds. Why did I pick 1996? A few reasons 1) It was pre-steroid. 2) 40-40 connection. 3) It was Bonds 4th best season of his career at that point...... which means Ohtani's season would have been pre-steroid Bonds 5th best season of his career. Let's not get carried away.

Is it just me or does it seem like he deservingly admires his home runs a bit longer, but nobody really says anything about it and he doesn’t get thrown at?

Compared to when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's the broadcasts are terrible. The annoucers aren't as good. The focus of the boradcast is the commercials while the game is something that seems to get in the way of these networks showing endless commercial breaks. These leagues have no problem pushing their unwanted liberal politics on people. Now to top off they are putting these streams on as many different streaming services as possible and then blacking games out. Pirate streams are really the only way to go. These leagues have created their own problems by biting the hand that feeds them.

As long as 50% of people watching through pirated sites aren't arrested, I'm taking my chances.

Joe Jackson and Pete Rose had record breaking careers and were both kept from the Hall of Fame for gambling concerns that pale in comparison to Ohtani's million dollar bets. Although I think Ohtani is a unicorn due to his skills, I'm concerned that if he continues to get LBron James style preferential treatment attendance will decline similar to the NBA's. If he was treated the way players historically get treated, he never would have stepped on tbe field to accomplish 50 50.

Stealing bases were made much easier starting in the 2023 season, both with the limit of 2 step-offs by the pitcher per plate appearance and more importantly the pitch clock, which helps the runner determine when the pitcher will start his pitching motion. So no, Ohtani did not "rewrite history" - his dual abilities of high end pitching and high end hitting are much closer to singular.

lol my first Dodger game was on Ohtani’s birthday 2024. I was in town due to AnimeExpo and if that’s not great timing idk what is. Never would have I come near a game if it weren’t for someone like him to bridge my interest to baseball.

I'm more of a dirt racing fan and Indycar fan but Bottas is so funny I started getting into F1 because we always in the US thought they were pompous rich dudes in F1 but watching the Netflix series people will realize they are wrong about that. I just got the F1 24 game and some F1 diecasts lol. Now I love F1 and I admit I was wrong. I already knew about Senna and Lauda. Really got hooked on F1 just this fall. The video game is very educational too.
