Modifying VMC GP12 for STD shift
Переглядів 1729 місяців тому
Quick video to help out anyone with a VMC looking to switch it over to STD shift. Notes: Purchased Ohvale GP2 knuckle, rod, shift lever and bearing sleeve. Mounting notes: The lever peg inner diameter where the peg slots through is bigger on the GP2 so I had to use a bearing sleeve to cover that gap (found on Amazon), the GP2 lever is also a tad bit wider at the peg insert / slot compared to th...

So, what do I think about the GP12 after riding it? I think the bike has a good motor, a good chassis and suspension, it is what I was hoping for, I was out riding with 65's, 85's and 150r's and the bike was able to hang and or catch them depending on the rider skill level, this bike is on par with those bikes. I beat on this bike and even shifted without the clutch (something many ZS owners sa...

      Hi this was very old, their first iteration which I was helping them test. They did not have stability back then, I've since returned them and felt they were too big and bulky back then. The new iterations are much better but unfortunately I don't have any experience with them.

      They actually make one on their new Motard bike that looks like it should fit but they are not selling it yet? I havent asked in a while though, some people made their own by mirroring a new bracket but seems like a ton of work. Id rather buy the motard bracket, I would ask Freya.

A spacer www.amazon.com/dp/B094FCC2GM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and since the shifter is too wide for stock rearset, had to machine down the pivot to match the stock spacer which cost me about $40.

      Thanks, that means alot. I keep hearing the motor just feels stronger but I dont have direct experience all I know the ZS190 is plenty fast and can do 65 without trying too hard so its enough to have fun on, on the kart track. There's also a Daytona 212 4v kit available that is a direct swap which ill be installing next year and that should be more power than the 190!

      @@Freddi922 no really, if it weren’t for people like you and Peter we wouldn’t have known what to expect and know about the bike. I was informed by Freya Lyu that the Zongshen engine is 17hp and the Daytona engine is 22hp. Hopefully I’ll be able to buy next summer but by experience the 2 valve engine has more torque than the 4 valve at low rpms but that’s on road bikes, don’t know how it will translate on track with this bike, I also asked if the rear brake caliper could be relocated to the top of the swing arm like the MT-01 (another model they sell) but unfortunately the answer was no. I guess that u said there’s a kit for that, anyways keep those videos coming :)

    • @Freddi922
      @Freddi922 10 місяців тому

      I'd say im about 180-185 lbs with gear and the bike handled great. It does have adjustable shocks and you can get it with adjustable forks upon request, that said. I think it may need higher spring rates for anything over 200ish but that can be solved aftermarket. I have a friend who is heavier than you who just bought one of these and were going to figure that all out by working with companies who have made kits for the Ohvale GP2 as the suspension is very similar. The adjustable fork is 38mm stanchion by 660mm overall - we will try Mupo suspension springs and the rear is a DNM Hornet shock and I believe they do make different spring rates so we can go direct with them.

    I just wanted to let you no don't use the kick start at all in less you have to and check or add the shift star mod. The reason I was able to buy the Dayton engine out of the gp ohvale is because the guy didn't have the shift star mod or electric start Wich are need if not it can cause the transmission to fail either the in put shaft or out put shaft will end up snapping on the engine just like the Dayton engine I bought off a UA-camr. I rebuilt the Dayton engine and used newer thicker shafts that there now selling and put the shift star mod. I only use the electric start Wich is also recommended to by ooracing. Just a fyi buddy 😉💯🛠️🏍️🍻✌️

      Thanks for this advice! Ive heard that too....im assuming that my newer motor should have the shift star mod but Id have to pull off the clutch to really know so thats on the to do list. I wonder if Ohvale ships the Daytona motors with all the fixes or do they have the same problems as everyone else?

    • @josephsaucedo8691

      @@Freddi922 they have the same problems because they just put the engine in the bike they only build the bike it self the engine factory would have to make the changes that kinda of part off the company problem. Ooracing sell the complete engine with all the upgrades there the only company that offer it that I know of and IV done quite a bit of research more than most people even on the forms that I'm on. They say the factory doing the upgrades to the engine on the new models the shafts and shift star mod but IV heard some people say that even some of the newest models aren't coming with the up grades kinda why I recommend checking for your self just in case never hert's 👍🏍️🍻💯✌️

    There also a small open spot on the caseing that should get jbweld to fill it in so the cover and gasket seal it off like it should do when toching keeps the water from getting to the ignition parts if you ride in the rain or puddle it would be a problem. And when you change the oil see if it has the shift star mod from the factory there supposedly doing it on new models now. Don't use synthetic oils on it will actually eat anything that not metal not good. Z's upgrade Order a Daytona clutch cover helps at the track can work on it with out oil drian out good 30$ upgrade 💯✌️👍🏍️🍻🛠️
