Well if it has bad rod knock. It’s probably going to need a rebuild soon. I’m not sure what could’ve caused that much oil consumption.

S and N model gas tanks are the same. You can find them on eBay used or Oneida Suzuki new.

@@PASSIONBUILT no it's totally ok. Yea I mean for instance a inspection of my vehicle and to top of fluids cost me 1400 and took over 4 days for them to service it. Made me pick up my truck at 10 pm at night when they tried to keep it overnight to accumulate lot fees. Would of cost me 400 dollars extra. Padilla auto in Monterey California if you're wondering. BBB certified criminals.

@@PASSIONBUILT oh you're telling me hahahaha. I didn't even get to the good part yet. I got my truck back with a slipping transmission and misfires in 3 cylinders and my coolant was bone dry. I didn't even check til the next day which was stupid on my part. I had to feed my truck Lucas oil transmission fluid. For me that stuff worked like a charm.

Did you happen to unbolt the clutch release / worm drive prior to pulling the lever?

Upper and lower triples, wheel, fender. Basically the complete front to do a straight swap.

Yes you can. Get some SVRACINGPARTS no cut frame sliders to mount them up and you’re golden. I have a set available that need minor repairs if you’re interested and happen to be local. Not looking to ship these.

Yes. This applies to both SV650 and SV1000. Check your airbox breather filter to see if it’s drenched in oil. It might be time to replace the sponge in there. I have a separate video about that.

@@PASSIONBUILT you should do a video on how to adjust the STPS on the sv1000s I can’t figure it out for the life of me.. is it the same as the TPS?

It could be a number of things causing the bike not to run. If you’re not up for the challenge of troubleshooting. I would avoid. Especially if it’s a carb model (Gen 1 1999-2002). Those tend to be temperamental especially if they’ve been sitting outside in the elements for long periods of time.

If you’re worried about that. Double check the compression numbers and ask them how good the bike wheelies. If they say the bike wheelies great and they wheelie it all the time. Walk away. And if compression numbers don’t look good. Walk away. Expect to do a valve adjustment soon if the bike has over 25k miles.

C42 usually anti theft. Possibly the ignition switch being faulty or you may have a case of the “green connector of death”. If you have an aftermarket ignition switch. That may be the cause. But I would check the connector from the wiring harness from the ignition switch. That connector tends to overheat and melt causing “the green connector of death” resulting in this issue. Let me know what you find.

@PASSIONBUILT Thanks for the quick reply! Ignition switch seems fine, green connector is good. The switch measures 100ohm resistance. And I've measured continuity to the ecu. Strange thing is that I cannot get the bike in dealer mode anymore.

Interesting. Check your clutch switch. Make sure it’s functioning. Check your fuses and relays. If all is good. I’d suggest checking wiring. Maybe something got in there and chewed up your wiring. Hopefully your ECU isn’t fried. It isn’t common but can happen.

@@PASSIONBUILT I've found the problem. In my case the problem was corrosion in the connector for the right clip on. This was on the pins for the killswitch. Cleaned it a little and the bike works again.

Hey there. You will need to buy replacement thermistors from Oneida Suzuki or used ones from a pump that’s being sold for parts purposes.

Plenty of people have swapped GSXR front ends on Gen 3 SV models. There are some good write ups on the SV Riders Forum. 🙂👍🏼

@@PASSIONBUILTso I just put the RC level kit in and noticed that when I go over bumps there is a rattle in the rear. I kept the original springs and just put the spacer in. I did put in new BDS NX2 2 inch lift shocks that come with their lift kit. I thought it could be that since the new shocks have more travel the spring could be to short and coming out of contact with the body. Did you notice anything like this with yours?

No. Just the camshafts. The side covers, clutch assembly and magneto will need to come off to access the lower sections of the chains and replace the guides.

Use the complete GSXR triple. You don’t need the aftermarket triple.

Zero miles bought in May, got Modena Nano-titanium paint protection on bike and wheels, magnetic tank pads on the way, ordering Corbin saddle this weekend, have M4 full exhaust in the garage for tune and flash, and looking at Renthal or Protaper handlebars for next months. She is an absolute keeper. LOVE the SV. 90 degree twins all day long. Just got back from a mountain run. A real peach of a bike

I’ve heard of people making a Frankenstein assembly out of 2 different units. But it may require modification. Do some research on the SVRiders forum before diving into that.

Make sure you use an OEM or quality aftermarket replacement. Cheap Chinese units from Amazon or eBay will fry your new CDI as quickly as you replaced it. Thanks for watching. Good luck with getting your bike back on the road!

Most SVs have the magnetic plug installed. I’ve seen some without. But the majority of them have it. Dual sports are great. I’ve been looking for a CRF300L but haven’t found one used in my budget. Thanks for watching.

@@PASSIONBUILT >> Yes, the Honda 300L comes in a couple of versions, I like the "Rally" which comes w/ a larger gas tank, the small wind screen, and different lights. But in my list the Rally is in the top right now but when I was looking at suspension upgrades I saw an upgrade using a Kawasaki bike part for the SV650. I saw how good this bike looked & I saw yours.... IF I change my mind for a street bike, I think the SV650 is a nice choice. peace

I mentioned in this video that some SVs have the rear cowl instead of a seat and that they’re still made to accommodate the helmet hook.
