Is Single Motherhood By Choice Selfish?
#singlemom #parenting #ebonikwilliams #smbc
Hi everyone. In a live earlier this year we discussed Eboni K Williams decision to be a single mother after struggling to find a suitable partner. Single moms have received alot of backlash in the media but some women are redefining what it means to be a single mother and choosing to be a single mother by choice (SMBC). There are alot of conflicting opinions about single women deciding to start families on their own. How you choose to raise your family is a personal decision but we cant ignore the growing trend of single mothers especially in the black community. In this clip we discuss this further.

So with the 401k etc my job will have me return the money/take it back if I don’t stay with them for I think 5 years and I want to try different jobs like you guys said . So do you know of any ways around this ?
Shes a single mom cause shes a stuck up self centered person..no man will put up with her attitude
70% of Black women In America are single yet, have the highest out of wedlock birth rate on planet Earth. At a rate of 78% and 60% have two or more children with multiple men, What man that have worked hard to make himself successful want to take on this kind of burden? Let's look at another stat 80% of American Black women are Overweight and 60% are OBESE Hmmm?
Everytime the thought hits my mind your videos pop up - yea I’m outta here I’ve grown attached to the city due to my work but I gotta go this ain’t it
_I don't date Older BM turned them down most of them have children already! BM are cheap they don't want to pay for dates and they want a wife who will pay the bills while they contribute Don't me a fool! * I had OLD BM who was 20 years older than me trying to date me I told them NO! Most had children by 2 women at that point, I wasn't taken care of no 70-year-old man those men died alone!_
_A lot of older BM are just as broke as younger BM; many are not established. Older BM dupp younger BW who have nothing and they find out have 1-2 babies and they leave older BM who have nothign to offer!
_In most Urban cities less 12% of BM when married are the breadwinners vs other races of men who are all at 50% including recent immigrants that can barely speak English! Most BM go into relationships with BW who are the providers while they're contributors. Most women want partners or men who are educated like themselves! _*_BM prefers to be marginal, not excel or feel they can't excel so they don't try, they want the women to do all the work!_*
Brooke shields is 9.9 rihanna is a 5-6 and you are prob a 4-5 from what I see.
🤣
Loved everything y’all discussed . Great food for thought . Thank you.
Thank you!
The one on the left looks like Fatima / Crystal from Sistas 🤍
My dad in the picture would hang himself if i procreated with a African American let alone marry one i rather die from HIV.
I think that Houston's growth is mostly from international countries as opposed to people from other parts of the US.
How did i get to this kinda convo. Only black people talk Nigerian this Nigerian that, kenyan this Kenyan that, African American this and African American that. Mcheeeewww. Pls we need advancement in our societies and not all these. Mcheeeeeeeww
Apparently you found the topic entertaining. Thanks for watching!
Nigeria men can allow alot from American women but we definitely don't do more for them, the real deal is still happening here in Nigeria some are getting houses here but it doesn't make headlines cause it's the norm, the america women just makes it louder.
Getting houses?
Married and single 😂
Smh
Don’t yall say Atlanta we full and you know the brothas don’t like the women lol
??
Been here for a few years. I agree with many of your points. I live a very low key life here
I love my low key life!
Houston is the first point of entry for distribution and trafficking of narcotics and human trafficking. Enjoy.
I moved to Houston in 2019. I loved it when I settled initially. I like the low cost of living, diversity and culture. With that being said, I feel like a lot of things have changed after the pandemic as more people were moving in droves. Besides that, the weather is brutal. We have extreme heat, natural disasters that will take the city out in minutes due to poor infrastructure, flooding, extreme cold that our grid up until recently could not withstand. The traffic is awful, especially in the evenings; turning a 15-20 min commute into an hour. Oh I forgot to mention, I have never come across such rude behavior in my life until I moved to Houston. I saw a young woman physically assault a frail elderly man who was in a wheel chair, and those are just some examples. I have had my car broken into three times in two years, and I live in a nice part of town. Oh and dont get me started on the mosquitos! They will eat you alive, and you’ll find massive roaches just crawling around in the city. I plan to move by next summer. Those are some things to consider if you plan on moving here. If I could rewind back time, I wouldnt move here.
Oh wow. Yeah it has changed alot during the last two years I been here and I heard it was so different before the pandemic. Do you mind sharing where you moved from and where you plan on moving?
Hey :) I moved from Orlando, Fl. I’m pretty set on Maryland, I’m still exploring some other options but that’ll most likely be it.
_BW can't find partners on their level; BM wants to _*_Marry up_*_ as most BM are marginal. Less than 12% of married BM in most Urban cities are breadwinners in 2022 stats vs 50% of other races including the immigrants! *Most BM drop out of society at 37 to 55 and they look for women to live off!_
*According to Pew Research Center, 24% of recently married Black men have a spouse of a different race or ethnicity, which is double the rate of Black women*
Interesting. What year is this stat from?
Give black guys hope
??
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi good guys treat with reference. goes both ways
Oh wow I moved to Charlotte too in June 2020, no job, no family, no friends- so I definitely understand and resonate with your experience. I now seesaw in contemplating moving from here for some of the reasons you mentioned... but had a blast when I first came. I also started a girls GroupMe for meetups, but so hard to get people to participate in anything! Was exhausting and some girls were catty acting so I haven't done anything with it lately
Oh wow! What was your meetup centered around?
I’ve been watching your videos because charlottes been heavy on my mind !
Yasss come!
Just move to Houston family matters it’s rare sisters are not beefing it’s big enough to not feel crowded or Atlanta if you wanna be rivals lol
Agreed! (Ngozi!
lol! I (Nnena) am not against moving to Texas but I’m not pressed to either if that makes sense. I would need a reason to relocate to Texas.
I would join the meet up if you do it

Nice video ,,, I always enjoy your videos .. I hope one day I’ll run into you 😊
Yes Nnena get that apartment video up soon I need to move by Oct … I’m already in charlotte ,,,thx
Will do!
If your roots are in America, meaning, you're an American Freedman (This sister is not), you should DEFINITELY move to Charlotte. The immigrants are taking over this city that we've inhabited in great numbers since the Reconstruction era. We me more of OUR PEOPLE from right here in America to get to Charlotte and all of the cities populated by our Freedmen family.
Interesting. I wouldn’t say the immigrants are taking over Charlotte but maybe I’m wrong 😃
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi they are. I travel there often and every single construction site is filled with Mexicans/Hispanics. Indians have most of the tech jobs and own almost every hotel and gas station. Many of the new "black owned" restaurants are Caribbean, or African, not the people who are actually American (we say "American Freedmen"). That's a takeover to me. Atlanta for instance, is no longer a majority "black" (I really don't like that term) city anymore. That's why my initial message is what it was; we need our people who are American Freedmen to get back to the Southern states and takeover the political apparatus there. Then we can PROPERLY allocate resources and create opportunities that reduces crime. Crime is a result of poverty and we've been locked out for generations in this country.
Cslling Houston segregated is a bit strong.Houston is the most diverse city in the country .There are people here from all over the world.I think a lot of people come here from cities with a long history of segregation. What that means are the black people are all going to stick to a side of the city.Community will be steong and prevalent but opportunities will be scarce. Houston historically has a history of being one of the few cities that did not have forced integration. The people and businesses owners integrated on their own. Yhe blaxk people here built strong communities. Places like 5th Ward, 3rd Ward, Sunnyside may not look like much but those communities are rock solid. That means some may move to other parts of Houston but they do not abandon those neighborhoods. If youre a transplant, its hard to break into those communities because everyone knows everyone. So people hete are not divided along racial lines necessarily, they are divided culturally. I don't understand what people mean by they cant find a decent oaying job in Houston. If you sont have a field of expertise and think youre going to find a job working in a warehouse, factory, etc; those jobs are largely given to people crossing the southern border. If youre in the medical field, technology, energy, you'll do well.If you are an unskilled worker the first thing you need to do is take any job to pay the bills, then enroll in Houston Community College. They have a ton of Continuing Education classes, that are very affordable and they offer online classes. Houston employers prefer experience over degrees so with a little grind, you can double your income in less than a year, taking classes online. I know seceral people that have done that successfully. Lone Star college is also good.Last thing on jobs but the most important thing, Hostin is too damn big for you to be going around using the "y'all hiring" technique. Get a resume and get online!! Best places online are Indeed and LinkedIn. Link. The others are ok but those two are the best. Indeed will let you search for jobs in your area and you can apply for 20 or more jobs all at once!! Do this everyday for two weeks or more and you will get calls and emails for interviews. I tell my kids, "when you dont have a job, looking for a job is your job" you should soend 8 hours a day doing that until you find something. If you see jobs that you can do but don't meet the qualifications APPLY ANYWAY, some jobs will hire you on experience and just pay you the minimum salary. That's why some jobs say {$20-$35/hr). Last thing, don't be afraid to take temp jobs, that is one of the easiest ways to find perm work.Houston is too big. Big companies use recruiters, contact temp agencies and the recruiters will tell you where the jobs are.
Great advice! Thanks for watching
Born and raised here .. and it's so terrible now ... Everything is expensive...its too hot .. too much traffic, to much crime , Everyone including crackheads have guns ... Your kids are targets ... Police target middle class ....not the ghettos .. Oh and if a natural disaster comes .. lol game over ... You won't find food , gas , assistance for months .
oh nooo. Yes it has changed alot even within the 2 years I have been here. Its been rough this year with the storms. Your a native so you have seen the changes/decline over the years. What are some solutions?
Atlanta (the city) is ghetto. The service is ghetto. The city is so rundown, abandoned houses and graffiti everywhere and I'm not talking about the nice street art and murals. They've built all these luxury apartments in the middle of the hood. I went to every so-called "nice" neighborhood and I'm sorry but in Chicago these neighborhoods would be considered the ghetto. I can't leave fast enough. The suburbs are nice but boring. I cannot recommend living in the actual city, which really defeats the purpose of living here if you ask me.
I(Ngozi) agree 100%! Nnena is anti Houston but I prefer it anyday over ATL. Atlanta is a nice place to visit and have fun but i have NEVER considered living there. I was in Gwinnett County for a few hours and was like I cant do this! Have you confirmed when your moving to Houston?
You tell no LIES!!!! I JUST LEFT.
@SanfordNson left to 👀👀
Omg I missed this live! Why am I not getting notifications, my bell is on!! Since I've lived in Charlotte and now Atlanta, and moving to Houston in 3 weeks I could have certainly added some input to the conversation lol.
Yes we were looking for you! Make sure your own tonight!
HTOWN No comparison. The people are realer more down to earth not Hollywood fake. The women are real thick not BBL drizzy fake lol. 🤘🏽
lol Houston has a lot of BBL’s!
@@EJIMANnenaNgoziyes but mostly implants tho!!!
Hmmm
Charlotte is for families not single women. No fashion, only American fried food or sushi, and no men. If you happen to find an eye candy, 98-100% of the time, he’s someone else’s man. Oh and the traffic and driving my goodness. 🤦🏾♀️
lol I agree about Charlotte catering to families! It’s also not a fashion forward city.
My light bill in a double wide trailer in the country is ant where from $400 to $600
Wow!
@@sheilareallovemchoney3889 is that the summer rate or year-round?
You said the keyword 2020 I was born and raised in Charlotte and after Covid hit here y’all came messed up the city. The people that have moved here. Charlotte didn’t used to be this way. Its you people that have moved here in a lot of you if you leave believe me, you will not be missed, Charlotte used to be a clean city and affordable place to living and now prices are so high you got trash everywhere. It didn’t used to be that way. Charlotte was a very clean city. I enjoyed coming home after flying out to other cities as flight attendant. This is my home I was born and raised here, but I have seen changes for the worst when Covid hit you scattered here and I wish you would scatter back where you came from for those of you that have been here for years. You understand where I’m coming from since then I’ve had my cars broken one stolen twice never in my 60 years have I experience anything like this. People are so disrespectful rude not respecting your neighbors loud partying late at night even though you know you’re not supposed to be around the pool area there you are hanging out 12 1 AM way after hours of the closing of the pool. So if you don’t like it leave And I wish a lot of you that have moved here that don’t like it. Bye see you later. Bye. But I promise whatever you go drama will be there to it’s all over the United States. You’re not gonna be able to get away from it unless you move to another planet, that is life as it is today it’s not like it was when I was coming along and it’s not gonna change so wherever you move, it’s gonna be there too.
Thanks for watching. I pray you find peace 🙏🏽
@jacquelinersprings9153 I've heard similar complaints from locals in other cities across the country. The pandemic caused a lot of people to move to different cities and towns. The demographics of places like Charlotte were drastically changed, for better or worse. I don’t think things will ever go back to how they were pre-pandemic, but I also don’t think all the changes that took place afterward were bad. Things will eventually balance out again.
Ive been here a few months im a homebody but i agree with alot of what you say plus its hard when your a remote worker, they dont seem to have a carribbean scene either! I dont hate it here but im trying to find my way i guess no state has it all... Also you have me thinking if im living in the hood lol, it seems nice but now im wondering..
lol yeah I haven’t been to a Caribbean place here.
It used to be fine in Texas, but it’s getting terrible. The cost-of-living the lack of police the crime is increasing. Don’t let the governor fool you he does not know what he’s doing. They make some of the most unintelligent decisions in Texas that you just stand there and look at it.
I hear about the crime alot. Hopefully it gets better!
I died when I saw the roach on the thumbnail 😂😂💀 what's understood don't have to be explained!!
I agree. I also moved here the same time you moved here. I moved from Houston to be close to family after 16 years. I totally get what you’re saying. I’m still here for now and trying to meet new ppl. I like nature so we do hike and looking for other outings. I wish you luck. Maybe we’ll run into each other one day and laugh about our commonalities . 😊

Refrain from conflating Black with African, although there is considerable overlap the two are not the same, especially culturally.
Yes for sure. We say often black people are not a monolith however let’s not focus so much on our differences 😀
@@EJIMANnenaNgozithank you because it’s 2024 and we are done with systemic racist and rooted xenophobia planted by colonialism. We are different but similar and genetically united. We need to stop competing to be the “better negro” and rise globally by being able to control/ govern our lands/ resources without the risk of black leaders being assassinated ( MLK, Malcom X, Jovenele Moise -Haiti, and over 9 African leaders killed via western ties. We have much bigger fish to fry literally!
Cool channel but please don’t confuse city population vs metros! Atlanta proper has about 500,000 people with metro being about 6 million. Charlotte has a population of about 900,000 and metro about 3 million. Folks in Atlanta and Charlotte live all over the metro. That’s like saying Manhattan 1.6 million is NYC . No there are 19 million people in NYC metro! I like Houston but come on Houston ain’t Atlanta! For Black folk!😎
Thanks for the clarification!
