You should move if you feel strongly about being around more Nigerians. I agree that the winter season has become colder. It appears that you need to meet a man/have a relationship so that you have someone to enjoy activities with.
@EJIMANnenaNgozi what brought you to Charlotte initially? Are those things enough to keep you there? Also, your sister seems to enjoy living in Houston because it has some of the things (larger Nigerian community, more things to see and do) that Charlotte lacks. You're still young so don't be afraid to make a move if your heart is not content where you are. Believe me, you don't want to be stuck in a place for so long that it hurts your soul.
This is helpful thank you. I’m in the same age group interested in the same type of social scene you described and I don’t think charlotte is right for me.
Charlotte allowed someone in California to buy the Excelsior Club a historic black social club. It was supposed to be a landmark.😢 oh well. It's located in Charlotte. I'm new to NC and i actually pay more here for basic needs than in THREE other states I lived in

@EJIMANnenaNgozi I am originally from Alabama. I left Alabama in 2018 and moved to Charlotte because I had visited the city with a friend and loved it as soon as I arrived to Charlotte. I left Charlotte and moved to Atlanta because I have a lot of family in Alabama and I was driving over seven hours every month to visit them. Unfortunately the small town I am from in Alabama, the nearest airport is two hours away. I moved to Atlanta because the drive time to my home town is only three hours.
if your 5ft11 or 6ft1 your height can be intimidating to both men and women. I typically attract taller women too me. Im only 5ft8. The tallest woman i ever been with intimately was 6ft5. Men fear now and days if she is really tall was she born a woman, there is a co-worker she dresses and looks like a female. Her voice is not really deep, but its unisex. I cant see adams apple or anything but i can tell she likes me, because every time she sees me in passing she speaks to me and sometimes i catch her watching me, i didnt want to asked her if she was born a woman because thats rude. But she just has a voice i cant make out. so i just keep it cordial with her. Alot of times being tall ie 6ft and up throws men off for other reasons. especially if they not as tall as you, most men just assume they will be rejected because of the height difference so they just avoid you, out of sight and out of mind. They may really like you or find you hot but the temptation of you is not stronger than fear of perceived rejection. Most men only approach women they think they can get. They dont go for girls they think its 1% chance she might reject me.

@jacquelinersprings9153 I've heard similar complaints from locals in other cities across the country. The pandemic caused a lot of people to move to different cities and towns. The demographics of places like Charlotte were drastically changed, for better or worse. I don’t think things will ever go back to how they were pre-pandemic, but I also don’t think all the changes that took place afterward were bad. Things will eventually balance out again.

@@EJIMANnenaNgozi they are. I travel there often and every single construction site is filled with Mexicans/Hispanics. Indians have most of the tech jobs and own almost every hotel and gas station. Many of the new "black owned" restaurants are Caribbean, or African, not the people who are actually American (we say "American Freedmen"). That's a takeover to me. Atlanta for instance, is no longer a majority "black" (I really don't like that term) city anymore. That's why my initial message is what it was; we need our people who are American Freedmen to get back to the Southern states and takeover the political apparatus there. Then we can PROPERLY allocate resources and create opportunities that reduces crime. Crime is a result of poverty and we've been locked out for generations in this country.

I’m moving there next year. I live uptown charlotte, but I’m over it
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi I was there for 2 years.
My husband and I are considering Raleigh we are older.
I live in Raleigh now. I have been here for 14 years and I am ready to move. I don't care for Raleigh to be honest. Hopefully, I can find that city that I can call home.
Your experience reminds me of the clip Charlotte is like an airbnb! Its not easy relocating at an older age. I think its a combo of people, personality, and the place. It also depends on what your looking for. I been to Charlotte several times and its def on the slower side.
Haven’t watched a vid in a min are you locking your hair??
Also same here I’ll end up in Virginia in the next 2-3 yrs to be around more Ghanaians lol
Ive been here a few months im a homebody but i agree with alot of what you say plus its hard when your a remote worker, they dont seem to have a carribbean scene either! I dont hate it here but im trying to find my way i guess no state has it all... Also you have me thinking if im living in the hood lol, it seems nice but now im wondering..
lol yeah I haven’t been to a Caribbean place here.
I've been here 3 years and I don't like Charlotte. It's also lacking the caribbean culture and I miss being around that. I'm definitely ready to move soon!
For sure! They use to have a Caribbean club called Crystals.
Funny, I came across your video bc I am looking to move to Charlotte. Most of what you are saying is the same experience I am going through in my current location. Is downtown a good place to stay or is it better to live on the outskirts and if so where would you recommend?
Hey! Where are you moving from? And are you living alone or with family. It really depends tbh.
@ from SC and it would be just me.
There’s not much going on downtown to be honest but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the outskirts. Do you wfh?
Sorry to hear that my husband and I are in are 50s and our children are adults we have been looking, to move to Raleigh NC or Charlotte NC. The opposite in MN Minneapolis, it is full of Nigerians young and old. Well, you wouldn't like our cold winters not bas as it used to be, spring / summers are beautiful.
Yeah I dont like the cold. Thanks for watching!
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi You welcome!
I'm heading to Houston or Washington DC when I graduate nursing school.
Nice. Goodluck!
Its ok at least your expressing yourself, and honest
Working remote is awful for a social life. As an adult it’s hard to make new friends unless it’s from work or social groups
I agree that remote work makes it harder. As a remote worker you have to be intentional about your social life
There is nothing here! Why do yall keep moving to Charlotte? Yall just keep moving here because somebody else said they are moving here and when you get here you realize that ain't shit here and be looking stupid... 😂😂😂Charlotte is and always has been a family oriented scene. People go to work and go home.
Yeah you’re right about it being family oriented!
You should move if you feel strongly about being around more Nigerians. I agree that the winter season has become colder. It appears that you need to meet a man/have a relationship so that you have someone to enjoy activities with.
Ughhh I’m just confused! Thanks for the advice 🙏🏽
My light bill in a double wide trailer in the country is ant where from $400 to $600
Wow!
@@sheilareallovemchoney3889 is that the summer rate or year-round?
This is helpful thank you. I’m in the same age group interested in the same type of social scene you described and I don’t think charlotte is right for me.
Your welcome! Where do you live?
Charlotte allowed someone in California to buy the Excelsior Club a historic black social club.
It was supposed to be a landmark.😢 oh well. It's located in Charlotte.
I'm new to NC and i actually pay more here for basic needs than in THREE other states I lived in
Oh wow.
Look up “cheapest cities & states for low incomes” by geography king and do a video loosely based on it very good !
🙏🏽
Have you thought about relocting internationally? Try Toronto, Canada. There are a lot of Nigerians here. The only negative thing for you would probably be the winter weather, similar to New Jersey! Since you work remote. 😊
No I haven’t. Canada is boring and cold. If I live outside of America I would want to live in a country in West Africa 😀
Houston offers all that diversity plus naija is plenty there. Houston will widen your horizon compared to Charlotte.
Interesting!
@@EJIMANnenaNgozitime to move 🙂↕️
@charlesoyibo9536 our oldest daughter moved to Houston and loved it, despite its flaws. We have friends who live there who also speak highly of it. Traffic, weather (especially flooding), and the state's politics, are a few detractors for me. I like Texas and think it has lots to offer, though. We briefly lived in Austin more than a decade ago.
I am a single Registered Nurse. I am tall, also. 5’10” to be exact. I loved living in Charlotte. I lived there from 2018 to 2020. I now live in Atlanta. I make more money here, but the rent prices are horrible. The housing cost sucks, also.
Nice. If you dont mind me asking why did you move to Atlanta? Are you originally from there?
@EJIMANnenaNgozi I am originally from Alabama. I left Alabama in 2018 and moved to Charlotte because I had visited the city with a friend and loved it as soon as I arrived to Charlotte. I left Charlotte and moved to Atlanta because I have a lot of family in Alabama and I was driving over seven hours every month to visit them. Unfortunately the small town I am from in Alabama, the nearest airport is two hours away. I moved to Atlanta because the drive time to my home town is only three hours.
Ok makes sense. How are you liking Atlanta?
I moved to south carolina and everything u said i feel the same
Oh wow what part?! I was just talking about South Carolina with a coworker earlier. Wayyy too slow for me!
if your 5ft11 or 6ft1 your height can be intimidating to both men and women.
Interesting!!
You said the keyword 2020 I was born and raised in Charlotte and after Covid hit here y’all came messed up the city. The people that have moved here. Charlotte didn’t used to be this way. Its you people that have moved here in a lot of you if you leave believe me, you will not be missed, Charlotte used to be a clean city and affordable place to living and now prices are so high you got trash everywhere. It didn’t used to be that way. Charlotte was a very clean city. I enjoyed coming home after flying out to other cities as flight attendant. This is my home I was born and raised here, but I have seen changes for the worst when Covid hit you scattered here and I wish you would scatter back where you came from for those of you that have been here for years. You understand where I’m coming from since then I’ve had my cars broken one stolen twice never in my 60 years have I experience anything like this. People are so disrespectful rude not respecting your neighbors loud partying late at night even though you know you’re not supposed to be around the pool area there you are hanging out 12 1 AM way after hours of the closing of the pool. So if you don’t like it leave And I wish a lot of you that have moved here that don’t like it. Bye see you later. Bye. But I promise whatever you go drama will be there to it’s all over the United States. You’re not gonna be able to get away from it unless you move to another planet, that is life as it is today it’s not like it was when I was coming along and it’s not gonna change so wherever you move, it’s gonna be there too.
Thanks for watching. I pray you find peace 🙏🏽
I know the feeling all too well. Like some have said maybe Texas will be the answer for you. Whatever you ultimately decide I wish you the best!
Thank you!
What part of New Jersey did you transplant from?
West Orange!
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi Shout out to Jersey. Cumberland County here! (Google it) lol
I can vouch for Nashville, TN. Come here. We can go out. Take care.
im in Saint Louis Missouri there are tons of nigerians. I sometimes meet them when i cold approach women during the day i can tell with the accent she is not american.
Only thing about STL is stay out the hood(the city). Because its ghetto there, an dangerous in certain parts. My Brother just moved back to hood and he is not happy. But he was in a situtation where he had to get off for his mental health.
I agree….But I can’t get my wife to move to Dallas 🤣
Lol why not? Where are you all now?
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi Originally from The DMV and now live in Mooresville
Nice! I was there a few weeks ago. A bit far but how do you like it?
@@EJIMANnenaNgozi I like Mooresville……But the genie 🧞♂️ is now out and it’s catching up with the other Lake Norman towns in Mecklenburg County. My property taxes have risen by astronomical levels.
@soulglow1969 if property taxes concern you then Texas may not be the place. They have some of the highest property taxes in the nation.
Charlotte just seems more of like a white city. You don't really meet blacks who are doing well in life and thats mainly because everything is so expensive. I moved back to SC and bought a nice house. I'm older and more settled so Charlotte wasn't for me. I think you will like Texas
Congratulations on buying a house! Numbers wise there are a lot of black people In Charlotte but like you mentioned idk if most are “doing well”.
Lol this false bra Charlotte blacks doing way better than most blacks in major US cities
I was raised here in Charlotte and I’m in my 40s. What black people are you interacting with because the majority I know including myself are very successful, educated and doing well economically. The ones you’re meeting have to be of a certain mindset, demographic, etc. Just my take.
@ce4139 Yeah I definitely didn't see many black people doing well there that actually still live in the city of Charlotte . If so what neighborhoods do they live in? I lived near Myers park and Barclay Downs and I saw 0 black families in those nice homes.
@@Lmiller83 I know plenty black people who grew up in those neighborhoods and who currently live there. Have you ventured out to all areas of Charlotte? Successful black people don’t just live in “one or two” neighborhoods here. 👀 Sounds like you need to truly explore the city beyond your neighborhood.
have you tried the black american scene or you just dont vibe with them
I have. I was at STATS on Wednesday night.
Pray on it and don’t follow what others want you to do. Maybe God has placed you In Charlotte to bring that change you want. Maybe your meant to start that young sophisticated professional scene or unite the young Nigerians! Who knows! Don’t do anything in a rush.
🙏🏽
If your roots are in America, meaning, you're an American Freedman (This sister is not), you should DEFINITELY move to Charlotte. The immigrants are taking over this city that we've inhabited in great numbers since the Reconstruction era. We me more of OUR PEOPLE from right here in America to get to Charlotte and all of the cities populated by our Freedmen family.
Interesting. I wouldn’t say the immigrants are taking over Charlotte but maybe I’m wrong 😃
Ahh, why are you looking for Nigerians in American cities? Am I missing something? Is being an American not enough?
🤣
No trust me being a Nigerian American is better. lol
@@queenadeniboye OK. I want argue with you.
Come on to Houston lmao! Ngozi wins lmao

Charlotte is for families not single women. No fashion, only American fried food or sushi, and no men. If you happen to find an eye candy, 98-100% of the time, he’s someone else’s man.
Oh and the traffic and driving my goodness. 🤦🏾♀️
lol I agree about Charlotte catering to families! It’s also not a fashion forward city.
Austin Texas plenty to do
no black folks
You probably need a good man
