Great video, really clear thanks. I think it would be cool to make FS1 an undo button. Add another 2 button switch and use that for going up and down snapshots. Is that possible? Bass sound, rhythm gtr, solo gtr, ambient gtr for instance.

Bearing in mind, these are not expensive, there are some fairly simple MODs that make a significant difference to this amp. There is a diode limiter* which when clipped out increases the power / volume. If you do this, you can then add a better speaker (it's a budget one for the price) to the existing box OR if you are really bold as I am just now (I bought the amp used / hardly out of the box for £40) you can cut the whole thing down to a head unit and cab it** with a 12" Celestion Greenback 25W / 8 Ohm. At this point all you need is a Sweet Cream dynamic OD pedal £40 (reacts to your playing, can OD from the guitar with hum-buckers) and a half decent reverb pedal - I am using a Shimverb £30 - and you are into Peter Green Blues power at realistically low volumes on the clean channel. Try this on an AC30 or the cheaper Laney clone LC30/12 and it is way too loud. FYI the built in gain channel is this amps weak spot. At this point you have a practice stack which could easily record or gig small venues for not a lot of cash, and it is a fun project not beyond most people with basic DIY / Craft / Soldering skills. * Google this bit. It's there if you look. ** I bought a broken Fender Champ 110 circa 1996 for £25 and took out the amp box, replaced the existing 12" speaker, re Tolexed and replaced with VOX cloth :) - perfect size to sit under the Pathfinder for a lovely mini stack that remains portable.

Actually I think a far better method outside of using the real thing is using a regular six string steel acoustic guitar. You can record the part normally and then use a octave FX VST in you DAW to lower the pitch 1 octave (or use an octave pedal etc.). This produces more of an acoustic sound to the lowered octave than an electric guitar. I have tried both and always go back to the acoustic guitar. In the mix it sounds closer to a real acoustic bass than doing the same thing with an elect gtr.

One important thing you left out is the speaker size. Is it a 6" or 8" ?

For me the best setup was to use only 2 stomp instead of 3 for the looper: - 1 Stomp for Play/Stop command - 1 Stomp for full looper use (like if you setup a bypass stomp to you looper) Using this method you can use the play/stop to manage stoping resuming on time your loop You can use the tradiionnal unique looper switch to trigger the record, overdub, undo/redo and delete the loop. Also having 1 Full Looper stomp allows you to visualize the color code for the looper (green for play, orange for overdub, red for rec, and also a different color when a loop is stopped and empty VS stopped with a record) The main pain point for using a single switch looper is for this double tap to stop the loop. Having the Start/Stop in addition really fixing the issue. No need for a dedicated REC/OD and additionnal Undo switch. And here you go you saved 1 Stomp :)

Can we do away with unboxing? I could not give a single f*ck what the cardboard I'm gonna throw away looks like. 50% of this Amp review doesn't feature the amp.

I'm following along but I can't get my footswitch 3 to stop being the tap/tuner function. Do I need to go into global settings to fix this?

Hey! How do you set up the input to be 1 on pro tools? I’ve been trying this with an Apollo twin but using output 3 and returning on output 1 seems impossible on hardware inserts 😱

the stomp has a tuner I dont see the need for the individual tuner pedal

was 1 stomp enough to stomp the loop? I dont fint my XL's buttons physically fine enough for looping.

You've just taught me a lesson about this amp, namely that it really has an 'overdrive' that reacts to the level of Gain. Now I suspect that most of the complaints about it are coming from people who are 'Diming' the Gain. The way they were talking, it sounded like a buzzsaw as soon as you pushed the button.

How do you clear a recording? Hahah you did not mention it

Great tutorial. I've always just used the looper the standard way but this looks much easier. With a more gainy amp like the jtm45 you could ride the volume knob and have clean and distorted tones as well as bass
