Coming across this video when I did was nothing short of divine intervention. Ive had this blend for a month and started thinking Id gone numb to the flavor or gone stale, when you made the comment about ODF being better in a briar I realized I'd rotated back to cobs mid month, difference is night and day!

Agree with you about Mac Barons Virginias #1. Yes as season change I also change my blends.

There's video here on YT of Mr. Manil in his shop, packaging his tobacco and giving an interview (all in French with no decent subtitles, I'm afraid). His machines are about 100 years old! It's an interesting process.

It's pretty good, has a unique flavor. I never really saw any 'birds eye' in it. Take a gander at Five Brothers if you want 'birds eye'...its loaded with it.

A good and necessary talk, thank you. Subscribed. I have a boxful of ancient used cobs that I've cleaned up, as well as several briars. I enjoy both and have noticed nothing about how a cob performs that comes in 2nd place to a briar. Nothing. My favorite cob is one that I found well smoked that may be from as far back as the 1930s (as near as I can tell) and it's great. But like you, I've seen cobs disregarded as almost a disposable pipe. Uh...no. With common sense care, they're as nigh-indestructible as any briar, as my vintage cobs prove. So imo, the real reason guys hate briars is a foolish sense of false elitism that says more about them than it does about cobs.

I have a few cobs: mark twain, country gentleman, dwarf, jess james, let freedom ring (i think thats the name). My fav so far is the last one. I enjoy the cob for i guess style...it so damn American and the look of acob is fown to earth. I am a southerner, so it brings to mind the South. They smoke just as good as briar. Dry and sweet. Briar just can last forever, has more shapes, and has thus more sophisticated look.

I feel like a lot of us would benefit from drying MOST of our tobaccos more than we do. Almost all the best smokes I’ve had have been either tobaccos that come dry (haunted bookshop, engine 99, etc.) or that I’ve let sit out way longer than I intended. They just behave better, no tongue bite, no gurgling, etc.

Without a doubt Rustica is the best blend ever. FVF is very good. Have you tried Dark Flake Unscented?

I just had my first bowl of Full Virginia last night and it was good I think I like hh pure Virginia better. 1792 is amazing. Thanks for another great video and I love your opening music.

Been waiting so long for this to come back in stock! Just ordered a 2 tin limit along with 2 tins of 1792. (Wish I could afford the bulk boxes.) I prefer these and G&H on the moist side.

I bought one this year, tried it, and bought four more during a sale. There were times that it tasted to me like a salted plum cream, and I like its velvety texture in my mouth. Thanks as always for the vid!

There are actually two very different cultures in Belgium! The Walloons and the Flemish. The Flemish are the Germanic half of Belgium, in the north. The Walloons are the french speaking half, the south. In this case, the french speaking Walloons would pronounce the tobacco “sem-wah” and the Ardennes “ar-den.”

If you smoke a lot, at work and on the go, theyre the best! I certainly do all these.

Not sorry that I agreed with your content 100%. I have 18 meershaums, pipe smoking for over 30 years. Have just started into briar. Everytime I help get someone into piping I give them a cob, tobacco and pipe cleaners. The very best pipe you can smoke is the one you enjoy!
