SMALL KITCHEN REMODEL: More unplanned projects, but at least we have a fully functioning kitchen
This week we continue our small kitchen remodel. We had to take a slight break because of leaking galvanized water pipes and galvanized drain pipes that were going to cause problems if they weren't changed soon. So might as well prevent a future looming plumbing disaster. Plus we realized we should have waited to shiplap the kitchen ceiling. WE persevered this week for sure. So glad to have a functioning kitchen again. Hope you enjoy the video this week!

SMALL KITCHEN REMODEL! Demolition Day! (That escalated quickly!)

After several months of no house projects, we are back! Starting with the kitchen, we went from planning on painting the old cabinets, to a complete gut of the kitchen down to the studs. This was not the original plan, but I think the right choice. In this episode, I walk through the thoughts and challenges we faced doing a kitchen demo for the first time. IMPROVING OUR CURB APPEAL by adding landscaping to our freshly painted home.
Переглядів 2 тис.Рік тому
Now that the house is painted, it is time to give it some pop with landscaping to improve the curb appeal. We thought about adding more emerald green arborvitaes, but were hesitant because of how tall they get and the front of our house does not get very much sun light. Also, we got to this project a little later than we wanted to and the plant selection was not what we were hoping for. So we s...

IT's FINISHED!!! You read that right. We are done painting our house with our Harbor Freight airless paint sprayer. We used a mineral based paint called Romabio. We aren't sponsored, but we absolutely love this paint. We would use it again without any hesitation or reservations. We got it done before the weather changed here in Kentucky. Ok. If you have followed us for any length of time, you have heard us talk about Romabio (not sponsored) and our intention to paint our house with it using our Harbor Freight airless paint sprayer. Well, that time has finally come! I know, I know...I can't believe it either. So far the majority of the changes we have made to our 1948 brick home have been on the inside. TUCK POINTING: brick and mortar repair. A Learning Experience
Переглядів 923Рік тому
This week we attempt to do something that we haven't ever tried before! Feels like we say this a lot lately, but it is true! On the agenda for this week: Tuck pointing the brick and mortar cracks of our 1948 house. Not going to lie, it was a little intimidating at first, but by the end, we felt like pro's (jk). But seriously, we learned a lot in the process and could definitely see how much bet...
Backyard DECK Removal: Can we SAVE ANY of this WOOD?
Переглядів 614Рік тому
Time to get back to the grind! In preparation of our next major project, painting the house, we have to remove our backyard deck! This has been neglected and has several areas of rot. We are hopeful to find some wood that is worth saving to use on other future projects (compost bin, chicken coop, replacement deck, etc.) We've enjoyed the break from working on the house, but winter is coming! Mill Creek Lake is a quiet and peaceful, 27 acres, lake in Natural Bridge State Park. The lake is perfect for paddling canoes and kayaks. There is a boat ramp for small fishing boats, but only electric trolling motors may be operated. This means the waters stay calm and you don't have to deal with the wake for boats flying by you like we experienced at Cave Run Lake. We are beginners when it co...

Great video! What is the best distance between thujas and other trees? I made a mistake of planting saskatoon trees along the fence first just to realize they will not be a good privacy fence. Im thinking of planting thujas (brandon cedars) 2 feet away from the fence. But it will make it very tight to the saskatoons. What to do? Pls help

First off great job. and Chris you're a lucky guy to have a woman want to tackle this project with you! you guys are great!. I'm about to do this same thing! I'm glad you had success with the Avanti painter. Is it still holding up? I'm on the fence on buying this one or the X7 which is a lot more at home depot because it's rebuildable. But on the house it looks great! I'm painting my house a similar color but doing all the trim and the gutters a dark grey to give it some contrast.

How are the trees making out now after a year? Did the nursery say it’s OK to bury with burlap? I have mine with burlap and not sure if landscaper knows what he’s doing or was just lazy, but he said It is biodegradable and the roots will be able to grow still. Have 17 of them so hopefully all is well 🙏🏻
