(LAST TEST EVER) Federal Signal EOWS 612 (1.5 min alert) tornado siren test ~ Barrington, IL 8/6/24
EDIT: Both Barrington 612s were removed unexpectedly 2 weeks after I recorded this on my Chicago vacation. This is not only the last recording, but also the last test ever for these units. I'm glad my gut told me to come here. Both 612s were replaced by T-128s.
This video should serve as a reminder to always ensure your microphone is completely plugged in...
Cuba TWP 4004s north of here were loud and so was this beast. It sounds better than it looks. Really directional and punchy.
The ladies inside of the village hall were watching me the entire time.

This was my first test of the day as well as being my first ever Modulator. I heard the "pop" and knew it was time for us to rock n roll. I found this nice hill on Streetview and knew I had to film this siren from the top. When I arrived I was greeted with the sweet smell of reclaimed water and a field full of chiggers. I ran over here and expected Rowlett to test late. They actually managed to test on time albeit for 45 seconds instead of 3 minutes like usual. I was sweating my butt off in someone's backyard. This siren is located at the intersection of Miller Rd and Dorchester Dr. PS: Never set up next to a busy road. It was NOT a good idea.

I pulled up to this relatively new 130 with a surprise. Someone else also just so happened to be setting up in the park... Even though the test was a failure, we got a great Deer Park/La Porte ambiance and being able to meet @andy_dc was a blast. I tried to convinxe the city to do a merged system rather than remove the T-128s. They dont want to spend the extra 50,000 on maintence.

Still not better than the MC. This controller is on an MCP, that's why the wind-up is so wacky.
@@v10-ACR-EThis is an UltraVoice, zoom in on the control cabinets. The MCP was discontinued almost 2 decades ago. An UltraVoice can be programmed to play any tone, single or dual.
@@oahualarms This UV has to be defective. The Wind-up has a nearly-noticeable freeze for a fraction of as second.
@@v10-ACR-E Those are the early production UVs with that glitch. These are newer ones.
@@CorollaChronicles Chicago has a 2002-2006 UV and it never did that. If you listen closely you can hear the wind-up freeze fir a split second
