    What a fantastic area you live in, what I wouldn't give to have the surf under feet on the daily and those views! I am guilty of owning multiple hoodies, probably need an intervention as I cannot seem to stop acquiring hoodies, but even as many as I have I still tend to stick to wearing two old hoodies over all the others, go figure. As far as walking, anywhere is great, but being on a beach is tops, second best? Walking the zoo!

    I'm no accountant, but I always wondered how Uber driving pencils out. Car ownership for most people is a big investment... the cost of fuel, insurance, maintenance, monthly payments, car care. A single repair bill can eat up the profits. Good luck with it all.

  • @jaismooth4756

    Exactly. Uber is super greedy. In convos with my riders, I'm told they are being charged more and paying drivers less. Rider: "Ride was 50." I get $19. Rider: "Ride cost me $35." I was paid $10. Because the rides are more, people don't tip as much as they used to either. I have a feeling that eventually Uber will be known as the 'shitty car" service. People barely making enough to justify driving at all, let alone enough to properly care for their car. And everyone on UA-cam talking about making so much driving is not taking any of these repair and maintenance issues into consideration. A couple of weeks ago, you were talking about making $200 in a day. And you drove 200 miles to do it. Now you have a busted Catalytic converter $3000 loss. Factor that in, and you may have been driving for nothing for the last 6 months. So you buy or lease a car and drive it to the ground and try to get rid of the car before you have to pay for repairs. Good luck with that strategy. If Uber doesn't improve--and they won't unless drivers unionize and demand better pay and car care, it's going to go to shit. The landscape is ripe for a decent Uber like car company or a driver owned company that treats drivers fairly and pays them well like Uber did at the beginning. People understand the concept now, so it shouldn't have the same start up as Uber.

    • @KeishaJoy_
      @KeishaJoy_ 8 днів тому

      I am in agreement with you. I do think that if you live in a big city near an airport, you probably will still be able to make money if you know how to strategize and accept your rides as they come in ( I never really got that down as a driver ) It's not the best fitting job for me as I live in a small city. The gas as repairs as you said are astronomical now. I just can't afford to have my car keep breaking down on me. I am still doing some food delivery jobs like instacart and a little bit of door dash. ( By the way, the pay is even worse on the food delivery ) I wonder what it would take to cut out the middle man "Uber" and do personal errands and passenger driving myself?

  • @JCBWheels

    I camped in a Honda Fit 2013 for four months in 2022. The best part about it are the front seats that can fold down almost flat backwards. Effectively, it makes the space as large as the back of SUVs like a CRV or RAV4. The worst part about it is to change vehicle and everything else consumes more fuel :P

    If you take out the passenger seat you'd have room for going to the bathroom in some type of receptacle. It doesn't have to be a bucket, there are all types of portable toilets available these days. One of the low profile models would work perfectly. One model seals up each time after using it so there's no odor, just like a cat litter receptacle.

    Up until recently I had nothing but terrible experiences with mechanics. A friend connected to me a mechanic that works out of his garage and charges very reasonable rates. Shops are the worst because there are sales reps, managers, overhead and corporate profits which makes it impossible get anything except a diagnosis, oil change or tires from them. Ask people you know, maybe you can find a mechanic that can do the work for a fraction of the price. Times have changed thats for sure.

    I would offer some suggestions for income producing options, but there are many unknown variables and I don't want to be presumptuous. Are you the kind of person that absolutely does not want to be tied to any 9-5 job where you are at the beck and call of a boss? If so, that rules out many options. Do you have at least a BA degree? If not more options ruled out. You live in a small town, something I have experienced. Small town living, while nice and particularly so along the central coast of CA (An area I am very familiar with), further limits your options. You may be trading opportunities for coastal living which is completely understandable because that area, in my experience is about one of the best places a person could live in CA. Just pulling up roots and moving is expensive which means many people can't do it. My only thought is you may want to consider getting your class A license. There are companies that will foot the bill for your educational training and license. You agree to to work for them for a period of time to pay off the debt, but at a certain point you are a free agent. There is a big demand. You should check out some UA-cam videos of people who did this. They say it's a lifestyle. It may be a solution and you will not be wearing out your personal vehicle. There is freedom in it. You would also qualify to drive class B airport or senior and misc. double axle transportation shuttles or busses. It would keep you closer to home and perhaps in the Santa Maria to SLO areas. If you are considering a commercial license to drive shuttles, its better in the long run to just get the class A.

    Buy a bottle of Cataclean at your local auto parts store. Follow the directions and hopefully that clears things up. But depending on the conditions of the Cat that is.

    Good that it's fixed. Now you can focus on a solution for the debt. There are online surveys you can do but the time vs. payout ratio is bad. However you can get gift cards to help with extra expenses such as trash bags, ink printer cartridges, etc.

      Thank you. Yes, I thought about doing surveys. Right now I am doing food deliveries and coaching/tarot sessions. Wouldn't hurt to add another way to to bring in money. These days we need all we can get ( 4 and 5 jobs )

    My medical transportation provider started using Uber and Lyft to get me to appointments. I don't know why because this is rural Maine and I wouldn't use either app to even go to the grocery store (lack of drivers). I was left stranded by the medical transportation provider 12 miles from town because they defiantly refused to listen to me. It was like talking to a brick wall.
