thats like what happened to me and my ex, we were having headaches and i smelled gas outside not inside his grandfather called a repair guy and they replaced our unit right then and there the guy asked if we had been feeling sick i told him my headaches were getting worse and the grandparents had a look of OMG. the repair guy said if we hadnt got it fixed today there was a high possibility we would have died in the night from the leak. new fear was unlocked that day

I had the same issue for years and eventually someone finally said yes there was a leak and fixed it! I had multiple people down and they all said their wasn’t a leak

My mom was getting headaches and was sick for months. Turned out the old gas lines in the ceiling to run the gaslamps that use to be in her apartment were leaking. They didn't pull them out when lighting went electric, they just capped them off. Low levels of gas exposure may not start a fire but they affect your health.

I've learned that if my wife smells something that I can't smell that doesn't mean that she's not smelling something. With enough investigation I always find what she's smelling.

I live in an apartment building. One day I kept smelling gas. So I called the gas company. They came out and said...yeah we have some joints that need fixing and I am turning you off until it is done (at the hot water heater). Fine. The maintenance team came and fixed it and left. I kept smelling gas so I called the company again. But before they came, my DOWNstairs neighbor asked if we were smelling gas too. So when the NEXT technician came he said...wow. This is a lot of gas build up. And went to check ALL 12 apartments in this building. The apartment behind ours left their gas on the STOVE on for 12 hours or so....building up gas in the whole building. They didn't even notice and would have probably blown up the building had I not pressured the gas company to come again.

Seems like its the property owners they wasted money. They should know if its sewer or septic. That's basic home ownership 101.

Is the labor cost to have a plumber come out and do this more expensive than replacing the hot water heater?
