The only thing I can say about a Goldwing after owning 4 of them, they are not made for tall guys.

Start low then go up, don't jump straight to the wing. You've got enough time, the gold Goldwing is a forever bike and it will wait for you:). Intermediate bikes like the Yamaha FJR, Honda ST and Kawasaki GTR will teach you a thing or two before going for the goldwing.

Just bought an '86 to fix up and have as my first bike. 500cc is more than enough for me, and it's such a sweet sounding thing

Good advice.... When riding any big bike including the Goldwing... you need to change your habits when stopping or low speed maneuvering. When riding with a passenger, I have dropped the bike when stopping. You need to tell them to lean in the opposite direction because it doesn't matter how strong you are... you are going to have to wrestle both the bike and passenger weight with the handlebars. Good luck with that.

I’m 5’6” and just bought a nice used Wing. At first I was worried about the size but once I rode it I fell in love. Plus my wife loves the comfy back seat.

Honda has a 1100 touring bike. But it’s not here in North America. Only in Europe.

This will be an interesting development to follow. How will it perform? What will it cost? How badly will it depreciate? Is this platform too large and heavy for a large part of the market? I will say that I like the look.

Hired one of these in Australia when they were brand new and there was virtually NONE on the road. It cost me 600 bucks for the whole weekend and I thrashed the SHIT out of it

I’m 45 and I’ve been riding since I was 14 years old and this is by far the best bike I’ve ever ride. For many years I would only ride the GS1200 BMW but the Goldwing is a superior rig. I’m 5’6” 150 lb and I’m extremely confortable with it but it’s definitely not for a beginner

Fantastically researched and well presented video. I had a ‘78 model with the 3 gauge dash and Comstars. Loved riding that bike, fast , smooth and minimal maintenance.

Hey man. Just wanted to say thank you for this video. Im 5'6", 160lbs and just bought a Honda GL1500 Valkyrie. Its a lot of bike but this gave me aome confidence. Hope to own a Goldwing someday.

Goldwings are the best motorcycles ever made. Hands down. But I wouldn't stick my tongue so far up Honda's ass. .. IDC how nice they want do you think they're bike is. It's still a full on grampa bike that weighs 900 lbs....suck it Honda. That's the truth. But I still won't own a hd ever again ...just like I wouldn't down grade my life in any way that I can help. Any year gold Wing is always better than any hd. Period.

Want to ask what is your height ? I am 6’ 2” with boots 🥾 on. Am considering having the lumber pushed back and reupholstered or find an alternative seat.

I just turned 80 (!) I was considering selling my low mileage ,(11K miles) because all my friends are dead or quit riding years ago. Then I took a nice long ride on the backroads on a beautiful day and decided, "hell no, I still enjoy my bike and I am going to keep riding it as long as I can.

Good perspective. I just got my first Wing this month, a GL1800. I have 30 years of riding with the largest motorcycle being an 1100 Shadow. It was an eye opening experience riding it for the first time specifically at low speeds. I have over 100 miles on it now and slowly getting more confident with it.

Great stuff. It made sense why Honda didn't notice the fatal camshaft flaw when their R and D time was cut in half. Those V4 recalls and class action lawsuits nearly bankrupted Honda motorcycles, thus staining V4 motorcycle engine and relegating them to a niche subset for bikes. It's really sad too, as V4's may be the best design for a streetbike - if done correctly.

LOVED my '94 and '97 VFR 750 F's! Both of 'em.

Had an 85 VF700F. I miss that V4 roar and that smooth Honda ride.

Went in to buy a 900 but got the V4 750. They were better handled better and the motors were good. They didn’t sound as good as an inline four.

Went all over Europe with GWCH and GWEF on my 1st bike at age 22, a GL1000 from 76, had it for 15 years them started a family and had no time to ride. Now 16yrs later I bought my 2nd bike a GL1200 Asp from 86 and am just doing trips like 2 to 4 hours on my own. Feeling ZEN when I return to the kids. Hope to have this one for at least 15 yrs. Maybe join GWCH/GWEF again. Drive safe.
