Hi everyone. I'm into tabletop wargaming and this is my new channel.
I'm into The Woods and all things Oldhammer. I'm also into Hail Caesar, Burrows and Badgers, Blood Bowl, Necromunda and Mordheim.
I'm currently getting a few videos done, filming some Wood Elves and will upload them soon. I'm also planning on a The Woods Solo Campaign.
Stay safe, stay groovy!

More on the Burgundians - part two
So, there have been some developments.I managed to get some stuff built recently.
I have these based up and some primed up, so its down to actually painting them up now.
Much like with many of the other showcase videos, I'll most likely do a showcase on each regiment/unit as they get completed. I'll also do videos on when I get more models to join the ranks.
I do still intend to double up this army's role by also being a Bretonnian army. I intend to get some specifically fantastical units for that - barons on griffons and pegasus knights and the like.

Yet another army project - part one - Burgundian Bretonnians
Переглядів 24614 днів тому
So, yes, yet another army project. on top of the several others I'm working through. I do intend to use this as an historical army, after looking into Burgundian history - darn those rabbit holes. I'd always like the Burgundians, after watching Passport to Pimlico, I blame that. All these, you can probably tell, all of them are Perry Miniatures. So now, with some knowledge on how a Burgundian L...
Dwarves - part two - well... they're constructed

Hello everyone! So, I thought I'd also do an update on my dwarves- well, they're gnomes really. I've essentially managed to assemble them. But to round off a few of the regiments, I think I need to invest in some more. So, soon, I think I will. I'm not exactly sure when, but it's good to see precisely what you have. Most of the models are old Mythic Cycles sculpts and can be gotten from Broadsw...
The Woods Dungeon Quest - Unboxing the advent calendar properly

So, what I thought I would do when I finished opening the advent calendar from Oakbound Studio was to do a proper unboxing style video where I take account of all the lovely models and gubbins that came in the calendar. So here it is. I'll paint the models up and probably do a showcase of the models once I've done that. Then once I make physical copies of the rules and things, the plan is to st...
Merry Christmas! And an update. Plans for 2025.

Hello everyone! So, it's the end of the year and snow has already been and gone for us. Perhaps there will be more in the new year. But one thing is for sure, you get a 'face reveal'. Its my first Christmas as the Dwarven Moustache here and I'm still to properly grow one - though Papa Dwarven Moustache was the main moustache about, the one that the channel is named after, So, here, I talk about...
Knights! HYW army and possible as Bretonnians - part two - an army project
Переглядів 83Місяць тому
I just thought I'd give a bit of an update on things with my knights. I thought it a good idea that I probably make this a sort of secondary project for a while. I've picked up quite a but over the years - thus the desire to start a Hundred Years War army - but I've only more recently taken an interest in the specifics. I say that, it would be rather nice to have a small Burgundian contingent, ...

Chonkbird Cavalry: part six in my Fimir Army Project
Can I ask where exactly did you get Charles metal miniature?
Hi, yes, Charles the Bold was the free miniature included in a Perry Miniatures deal. In their army deal section, you can buy 3 boxes of of the late 15th century/War of the Roses era cavalry and Charles the Bold comes with that. Just to note as well, Essex Miniatures sell some metal knights and steeds that are from the same era and have some fancy armour too, so they could possibly be alternatives. I think I also spotted a 3D print of Charles the bold while I was looking these up as well.
Really looking forward to seeing this project, I love the Burgundians, really interesting history, and a great scheme for painting
Oh yes very much. Its a very curious period and area. I do like the white and mid-blue of their uniforms.
@DwarvenMoustache-ek3ok yeah it's very eye catching, all the company and saint banners too, and all the different Burgundian heraldry for both the main house, with Charles and his half brother Antoine, and the lord's serving them. Just an extremely colourful army overall
@@spookari Some of the heraldry is something I need to research more on, but I'm sure I'll find a lot of stuff on it. The Swiss Burgundian Wars seem to be well documented. I know the Swiss had basically documented all the banners they'd taken off the Burgundians, basically keeping them all.
@@DwarvenMoustache-ek3ok if you can get a copy of it, the freezywater, The Burgundian Army of Charles The Bold, The Ordnance Companies And Their Captains, has all the heraldry and banners in it, as well as lists of who was commanding at each of the main battles in the Swiss Burgundian Wars
@@spookari Thank you very much. I'll keep an eye out for that. I think that could be very helpful indeed. Thank you.
Should you be unaware, there is also "Warhammer Armies Project" as another (free) rule set to look at.
Oh yes! I'd forgotten about them. Yes they are a great ruleset. Mustn't forget them again.
That is a lot of minis to paint up!
Oh yes, this is only about half of the models I've bought. as well. And I'd like to increase it all by another two thirds on top of that so I have a full Burundian Company. So this will increase to about 200 cavalry and about 600 infantry in total. Then Richard III might well ally with them with his War of the Roses force.
Hi everyone, so much is in the description. Just so everyone knows, a few videos might be filmed in a different location in the future, because, in short, life happened and things had to be moved about. I may talk more on that later. But, these guys are progressing. Hopefully in the near future, I won't get too distracted by Romano British. I shouldn't, but..
I’m thinking of using Perry and doing Hussite army.
I think there are many figures in the line that could fit very well. I think the Hundred Years War stuff is the right period, specifically. But also, 1st Corp Miniatures have a selection of specific Hussite metal models, including some of the characters and warwagons.
Got a few minis there to build and paint. Should be a fun project.
@@Giggan-h2r thanks. I reckon it should be too
Here's to 12000 points?
Oh yes, most certainly. I was just taking account of what's been ordered and all that, and in The Old World Bretonnian Exile's terms, it's about 5300 points already. What I intend to save up for over time would most likely double that, in The Old World terms.
You can play in 2026........or 2027 when you are done painting them!!!!! Have fun!!!
Oh yes, it most likely will take that long.
just a little project then....
Oh yes, just a little project. Just a modicum of Burgundians. Its a shame that I intend to try and fill this out further t be a full company's worth of stuff.
It's gonna be an epic project my friend, have fun
It does feel like an epic project. And thank you. I'm sure I will have a lot of fun building these up.
Hi, so, I got distracted by my Hundred Years War research. The Burgundians seems a more sort of 'straightforward' army to have collected. I could do unboxings of these kits, if folks are interested.
There we go. I got a spare copy as the old one ws getting a bit worse for wear.
Once one gets the rhythm of it Flintloque is a lot of fun with an emphasis on story driven play. Great game.
Thanks for the comment. It does look like a great game. I'm sorely tempted by the Catalucia pack next, just because. The whole thing looks like it hits the right spots for a game, with a good setting, nice models and a ruleset that's just complex enough without it getting too bogged down or like there is a lack of definition between things.
A lot of good looking minis there!
Thanks! They're nice sculpts.
Oh happy day! One of the greatest tomes of knowledge out there!
One of the holy books has been found! Rejoicing shall commence.
So, I don't have to rely on the PDF anymore. Yay!
So, it was another film at my painting table. I know it's disorganised. But I thought I'd share the progress of one of the several army projects I've been silly enough to start. Hopefully the coming year will see another army join my Fimir in the completed section.
Hi everyone. I really do love this game. There's some great stuff in there. I've meant to actually film some games previous of this. So, let's see what 2025 brings.
This is very cool! I only just discovered Oakbound's stuff, and have yet to make an order yet.
I hope you can. They have some lovely stuff and The Woods is great fun. I've started painting these and they really were fun to paint. I've almost finished painting them up now. Anyway, thanks very much for the comment.
Hi everyone. So this is a 'proper' unboxing, a more stereotypical unboxing of what came in Oakbound Studio's lovely advent calendar. I'd filmed each door being opened up throughout December and now, its time to start preparing them. So, this is all that came in the calendar. I intend to do a film once I've painted up the miniatures and soon after, once I've organised some crib/reference sheets and I'll start filming some games. I intend to start working through the scenarios that came under the QR codes in the calendar itself, then go from there.
Some good looking minis! Subbed
Many thanks!
Love all those old WHFR books ❤
I have a number of the core books from that period now, but it'd be brilliant if I could afford getting many of the WFRP 1st ed supplements.I do fancy Drakenfels the most, despite it having mixed reviews as a supplement.
I remember this with great fondness. Possibly the best series of modules ever written. I owned the old enemy within module and the shadows module that were sold separately, before the two were merged and popped in to the hard back. Death on the Reich was the perfect module and in my version of the world. Bogenhaffen was never successfully thwarted by the PC's 😂
I remember the cover art for the Shadows Over Bogenhafen when it was in its own volume. An excellent piece of art. I really am going to have to get 'the gang' together to try and work through the series of modules. Perhaps the 4th ed versions after Death on the Reik. I hear those are highly recommended. I'm missing the last two from the 4th ed version of the campaign though.
I have that book. And the 4th Edition version that just got released for Cubicle 7 master Edition with Companion books. Is fantastic, I have never seen an adventure module that was wrote with the premises players fail all missions in line with End Times lore... but Companion book is all about if you changed End Times.
It is a great adventure. I'm glad they did re-release them for 4th ed. I've the first three of the 4th ed books, with the companions - which are great in themselves. I'm still to get the books for the last two adventures.
I think I'm going to have to get the band back together to actually play this.
Hey Tom it’s Josh from the Crown of Command. This is my channel for all things Baron’s War and Test of Honor. Hope you had a good Christmas and that you got some hobby time in. Thanks for the videos and good to see you in front of the camera this time round. Looking forward to your battle reports and I like longer videos to listen to when painting. Cheers and and all the best for 2025! 🎉
Thanks very much. And you'll have a new sub on this historicals channel too. Yes, I do hope to do a variety of similar content, so some similar updates may be on their way alongside the batreps.
Good to see in front of the camera this time mate and merry Christmas to you to and all the best for 2025 ❤
Thank you very much. I will hopefully do more like this - most likely shorter. I hope you continue with the excellent videos too. I wish you a happy New Year as well.
Merry Xmas. I've seen your face in previous iterations of your vids. I have never shown my face in my UA-cam vids, but then again, the way I do them really doesn't give me the opportunity!!!
BTW, your experience of being 'taken down' has terrified me! If they did it to me a vast amount of work would be wasted!
@@bigsmallworlds Merry Christmas! Thanks very much for remembering when I used to have my face in my vids! I appreciate that. Yes, that really shook me at the time. One of the only main things I can think of that I'd done wrong - with hindsight - was that I'd not properly verified my channel, meaning that I hadn't shown any ID or the video of me for facial recognition. I had wondered if it was an ex-friend being petty, or that the original Egil had been for that sake of another friend's alter ego in Viking reenactment. I'd also wondered if it had been some detail on a model that had been mistaken for a real weapon or something; or that a link to a shop had been classified me as 'selling' something. I've tried since to be clear about me having actually bought the stuff I've bought - which is all my models. I'd wondered if it had thought about it being undisclosed sponsorship. I just try to be clear about that. I'd always thought that if it was a problem with a specific video, then that video specifically would be removed or challenged. Many of those seem to be easily appealed if I'd perhaps verified my channel. It's s]puzzled me since. It had been a bit heartbreaking at the time. I hope it doesn't happen again in a few months.
@@DwarvenMoustache-ek3ok I am entirely unaware of any 'verification' requirement for UA-cam. Maybe I did whatever was required and just cannot recall? Your story makes me think maybe I should just carry on with my format and never show my face!
@@bigsmallworlds What sounds like a plan, but yes, UA-cam had asked to either have some photo ID, a film of my face to mark against any future AI stuff, or had said about the channel growing naturally. With that last piece, I can only guess at it being a viewer numbers thing fir their own purposes.
Merry Christmas mate just subbed one away from 100 excellent update looking forward to 2025
Merry Christmas. Thanks for the sub. Yes, nearly at 100 now. I'll try and make some good content in the new year.
Good to put a face to the name. Merry Christmas buddy. Looking forward to plenty of chatter and hobbying in the MLG discord in the new year 😃
Thanks very much and Merry Christmas. I'm looking forward to chatting in the MLG Discord too. Everyone's been really friendly so far. Hopefully, at some point soon, I'll be able to get up to MLG and visit in person. I've some mates in the general area, so I'll have to poke them into actually coming along.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays. Happy New Year for the coming year as well. I hope everyone gets loads of presents and that you get some modelling stuff and things that fill that hobbying void. I thought it a good idea to do an update video. Though its long, longer than I expected, I thought I'd share a couple of things about why I started the channel, what I've done in the year so far and what I intend on doing in 2025. For me, much more modelling, and hopefully getting out to actually film some games. Some TTRPG stuff would be fun to do as well. Bit as I'm getting some armies together again, actually getting to film some games seems a great idea. All the best for the coming year, stay safe, stay groovy!
So, this is the last day of calendar openings. I'll be sure to film some games and explore what came in the box a bit more.
It's almost over. Tomorrow will be the last day. I'm fully intending on playing some filmed games of this in the weeks to come.
Im gonna be so sad when this ends but I've very excited of the outcome 🤭
@@eirikthemoderndayskald so am I, if I'm honest. I do have some planned content involving the game. And apparently, there could be some proper boxed game release in the first half of 2025, apparently. I shall be keeping an eye out for that as apparently orcs and modular floor tiles are involved.
@eirikthemoderndayskald I also fancy getting some gobbo reinforcements and some gnawlock ratmen to attempt to include into the game. Not sure how yet.
It's almost Christmas day! Yippee. I've really been loving this calendar.
It's nearing the end of December. Soon after Christmas, I'll get into filming a game or two, or three.
Nah😂😂😂 nice
@joshuaallcorn7930 thank you very much.
Yay, we are in the final run up to Christmas. I intend to try and film some games of this over the Christmas period.
I just thought I'd do a bit of an update on this lot. Those I do have an interest in the period, Starting this project up, I thought to myself that it'd be a great time to get a bit more expertise. Though I am starting with some of the Osprey books, I thought it good to try and consolidate my thoughts a bit before getting into some more specialised books.
Anyway to redo the audio? Very quiet for some reason :( . Is it just on my end?
Ah yes, it is a touch quiet. I can't redo the audio unfortunately without filming it over again unfortunately. If I do, I'll try and rectify that.
This little game is coming along very nicely. I still am probably going to get some more gobboes and also some ratmen gnawlochs. I already have a good selection of gnomes and dwarves.
I've really been enjoying opening each door every day. I really am delighted by this.
There have been some superb metal models in here. I appreciate that there is game paraphernalia in here , so it becomes a full box game starter set, organised as an advent calendar.
I'm really enjoying this calendar. So much effort has been put in. It's basically a boxed game set up as an advent calendar.
So, today has more gaming components. The box doors have some of the doors and lamps to use I'm game too. I'm delighted.
Hello everyone. So, I got my Oakbound Studio Patreon reward through recently. I think they could very well be changing around how they do things from now on, so instead of Patreon rewards, there'll be pre-releases and exclusive stuff being worked on through their UA-cam channel memberships, which is new to them. That is here:www.youtube.com/@oakboundstudio If you generally like what you see, their website has a lot of nice, shiny things on: www.oakbound.co.uk/
I've loads to start playing now. With parts of the box being used s dungeon furniture and the rules in the VR codes, it is a proper boxed game.
It's not the 14th day of Christmas it's the 14th day of December the 1st day of Christmas in that song refers to xmas day
@@matthewtalbot-paine7977 Thanks, you are right. I'm sure folks get the intention of the video's motif as the song also only mentions 12 day to Christmas as well.
Yay! These have been delightful to open.
Good start for a Kings of War conversion ;-)
Oh yes! I intend to use a couple of armies for a few different games - with suitably spaced movement trays. Hopefully I could use my Fimir as Demons or Orcs or something.
