My hot take? Starting with the premise that a 2011 is "perfection" and working backwards towards a striker fired polymer gun, this thing won't make alot of sense. However, if you instead start from a position of "Glock is best, except these shortcomings..." then this thing will crush all. Improvements appear to be: single action Trigger, front sight mounting solution, deleting grip safety SAFELY, 1911 grip angle, and functional slide release with dominant hand. Hmmm. I just started learning how to AIWB draw my new DS1911 and the first thing i notoced was how my normal "Glock grip" technique fails to actuate the grip safety reliably. Then my support hand flips the thumb safety up in recoil and locks the gun up that way. With about 30 min invested in learning a new interface, it's not going well so far. This new design might make up for many of the glock AND 1911/2011 shortcomings with most/all the upsides of both.

Not a wedge, Its a claw. The wedge sits on the back side of the holster, if you choose to use it.

They still are charging too much for that “polymer” grip frame. If they were really listening, they would offer aluminum and/or steel.

Consumers have gotten used to getting fed scraps so much that when someone finally makes a gun that we actually want we’re happily willing to pay absurd prices for it and I already know things going to be expensive and I already know I’m going to cry once & buy once because we rarely get what we want. We usually taken what we get buy this has everything I’ve been wanting in a pistol. And it’s not that everybody wants another Glock. We just want something that can use the mags because we have so many of them laying around.😂

I have a P and a 2024 C, and I love them. Just not feeling this new one, tbh. But maybe in person it will be different.

Meh, I have a new ‘24 C on order…should be delivered to my local FFL on Monday…and of course I then hear about a new model. I don’t really care for the aesthetics of it, if you don’t want to use an optic- the rear sight placement is pointless and hinders accuracy at distance, the mag-well looks odd, adding a firing pin block will affect the trigger feel to some degree. I mean, it’s cool in its own right, but I’m not at all upset about this being the new thing, seeing how I just purchased a C. Still happy with my decision.

The platypus has a 1911 grip angle. I love how all the reviewer/influencer people think that the platypus has a Glock grip angle just because of the mags. I have a staccato, my buddy had a platypus. We put them side by side; same 1911 grip angle.

I cannot wait to hear more about this. This is finally a 2011 that interests me more. However, the 2311 and the DWX which operate like 2011s are also interesting to me. However, this is more up my alley than those are.

I really like this. But I hope this is close to their P model in terms of price because in many ways this is simpler. It might even be simpler than we think. I am hoping that they might go with a linkless barrel as well like DWX or 2311 or most other pistols. The barrel link in a 1911/2011 isn't a weak point, However it does require proper fitment. If the barrel link is not perfect, then it can lead to timing issues as well as the barrel link getting broken. Generally this is a rare issue, but it wouldn't even be a problem if the guns had a linkless barrel.

Just personal opinion but I don’t prefer the Glock angle, I have glocks and I have my shadow systems and I shoot them fine alright but I prefer my 1911 angle or my s&w/every other grip angle lol. I wish they picked a different set of mags but totally get why they chose Glock. Excited about the firing pin block though for sure! I wish I could send my c in and have them rework to add one in there and not screw up the trigger

First, good luck on your exams. Second, I’m sure a lot of thought, research and development went into this firearm. I’m sure it shoots phenomenally. But it looks hideous.

They might produce them faster but they will be double the price of a platypus and no customization. Pass
