Tour De Shore - Cape May County NJ Bike tour plus Wildwoods beach
After months of planing for this bike tour including logistics, hotel booking and some family beach time I did a 97k /61 m ride in this beautiful part of New Jersey. Route included several scenic stops and very nice landscapes.
Route was mostly easy to ride but had several challenging sections that needed good road traffic sense.

New Saddle Day / SMP on Canyon Bike
Переглядів 6621 день тому
Bike saddle is one of the 3 contact points and can ruin your ride if not comfortable. Learn from my many years of riding road bike and how I discovered a great saddle and what makes this new saddle a great choice for any road cyclist. I recommend TRK version if your cycling bib has thin padding and SLR version for bibs with more padding. #roadcycling #canyonbikes #SMPSADDLE

    I run 53mm tires on my main bike, ha. I thought about getting these, but once in the big sizes, they're just so heavy. All for puncture resistance. I haven't had a puncture on any tire in like 15 years. I don't get the puncture resistance obsession everyone has. I want comfort, low rolling resistance, and mileage.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize 19 днів тому

      Clint you made a very good point, I wanted to mention this in the video not to go over 34mm. These would be okay only substitute for 28 to 34mm anything above that would be quiet heavy because of the compound used in them. Thanks for watching and your input.

    I’m 53 years old. Last year I started back road cycling after many years away. From February to October I lost 63 pounds. My cardio fitness was better than it had been in 20 years. However I was hit by a car on October 3rd and spent 5 days in the hospital, had to have knee surgery and lost any motivation to ride. In fact to this day road cycling scares me to death. My son saw that I was depressed and finally bought me a nice mountain bike so I have ridden some trails and I realize that I was already out of shape. I really miss road cycling but I can’t get past the fear of cars. I pray I can find a way to overcome that fear.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize Місяць тому

      Hi Patrick sorry to hear about your accident. Cycling is indeed best sport for not only loosing weight but also maintaining it. I sometimes ride my gravel bike as substitute to my road bike. Just ride at easy pace on trails or if you have gravel bike paths you can benefit from riding on them too. Hope you fell better and continue cycling on trails or gravel. Regardless stay safe on the road. Thanks for watching.

      @@Velorizethank you. I do intend on getting back to where I was before my accident. Today I talked to a local cycling group and I’m going to go on some group rides on the road. I don’t feel safe on the road by myself but maybe in a group I will be a bit better. I will also be riding local trails and gravel roads as you were talking about. Thank you for your advice and stay safe out there. ✌️

    Have you tried TPU inner tubes if yes, what are your thoughts on them?

  • @victorjiang1167
    @victorjiang1167 Місяць тому

    I get TPU tubes from Aliexpress for $1.79 each when they're on sale. They're like $5-6 when not on sale. I fit them into all my bikes (and I usually have ~10 bikes) so I've bought a ton of them. On average, I get 1 bad tube with a slow leak for every 10-15 tubes I buy. If I paid Tubalito money for them, I'd use the free patch kit given but at this price, I just swap out. I'm very pleased.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize Місяць тому

      Hi Victor that sound the smart thing to do in your case as you have numerous bikes, but the fact you switched to TPU and are happy, even there are some quality issues is okay. Kudos to you. As I mentioned in the video, Tubalito tubes helped me increase my average speed and that was important for me. Thanks for your input and watching the video. Cheers 😊

    • @victorjiang1167
      @victorjiang1167 Місяць тому

      @@Velorize I wouldn't even call it a quality issue. Tubalitos had so many quality issues when they were first available that people were saying you can get free tubes by saying yours failed and nobody would even check to see if you bought any because the issues were so common. I got about 1 defection butyl tube in about 30 so I'd call the current situation with my $1.79 TPU tubes as perfect as it gets in the real world.

  • @sbjf
    @sbjf Місяць тому

    if you have a pressure loss of 10psi/day on butyl tubes, your valve is broken. Butyl tubes will typically lose 5psi per WEEK.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize Місяць тому

      You are right but It depends, cause for a high performance road tires that take 110 to 120 psi air loss is about 8 to 10 psi (that's completely normal, I checked with Continental user Forums). I like to ride with maxed out air on my tires. I appreciate and value your input. Thanks for watching the video.

      Hi sorry to hear you are having delete issue, there are a lot of athletes with this app /unit experiencing the same issue. Easy fix is to just do " forget phone and add new device STEP (shown in the video) Rescan your WAHOO with phone and make sure to select the new wahoo from the list. I might do a quick video in this particular issue to help you out as few other people have also requested it also. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize 2 місяці тому

      Hi John, First make sure your Wahoo's WIFI is NOT ON, use only Bluetooth. Now that could be because you might have 2 devices number sitting in the phone app. So in other words when you re-scan the Wahoo head unit might be looking at older device even when new one is there...... you need to delete older one so app only sees new one. I know this is not covered i the video tutorial. Let me know if you still need help maybe i'll do quick tutorial. Hope that helps.

    My current ride is on it's 3rd set of tires. I own 2 road & a touring style bikes. All have or had Continental or Pirelli tires. You give good information, I'll agree with a couple of suggestions. 1- The idiot or inconsiderate behind the wheel of the car behind you, 2- How cheap you pay for what looks like a decent tire. I used to ride to work (rain or shine) 5 days a week, even in winter weather (not always snow). Premium tires rolled great (90 - 100 psi), I'm now retired so this time I went towards cheaper cost on my grocery getter, which always had 28mm tires. The bike feels like the brakes are stuck on (80 psi)! My belief is the quality of the rubber compound & tread design (& tube brand) effects rolling resistance also. This based on my experience.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize 2 місяці тому

      Hi you made very good points, quality rubber tires will ride better and will be more comfortable. I agree lower psi make ride sluggish. I always recommend to inflate the tires to the max psi value for optimum ride experience. Its good that you experience bike commuting, kudos to you 👍 Thanks for watching and suggestions. Cheers

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize 4 місяці тому

      Hi Adrian, as per your comment, it seems like speedbox might be setup in a way that its bypassing the bike data on the control one module. The app communicates only with the control one of these bikes. I have not used the speedbox, but that's the only logical explanation. If you really like the bike ride with it then just keep it, otherwise to access the app data you might have to remove it, that is if you can. Hope that helps.

    • @Velorize
      @Velorize 7 місяців тому

      I have used these tires on gravel and they perform good, but i think they really shine on road as they absorb imperfections of road very well. So far they have not shown any wear tear as my rides are some gravel but mostly roads. For using these tires mostly on gravel I would recommend slightly wider version, (36mm or 40mm) Narrow or thinner tires from any make or model will slip especially when turning. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

      @@Velorize Thank you for video... Thank you for getting back & responding so quickly... Thank you for concise & yet detailed information... I'm Using An Older Fully Carbon Bike With Rim brakes & widest is 28"; could possibly get 30" to work but most likely wouldn't be safe... I'm thinking of Upgrading to Specialized Paris Roubaix SL8 Expert or Pro, SRAM & for all it's other features, plus can use wider tires... But that's a bit expensive at the moment when my current bike meets 90% of all my needs... Thanks Again...

    I have Jones bars which are curved. Is there anyway to mount it in a handlebar and swivel it left or right to point forward?

      I would think that you want to mount it on the front curve of the Jones bar (not the back curve) so the light from this bike light can aim road in front. I don't think this company has swirling option for mount. You might wanna check after market secondary mounts that have swirling on maybe online bike shops. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you! Finally paired my forerunner 935 to wahoo elemnt v1. I’ve been riding for so long without knowing how to connect! This was very useful;)

    Hi,what do you think of the light after extended use and also can you turn it on and off with the remote or just cycle through the various modes? Thanks

      Hi Mike the light is still performing same, no reduction in the battery charging capacity. Yes you can turn the light on and off with the remote. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks, is this also possible with an older watch? e.g. forerunner 235? In the manual is only an example written for Garmin devices.

      Hi Peter, I believe 235 does has Heart rate sensor. So if you follow the steps it should connect to your wahoo or any other cycling head unit. Given the sensor is is working properly. Thanks for watching.
