    coming in late, beautiful portifolio btw, those paintings at the end were amazing, but I just didn't get one thing about the apprenticeship experience, as an apprentice at the place you talked about did you even learn about tattoing at all? I thought the name "apprenticeship" meant that you were going to learn the process, the techniques and all that, but it sounded like it is just a "secretary" position and thats it which really sucks.

    If you want the stencil to stay use speed stick instead of stencil stuff on fake skin. After the 24 you can clean it with Vaseline and you’ll have permanent lines to follow.

    I have been drawing and oil painting for my entire life and just recently got into tattoos, the thing that I would recommend to anyone who is starting out is to stay away from cheap fake skin from Amazon or eBay, once I went to reel skin my progress got so much better. It is a little bit more expensive but I can get an 11x17 sheet of it for $25 usd. As long as you aren't tattooing on people (yourself included) you can get away with cheaper ink's and cartridges. Your work looks good but if you tried the reel skin I think you will definitely see the difference between it and the cheaper ones. Id love to see where you're at in a year of practice. Always buy quality ink and needles whenever you do live skin and always, always wrap up your equipment and remember that what you do with your tattoo machine, unlike a pen or paint brush, will stay with someone to the grave, so never tattoo someone until you know that you are ready.

    I’m in the exact same boat, don’t blame yourself- remind yourself some men in the industry consider themselves ‘old school’ and they demand respect when it’s not earned so they get a kick out of being controlling. My mentor lost his shit at me after we’d been bantering for months, in the end I found out from the other artist he said he just doesn’t like me or my attitude. Once they decide they don’t like you, it stays and it’s mainly because you’re not grovelling.

      It sucks that happened to you! Yeah it seems to be an unfortunately common occurrence in the tattoo industry but I’m sure there are some non ego driven shops out there. Will you attempt to find another apprenticeship?

    as far as improving your lining is concerned. I know this sounds stupid, but there is no stroke adjustable machine that is good for lines. I've tried many, but a direct drive machine is always better (except WOS e60). Try the mast x5 or x8. that won't break the bank, but you'll be surprised how much better it works.😊

    • @RevaTheArtist
      @RevaTheArtist 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the tips! I did switch machines by the way as I found this one to not be very consistent. I am now using the made archer which is a direct drive. I’ll keep trying to improve ever day! Thanks for watching.

  • @olegbarth928
    @olegbarth928 2 місяці тому

    Hi😊 Put a second layer under the fake skin. That helps a lot. Start from right to left, to keep your stencil clean. And your lines are okay.👍 You just need to find your flow. After you have bought some quality ink and needles, pull some small lines, somewhere on your own skin and look hiw it heals. Thats how i learned to line on real skin.😅 Today 1/4 of my legg is black because of all those lines i made.😅😅😅😂

  • @olegbarth928
    @olegbarth928 2 місяці тому

    Finally😍😍😍 a beginner, wo didnt buy cheap crap on amazon, but invested some more for proper Equipment.😊 Nice collour work btw.👍 When it comes to linework, try holding the machine a little lower and positioning your grip closer to the tip. And when drawing lines with round shaders, try to tilt the machine as minimally as possible. The lines become perfectly saturated when all needles penetrate the same depth.😊❤❤ Ah... And its better to start tattoing from right to left, so you dont make such a mess with your stencil and the ink.☺️😉👍

    Can i use android tablet for making tattoo designs? What app i should use

    • @RevaTheArtist
      @RevaTheArtist 2 місяці тому

      Probably . I’m not familiar with android devices. I use procreate. But I think you could use the majority of drawing apps to create designs. You just have to find one that’s comfortable and meets your needs. Some other app alternatives would be SKETCHBOOK, PHOTOSHOP SKETCH, and CLIP STUDIO PAINT among others. You can also google procreate alternatives for android and do some experimenting :)

    I was in a toxic shop environment and honestly if they decide they dislike you, they really don’t change. It sounds like you dodged a bad situation and I hope this new apprenticeship goes better for you ❤️ that tattoo artist who said you couldn’t watch them tattoo was being a jerk for no reason. He could have given you a reason (this is an intimate tattoo, the client wants more space, etc). There are so many good shops out there that don’t suck and will treat you well. ❤

    • @RevaTheArtist
      @RevaTheArtist 2 місяці тому

      It sucks that so much of the industry can be toxic. I’m sure I did dodge a bad situation. Sorry I wasn’t clear but this was my second and last apprenticeship. This shop had two locations that I had to rotate between. One location was more toxic than the other. I do still look forward to finding a shop to work in that is a vibe! Until then I’m teaching myself. Thanks and love ❤️

    • @RevaTheArtist
      @RevaTheArtist 2 місяці тому

      I don’t think it’s impossible. You should definitely go for it. The problem in this industry is that there are a lot of toxic people in it. There are some good ones too of course. For me, the biggest issue was talking to people I really didn’t like. I’ve never had the capacity to fake an energy that wasn’t there. The people that I did get along with respected the fact that I was an introverted person. Accepting the bad with the good was much too draining for me. So I decided to teach myself. If you go the apprentice route, I urge you to find somewhere with people you like and maybe a smaller shop. Also you will have to make a very conscious effort to step outside your comfort zone. I often resorted to default to maintain my energy. Don’t be like me. 😁 best of luck on your journey!
