After the crash: XLPOWER 550 Maiden & Goosky RS5 Test - WOW
After weeks of work I finally fixed my heli from Charmouth and we got the chance to see if it had payed off. In addition, the arrival of the RS5 meant that I had the chance to try the heli out myself, thanks to Gary.

    Nice flights there girlfriend. I would get as much practise on a sim as you can . I used to use phoenix rc sim to get the hang of a set of manoeuvres and then tried these manoeuvres a few mistakes high until I was comfortable with what I was doing. I then would try it lower so I could show off to my flying field buddies.

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc 22 дні тому

      Yes, I currently spend around 10 hours on the sim each week, some days on Next and other days on HeliX, I'm definitely very cautious when it comes to new manoeuvres though.

    I just stumbled onto your page yesterday and I wanted to say great job on your videos and I am taking the hobby up now for two years and I am still nowhere near as good as you! Your flying is definitely smooth and has given me some ideas😢 to do when I do go out. I have the Blade 330’s and the Infusion 180. The Infusion has met the dirt twice now😂. I like the RS-5! Someday. Hello, interesting video. Can you tell me if there is a so important difference between new nimbus V2 and RS5 for a normal pilot, acrobatic flying and begening slow 3D... Goosky look good surely but nimbus not so far and there is a so huge price difference between the two... If someone can help me to choose.

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc Місяць тому

      Thank you! In my opinion, both models are excellent choices and you will very likely be happy, no matter which you choose. I personally haven't flown the V2 of the nimbus, however I really loved my flights with the V1 a few years back and really wanted one for myself. It's a smooth and capable model and looks really nice in the air. I have done a short flight with the RS5, as seen in the video and also loved it. It feels very smooth and nice to handle and is very robust. I did fly the two models on different systems so I cant compare them that way, but both have good model support. Overall, both models are great.

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc Місяць тому

      No worries, there are no bad questions around here, yes, the M4 does indeed have a one way bearing built in and probably should not spin in both ways. It may be a faulty one, but I'm not a hundred percent sure either. :)

    Talk about a smack down. Go big or go home, right? Hopefully some salvageable parts? Hell of a pilot though. I’m too chicken to leave scale smooth flight for this exact reason. I only get wild with my fpv set up. My lizard brain struggles with orientation loss. Which looks like the case here

    • @toncsirc

      Oh wow, thank you! There were some salvageable bits, but not many, although funnily enough the tail block itself survived without any problems despite it hitting the ground first. I personally always thought scale flying was awesome and I'll always admire scale pilots, same goes for FPV. I doubt I could ever fly FPV. As for the orientation loss, yeah, it happens, sometimes the mix of factors dont play out as you hope. :)

    Tic Toc "should always" be a rising maneuver. You need more angle at each end point. Think of about flipping pages on a book. Flightline should look like a "slight flex" at each end. Visually, it "looks like" a slap slap, but it really is a flip to pause and correct(...yes, it's always drifting even at that moment of pause). then flip back. Once it "becomes reflex" then you can attack it with a slap/slap...however, you will always have that "touch" and absolute control. Enjoy..

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc 2 місяці тому

      Yes, I've been working on this recently as it was pointed out to me by a couple of mates. I hadn't noticed until they said it. I've also slowed them down a bit and shortened the arc instead.

    • @trexinvert
      @trexinvert 2 місяці тому

      @@toncsirc Yes, very good. Also, "lean/tip" the heli just before you flip. You know how you can rock the heli in any direction for a split second. Then it slides/moves in that direction next. At that moment, is when you flip. It's almost like you dig the rotor edge, and next you flip on that edge. ~ enjoy

      @toncsirc 2 місяці тому

      Funnily enough, no. This was the last of 3 flights I did on the Saturday and much to my disappointment, this was the only one we have footage of. My first flight looked amazing and I was very happy with it so definitely a bummer.

      @@toncsirc Okay, so first flight jitters and cold fingers is not an excuse. Possibly, late in the day with bad visibility. Ideally, keep both wind and sun on your back. Anyways, I've been studying this video, and I'm ready to give you a critique. That is if you'd like to hear it from me. I've flown 6600 times with only 30 crashes(never made same mistake 2x) on my trex 500. My skill level until I stopped was everything but a "continuous non-drifting" piroflip. I could fly inverted(fwd, bkwd, traveling piros both CW and CCW). Didn't waste time with tick-tocs or loops. Also, 1000's of hrs on Realflight with accurate trex500 model at 150% physics.

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc 2 місяці тому

      The sun in our face definitely didnt help but there was only one flight line. Overall, I wouldn't say I've crashed too many times, on average, about once a year. And yes, I'll always accept critiques. :)

      @@toncsirc Crash frequency of 1/year, assuming over 100 flights a year is not bad, excellent actually. So watching this and your previous video "how...I fly inverted" you had a close call: 1. You should practice this to get out of trouble. Practice backwards flying, and also inverted backwards flying. 2. Avoid rainbow flips unless you mean to do so. Just rise up to altitude and do a "flat" tight flip. No losing or gaining altitude. 3. Add aileron to your half piros. On the cyclic stick it looks like a "half stir". Forward push > pull side > pull back. Coordinated with the rudder ofcourse. This should be practiced hundreds of times on the sim. Must be reflex. You cannot "think and figure out" during a maneuver, right? Keep on...

    • @toncsirc
      @toncsirc 2 місяці тому

      Thank you. I've got hundred of hours of practice on sim, many of which were spent flying piroflips and inverted flying to the point where I could probably do them in my sleep. My main issue is that I was doing them too fast initially. I have since worked on slowing them down to make sure both sides end where they are supposed to.

      I'm not too sure which one you mean, I personally don't know any forums in Europe, there are websites like RCHelicopterHub which are European and have official information posted somewhat often if that helps. I could also recommend joining any of the European RC helicopter facebook groups, I'm sure they would know.
