Best Rucks in the Draft! (Sam Draper Replacement?)
Need to accept that Peter Wright and Nik Cox are complete rubbish. Both softer than butter. They’d be intimidated on a netball field. Laverde is so far off the pace it’s actually embarrassing watching him out there. We’re absolutely stuffed if this bloke is a regular this season.
Still got hopes for Wright, he’s proven he is a capable forward just a couple of seasons ago
It's Manwithoutplans. I'm on an alt. I uploaded a compilation of the videos I was able to get at training when I was there on the 10th, to this account's channel. I'll probably go back at some point in january and try to get some longer videos, maybe on a friday just to see if they do a full match sim. I was trying to get the most out of my battery when I was taking the videos, so it stops and starts quite a lot but next time I'll take a battery pack. Happy new years!
Love your work mate, might chuck you a message soon for a future video
I'd prefer them have a massive SECOND HALF OF THE 2025 ACTUAL SEASON.
Impossible
Um...all of them.
The entire team
Imagine we pissed off parish before resigning him...
He’d be a beast
So basically Perkins,Reid and Cox are shit .Big thanks to Adrian ❤when will your stain leave this club ?
To be fair it was a horrible draft
I honestly believe that suspension to Wright destroyed him as a footballer, coming back round 8 and watching him was terrible, hopefully this season will be redemption!
I agree but hopefully he has gotten over it & moved on for the 2025 season.
@@kenoath7147 wright has had once decent season in his AFL career of about 10 years. Leopards and spots.
Had a lot of time to get past that moment, hopefully it’s well behind him
Add Jones, Gresham, Guelfi, Davey, Bryan, Menzie, Hobbs. All of them must be playing for their careers.
Quite a few need to get to work
Why Jones? he just had an excellent season IMO. The rest you named however are completely valid.
@@TomDunckley an excellent season? By his standards maybe but not at the level that will get him a new contract. He needs to offer a lot more.
I’d love Draper but if I’m Essendon and he was an insane about of money I’m letting him go match the bid and get max compensation for him
Max King?
@ no max compo
Junior should be on the list he’s out of contract and we cut his brother last year in way more harsh circumstances.
Yep, big season for him
More massive than every other player? 100% of all AFL players are having the usual massive pre-season unless injured
Some need a big one more than others
@@everythingessendon548 Some just need luck
Thanks for this Dylan Shiel needs a big preseason
None fitter at Essendon
Sets the standards well at training
Watched Nik cox 2021 highlights about 5 times during our late season slump, hope he can find form in the forward line
Needs to regain his confidence, composure & consistent form fast.
Sad to see the decrease in output
Menzie needs a massive off season so does gresham, davey, setterfield, hobbs and even hayes he can hope to build some more muscle and push for a debut game sometime this season
Very keen to see what Hayes can do
I think Draper here is a surprising call, but honestly a correct call. He needs to be in shape And playing 19+ games for us to be a contender (for finals) is a must. Also Parish i really worry about him. He didn't seem to do anything like go to Qatar or the likes for his soft tissue history. Obviously having a baby is a decent excuse, but he's a MASSIVE chance to re-injure another soft tissue. I just kinda hope Tsatas can take his role on form and it's not a case of 'Parish comes first'.
Need a full season, don’t want to see Goldy being forced to play more than he needs to
15th in 2025 would be a par result given the list.
10-15 methinks
So, what is it with Perkins? He can play, but it is mindset. Inconsistency! If he wants his spot he just has to step up. On Tsaris, he has it, but only if the coach plays him in the middle. Give the guy a break.
Lots of pressure on Perkins this year I feel
If Reid has another season long injury, we just got to let him go.
Spot on, he is fast becoming Gumby No. 2, on his last chance
Sad but true.
It’s getting to that stage
Haven't watched the vid yet. Players I think need a lift is easy, the 2020 deaft crop. Cox, Perkins and gumbleton. All below average career stats to date.
Gumbleton?
@ aka Reid the new Gumbleton. I thought that would've been obvious
Gumbleton back on the list :(
Happy new year
Happy new year mate!
If the big four did all play Finals in our lifetime ? The Fans of the Big Four Clubs need to do something big on UA-cam to celebrate 🥳 like everything Essendon , Blues Abroad , Big Footy Tigercast , swoop Luke - Collingwood. All theses are UA-cam channels. Getting all theses channels that probably don’t know each other doing a joint show going into a massive September 🏆would be great 👍 😁🥳🏆 in the end we all just love Footy 🏉
Melbourne would be absolutely pumping
2:35 Sam Draper is more than just a ruckman he is the motivator enjoys his footy and spreads confidence
Definitely improves the vibes
Its always interesting well we are all on holidays checking in on all the footy videos and some of the old videos of all Clubs Channels to fill the Footy Fix 🤣😂😁👍 a big season coming up for Essendon it has to be Finals this year coming 2025 ? I don’t think missing Finals again is excitable? You lose your moment and others will pass you ? If you don’t take it ? I really want a year when the big four Clubs of Melbourne all play Finals in Essendon , Richmond , Carlton & Collingwood this would be the biggest finals ever if it happened? We have seen 3 but never the 4 in recent times there has always been one team down the ladder. If this takes place in our lifetime we need to celebrate that Finals as it would be the most exciting Finals one can remember with the Big 4 going into that September! The City of Melbourne and Victoria would be Rocking!🏆🏆🏆
It's okay if we miss finals as long as the effort is there week in week out and it is clear where the improvement is
Imagine all four in a prelim final weekend
All players need to pull their finger out. Lazy, arrogant but still put their hands out for payment.
Money money money
Fairly accurate with your assessments If I was brad scott I would just play nick Bryan ruck and draper forward pinch hitting as I would prefer if draper leaves if we got a good pick for him Not play Shiel, wright, settlefield or larverde unless every other midfielder/defender/forward is injured Play tsitas and Hobbs full time midfield every game regardless of form. Play parish similar to how de goey is played burst midfielder then rest forward. And swap with Perkins the entire game Because we are likely to not make finals this year again so it needs to be a development year from all young players of course this might change throughout the season with injuries etc... but again they need to think long term like 5 years time.
playing hobbs and tsatas regardless of form will not lead to improvement or consistency. You want consistency from reward and consequence. If Tsatas is playing every game in the vfl well and doing what is asked by the coaches, whether that be hitting the passes or something else, he must do it. At that point you give the reward and you bring them up to the firsts.
@Manwithoutplans it's more to give them AFL experience tsitas as only played under 20 games and Hobbs needs to stick to a role and build from their maybe he might just play half forward or wing or something but he needs to stick to a position as he is still young and usually AFL players after 50 games they hit their straps so that's why I thought that but again if there both playing piss poor then back to the drawing board
@ Yes. The general rule that afl players hit their stride around game 50 isn’t wrong, but just sticking them in there won’t help unless they can compete. You are right that Hobbs should be aiming to master a single position on the field though. He gets swapped around too much.
I’d rather see young players earn their spot rather than given it, happy to see older blokes start the season and prove themselves
Brad Scott needs to perform just as hard as any of the players.
I think he can do it
I think he's under "medium" level pressure. High-extreme pressure is someone like Hinkley (eg if Port have a bad 1st half of the season, there is no way he can survive). Brad Scott is a little different, if we stay around the same level on the ladder, but some of the youngsters like Tsatas, Cox, Jones & Hobbs show real improvement, won't be sacked), but if we have a big drop, pressure level will go to high.
Facts, huge year for him
Isn’t Cox already injured? Also Guelfi? Reid, Tsatis, Wright, Perkins, Menzie, Baldwin all need to impress. ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
Reid doesn't need to impress per say. More just stay fit.
Cox will be fine to train early this year I believe
I wonder how some of these guys will perform without Stringer in the mix?
Our forward line will probably be better for it. Peter Wright, Langford and Stringer would always play on each other's toes and did not work together that well. Having a small forward (Kako) in the mix will mean that we have someone to navigate tight spaces and get the ground balls through the big sticks.
Better !
More freedom for some forwards potentially
Tsatas is a bit rough, not his fault he hasn’t broken into our midfield. He’s been putting up big numbers in the 2’s but just hasn’t been put in the 1’s. Scott needs to give him a chance.
Having watched almost all of the 2nd's games the last 2 years, he needs to get quality possessions. He doesn't hit targets or put the ball to team mate's advantage. Having 35+ possessions where only 10 are worthwhile is not good enough. Those other 25 possessions end up giving the opposition attacking opportunities. That's the main reason he didn't get games.
“Not his fault he hasn’t broken into our midfield” well I mean at least some of it is his own fault? There’s obviously something missing that he hasn’t improved on enough.
Can’t kick. His disposal is beyond a joke.
@@BuzzOff.yep. Won’t be able to shake it his entire career. Was the wrong pick from the get go. Kicking can be marginally improved only. Their skills are their skills on draft night.
Before we start bagging Tsatas, we first need to see him play some consistent games in the seniors. Not coming on as a sub.
Alwyn davey needs a big preseason. Needs to really improve his strength and craft. Bryan needs to improve his endurance if he is going to be our primary ruck. Duursma and guelfi are both others that need to work on getting their bodies right. Saad needs to continue to impress to cement a spot in the team. Lual and Hayes should be looking to break into the side. Menzies should show some worth if he wants to stay at the club. Roberts needs to put on more size to compete with the afl bodies. Baldwin needs to remain unharmed for the entire preseason. I am not averse to giving him a list spot for the year if he does. I think he is much better than hoare as a player. He is a hard worker and really well liked around the club. Caldwell and Durham need to take that next big step and become players on par with the best in the comp. Caddy and Jones both need to improve if they are gonna look to make-up for the loss of stringer + peter wrights unreliable form From everything I saw plus what everyone is saying. Tsatas is ready. He has become a huge body around the contest. 187cm at draft he was a twig. Well twig no longer he is jacked. All our draftees should just be looking to make an impression and improve Laverde is done at Essendon, but I think he does get picked up by another club. He is a hard worker on the field, but he doesn’t have the defensive skill and he is outmatched by the others on the list in every other position. He’s not going to improve and we need to open up list spots at the end of 2025 if we do end up using these 2 first rounders + 2 second rounders + whatever we might get by trade.
Wow, very insightful. You should become a coach.
Tsatsas huge! 😂 Doesn’t matter how huge he is, if he can’t kick accurately more than 40 metres he’s a liability, an accumulator not a game breaker.
@@GraemeBlore Jobe Watson was a very poor kick early in his career. He worked on it and became a good kick.
@@GraemeBlore He is huge. He is put on a huge amount of muscle and is around that 190cm mark. We play Parish and Mcgrath week in week out. Neither of them can kick and they are most certainly not big. From what I saw at the training I went to, Tsatas kicking had improved. Whether that is definitely the case or if he just had a few good ones I don't know for sure.
Any plans for 2025 ? How about a job down at Bomberland. Absolutely Spot On 👍
Hobbs needs to be a consistent 1st team player too
Needs to be a consistent player first
Yep, 4 seasons in now
Love this content was thinking about it today actually!
Great minds think alike :P
With Tall Forwards you get them early if good ? Both Richmond and the Bulldogs got done by Hawthorn in them getting Franklin and Roughead in 2004 draft the Hawks knew Both Bulldogs and Richmond would not select Franklin in the Top 5 due to some bad kicking at that stage which seems silly now but was a concern back then. so then looked at getting Roughead who Richmond had planned for with Deledio the Hawks knew this and also knew Bulldogs would go Griffin so then went to work of building the spine with Roughead at 2 and Franklin at 5. Pissing off a lot of us Richmond Surpporters who were very keen as well as the club on Roughead ? Even Roughead is on record believing he was going to Richmond with Deledio! But it all worked out well Hawthorn won that battle and got its flags 🏆🏆🏆 but we also got ours in Martin at pick 3 in years to come! Melbourne had pick 1 & 2 that year but passed on Martin who went pick 3 to Richmond and Fyfe who went to Fremantle pick 20. Bloody hell image 🤯😱🍿🏆💪🪜🎁😁 if Melbourne got it right and got both Martin and Fyfe ? 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 🤔 ? Richmond got there other Draft’s right after the Roughead miss up and got Cotchin , Rance , Grimes , Riewoldt , Edwards and Martin and others that lead to 3 Flags 🏆🏆🏆. If you get it right ? just what the draft can do for a Club! 🏆17 🏆19 🏆20🐅🐅🐅
Yep, that’s what makes the draft so exciting!
Your Top 3 on this list I really agree with. My team Richmond got 2 of those’s in Faull and Armstrong. Both Sydney Teams were after the Players the Tigers wanted ? Faull and Trainor would not have got past Sydney if one of them were available? And Sydney are good recruiters . It was good work by the Tigers to find out they could get Armstrong later I was really worried Melbourne were going to select him at one of there picks ? Instead they got another player I wanted in Lindsey. GWS and West Coast were eyeing off Hotton so he also had to be got early. West Coast were happy with either Allan or Hotton depending which was available ? GWS were very keen on Hotton. Gerreyn is a good pick up for Essendon I was really keen on him for Richmond? In the end Richmond went Sims over Gerreyn and Shananan? I guess we had to many Tall Forwards to go with Gerreyn and Shananan so we went a Ruck/Forward in Sims. What Essendon do have is a great pick in Kako the small forward Essendon needs! We were very keen on him to and coming from a Richmond family now will be Essendon family. It was always going to be hard to get some of the ones you wanted given you had to be prepared to be ready to get Kako ? We broke some hearts with some Teams hoping Sims would be available at there Selection ? Collingwood was one them clubs interest. Everybody had us down to getting Dodson but clearly we were interested in Sims to work with Nankervis and other young Ruckman Colina 211cm , Hayes-Brown 208cm and Samson Ryan 206cm who says we’re don’t have ruckman to work with ? But in saying that we always happy to take Sam Draper off your list if you ever want ? 😂 just kidding you won’t be letting him go! The Draft is always exciting but we won’t know till five years in how Clubs have really gone by there selections ? 🏆17 🏆19 🏆20🐅🐅🐅
Huge fan of Jonty Faull, not surprised he went so high, I can see him being an elite forward.
Yep I agree with that. Will be interesting to see who end’s up the better player Armstrong or Faull or Sims in the long run ? One thing for sure is they will make a great team in Richmond’s Forrward line well in to the future! Do you have any information of why Shananan slipped so far down the order to where west coast got him ? We all had him high up ⬆️ even I at one stage thought we may have to get him at pick 14 range? I did always think Essendon may have came up with something to get him given they had seen what he could do ? There must be something Clubs knew of other Forwards to be ahead of him ? But that’s doesn’t mean the Clubs will be right about that with him only time will tell ? I think now at Richmond being a young team we have a very deadly forward line a fit Lynch , Balta , Bauer and Lefau is bloody dangerous as it is! Add any of theses kids and that’s makes it more so! Then also add Lalor & Aglar when ready will add to that put all this with some speed of Mansell , Campbell , Clarke , M Rioli and I happy with that forward mix. I hoping Armstrong or Faull will get a round 1 spot against Carlton as the Blues will have a hard time with Lynch and Balta which may give Bauer a favourable match up or one of the kids in Armstrong or Faull ? But can only play one of Armstrong or Faull in round 1 this is taking Lefau spot only because we want him right back from injury to be played when ready? Lefau is really tracking well at this stage. Another Player who out of Richmond selections is tracking really well is Smillie who may just earn a spot if that continues ? Maybe the Sub for Impact in those’s late important parts of the game ? Blight did the job last time on McKay and I would give him that roll again. He has had a massive pre-season and run the time trial looking very fit and prime for a massive season! I would not risk Gibcus in round one due to coming back from injury got good tall backs in Broad and Brown that can take Carlton forwards down. Where the Blues may get us is in the midfield as they will go in favourites. But we will be out to knock them off in shocking them. If I had to tip Blues by 3 goals but a upset we will be going for! Any info on Shananan sliding ?
Combined with our AFL players trying to make the 1's, hopefully we get results. Good clubs perform well at all levels.
Thanks, Felix. Merry Christmas mate.
Cheers mate! Merry Christmas
Half a cheeseburger there haha merry christmas
Best cheeseburger of my life, cheers!
Hoping MY FAVOURITE PLAYER BILLY BART GUELFI injured again not what I wanted to hear I believe he is going to be right for opening round GO MIGHTY ESSENDON BOMBERS
Go Bombers!
Guelfi is depth which we can live without, Caldwell is a concern, and hopefully Ben McKay is nothing serious other than that we seem pretty fit which is good maybe stringer has stopped bringing maccas to training
Can’t say no to maccas
Thank bud
Cheers buddy!
Thanks for update
No worries!
What happened in 2018 with the crows?
Had an intense camp which many of the players were unhappy with, many think it is what sent them back down the bottom of the ladder.
Duursma is crucial
Love him in the starting lineup
Duursma is made of glass.
Yeah he’s like Fantasia MkII
Much more talent than Fantasia, although I loved Orazio
Yep, very unfortunate because he is a really handy player.
Cheers mate, that's a pity about Guelfi. I really think he makes our team better.
Agreed! Handy player
Thanks for the update mate, touch wood the boys only have niggles to worry about during pre season and Guelfi gets his hamstring right.
Hopefully!
A camp with no punch ups!!!
That we know of 😝
Thanks for the update mate - I really appreciate all the hard work you put in 👍
Cheers mate!
Guelfi is a lemon. Always has been and is the epitome of the entire list, very average. Should never have been offered an extension, let alone two years. List management is beyond a joke.
He is our best small forward and is hard working pressure player
Still better than you slimey
What on earth are you talking about? We need more honest gritty players like him.
He’s got talent but he just isn’t consistent enough. Not saying he isn’t capable of 30+ goals a year but he’s never kicked more than 20.
You have no idea what you’re talking about if this is a real comment
Last year for Guelfi I’d say. Too injury prone & others have gone past him.
Signed until 2026
Guelfi can't keep his hamstrings together. Doesn't matter how good you are if you are on the injury list
@@CobycardsA contract means nothing these days. Especially if you’re injured all time.
@@mathewwatson1023 nothing at all? I agree with you that others have passed him, but at a minimum he gets paid/list spot until 2026. Unless an agreement between player and club is made/or his traded out. I bet we wouldn’t of given Laverde a contract extension for next year if we had our time again.
@@CobycardsOr they delist him & pay out his contract like they did with Stewart. As I said contract means nothing these days.
