Wowgo 3E: Mild Starter Board - Mini Review
In today's video, we take on a review of the Wowgo 3E! This budget level board has been out for some time, but I wanted to finally get some numbers out there for it so you guys can see it compared to the rest of my review deck!
Some of you will have noticed that the data on this board is actually not new, and has been on the lists for a while, which is true, I have had this board for some time, but never got around to making the official video.
This board is a budget friendly 12s2p board that uses EVE 18650's, a hobbywing speed controller, 90mm urethane, and a compact setup that makes it friendly for people looking for a light and portable board. How does the performance stack up? Watch to find out!
This is a mini review since I did not complete my customary 100 miles on it due to its low range.
Please feel free to ask any and all questions in the comments!

    As a fellow battery builder who makes this same pack, this was fun to watch! Your work is great and I'd like to offer a tip: When you put the charge and discharge on the left side of the pack, it creates a much tighter space for the BMS. It makes everything a little more difficult to get into position. I personally like to have more space for the BMS and that is why I do my folded or braided connection on the left side of the pack (opposite side of the cable gland entry). There's a lot of space in the box on the cable gland side to tuck the discharge wiring and xt60's. Also, I may have missed it, but I don't see a balance wire in between the 9th and the 10th cell group (at the braided connection). I apologize if I missed that in the video but I cant seem to find how you're measuring that node. I heard you mention (23:24) that a balance lead needed to be placed there, so that's a good sign. Awesome video, thank you for sharing!

    Awesome video i subscribed! I did my first build recently with focer 3.1, superflux hs, and 18s battery so I'm seeing alot of similarities❤ One thing i did do differently was put 0.5mm small nylon washers on the m3 studs in the box for a backup and reassurance that the mosfets would not touch the metal box/lid. I cut out washer sized holes in the thermal pad and layed it on the studs around the washers. Pretty sure mario does something similar in his 18s2p vesc build log "Kev special" Awesome work looking forward to the rest of the build!

      Thanks for watching! That is an interesting idea, not a bad one either. I think you'd want to make them just the right height though otherwise risk not having good enough contact. I don't think I'll take mine apart to add it but that's good advice for people who are building theirs for the first time. It sure is a blast though!

      @@RBEMotionyea the washers came with my floatboxx. The washers are 0.5 mm and the thermal pad is 1mm. I got the idea from Marios build along with bushing washers that i picked up for the top of the controller under the nyloc nuts. So much fun to build though!!!

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 10 днів тому

      Ehh yes and no - its more of a pliable deck than a flexible one. It also depends a bit on your weight. You won't have a boosted board or Flex Pro experience but it does absorb some road bumps.

      This is definitely an option, but I find that copper braid and/or soldered joints that are suspended tend to be a lot more durable than welded ones.

    At eskate con races do the diy people race against production people? And 3 links? Is it just the qualifying times that separates everyone? Am building a diy for eskate con, and a trying to figure this out.

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 12 днів тому

      Yessir, if its the same as the past 3 events, everyone races against everyone. You qualify via your qualifying laps and get a time, and that time places you into a racing class. After that, you go into heat races against other people in your class, so it really ends up being skill based rather than equipment based. You could have a stooge and ride it for the first time and only be in the lowest class due to inexperience. I think the system is pretty good, but we'll see if they change anything for 2025.

      @ I wish we could see the track because I want to order my board that I’m doubling up for racing and group riding. Im probably going to go double kingpin anyway because I love it so much and am stable on it, but if it’s a super loose track with not a lot of tight turns then I will go for something tkp(not many rkp options in the high end beside Hoyt and mboards) the nexus trucks are so wide but when you set the angles higher up they have strong turn ability. I actually feel like the trucks being super wide allows you to get the best of both worlds because you can set the wider trucks to a higher degree and have overall more stability and turn ability at once. The wider trucks give more room for a higher angle. So I might go nexus. I’m probably going to get a pivot gt, and swap the trucks to either evolve super carve 2(only 110 dollars for a pair of the best dkp on the market !!) or the nexus trucks I’ll swap on. Not sure yet! I’m also waiting to see the new nomad the ace deck is supposedly going to be releasing. I think it would be much cooler if they made the nomad full carbon so they could enclose the battery making it a lot more sleek and lighter. I really wish it didn’t have the size battery it did because I feel like it compromises the awesome deck design and all for what? A wave of the dick with battery size that no one will use? The nomad n1 was the perfect size, the best looking nomad in my opinion and it would’ve been perfect if it wasn’t for that massive hump in the middle with its over the top W concave. I don’t know why I do this, I’m rambling again. I can’t resist

    Thank you for your review. A qq for you, I'm considering the N3 but also looking at N1 2in1 version. What are your thoughts? Which one would you choose and why?

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 12 днів тому

      Sorry for the late reply! I would consider this: Do you value weight or range more? The N3 and the N1 are fairly similar, with the N3 being the more premium one. I think the trucks on the N3 look a lot cooler, and of course, you have gear drives. For the gear drives and battery alone I'd consider the upgrade. The N3 is extremely heavy though and compared to the much smaller battery in the N1, the portability does change a lot. It really depends on what you want to get out of it. Me personally, I'd take the N3, despite the N1 being much cheaper. I just like range and gear drives.

    Does anyone know if its possible to get a livery like this put on the board? I know they arent offering the livery right now, but maybe someone out there does this kind of thing. Is this even a good idea?

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 12 днів тому

      It is an excellent idea, but takes a ton of skill. I'd say that you could consider contacting radium about it, since they've done it in the past, maybe they could quote you a price for custom work? If they don't you could always take it apart yourself and send the parts to a power coating house to get them colored. For the rest of it, you might be able to get some custom wrap shop to do something, but it's all so small and custom, it might be challenging. Liam told me they spent way too much time on the livery for the XP3 lol

    Normally, the jbd high temp charging protection should be set to 45C for the cells. It looks like you have a bms with only one temp probe and one mosfet temp probe.

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 24 дні тому

      Yeah I don't ever intend on getting the cells to that temperature, if it wasn't clear my single temp probe is on the charging port rather than the cells. During normal operation my cells don't reach those high temp cutoffs anyway, additionally, even if you do put the probe against a cell inside the fishpaper, the temperature readout wouldn't really be accurate enough to matter, in my opinion.

    One more very important thing to ntoe about safety while charging. BMS charging rating. Even if the cells can be charged with a high current, the BMS may be too weak to handle it. And if so, the consequences can be catastrophic. I have already seen this several times, when the BMS can output 100A for discharge and only 5A input for charging. This is called an asymmetrical BMS, such are often used in serial electric skateboards. They either have a small number of MOSFETs for charging (Meepo Hurican), or poor cooling on these MOSFETs (EXWAY X1) And if the charging MOSFET are shorted due to overload, the BMS will not be able to turn off the charging process in case of cell imbalance. Then the probability of explosion and fire is almost 99%

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion 24 дні тому

      Yep you are right. I check my bms ratings before charging each of my boards in the video to be sure they could take it. Definitely important for others to do the same as well

    How much better in performance is an 18s2p battery vs a JWXR or CBXR?

    • @baylormustaine983

      So much better. 15s battery's shouldn't be used in onewheels. Once you get to low battery with a 15s you lose a lot of torque.

    so far I don't see this board as true competition for Trampa and what they offer at a slightly lower price range, and unfortunately since Acedeck spoiled my expectations of what a true MTB should be, I no longer see a MTB withought independent suspension as being part of the present or the future of Mountain boarding :( but good overview on the product 🤙

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion Місяць тому

      Hmm, interesting take. I think it will compete pretty well with the performance of some of the trampa stuff, but it's probably gonna be a bit heavier and less maneuverable depending on which one u get. In terms of suspension, it's definitely a nice idea but it's super heavy and complex and I think it would actually impede you on some routes. I haven't been able to spend time on the Z3 tho so I might have a different opinion if I had.

    • @andreitudose3838
      @andreitudose3838 Місяць тому

      @@RBEMotion Indeed, I agree regarding the suspension system. I would say it's still in its infancy at the moment, however, I do believe that if innovation progresses on the topic new ways of cutting weight will be discovered and overall make the future of MTB a little closer in performance to downhill moutan bikes, even now if a guy had's the funds and time a full scan of the Z3 suspension system can be made and remodeled with strength and weight cutting in mid while using lighter more exotic materials for the 3D print such as magnesium. Actual solutions to make the whole board lighter exist even now, but I do understand how hard would be to mass-produce this and also to provide an affordable price as well :)).

    Newbee tires? If they are the same!? They are only 180, inflated 190.... Heavy and to wide in my opinion. Trampa mudpluger 8 (200) and 9 (215) inch is my favourite 4 offroading.

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion Місяць тому

      Technically they've always been Exway/CST tires, newbee just got to use em early due to connections. 180mm seems like a decent size for some trails, but yeah the weight makes it seem like they'll feel a lot more like 9s than nimble 8s.

    All your accel and braking measures are worse than what I get on my vx2. Have you checked the advanced settings on your app? Mine came with e-braking and acceleration turned down. Once I set them to the max I wound up getting way better performance, particularly on the braking side

    • @RBEMotion
      @RBEMotion Місяць тому

      To be honest, I got it with veryyyyy basic settings. At first, I could only go 16mph. Eventually they had me send it back to them so they could update the firmware, and it got better after that. There were no acceleration options in my app at the time either. Possible they updated it. If so, nice! It was a demo unit so I don't have it anymore

      @ yeah that makes sense. I get the sense that vmax essentially used a bunch of reviewers as american beta testers. As a recent purchaser of the vx2 pro, I want to thank you sincerely for being among the many influencers who bullied vmax into upping the max speed 🤣. I think it’s very encouraging that they as a company have demonstrated a willingness to accept feedback and adjust to the American market.

      @@nostalgiakid100 Hahah that very well could be. This was one of the times when a company reached out to me, and yes, it was definitely to help launch the brand in NA, but I'm glad that we got some positive development out of it. The speed was limited mainly due to regulations in their home country, from what I was made to understand. One other thing is that they had to take it into their warehouse to update the firmware, despite there being a firmware update functionality in the app lol, kind of annoying. Oh well. I hope people have good experiences!

      I get where you're coming from. I think that it has the opportunity to be an excellent day-to-day feature to help control traction on less than ideal surfaces. It can definitely have huge benefits racing if utilized to its fullest, but my honest answer is I haven't spent nearly enough time on the board to say if it would be something that I would love to have every day. I think the plan is for radium to have an app that can interface with the traction control system and even turn it off.

      so far everyone who's using RTS for every day riding has never turned it back off, as its very hard to go back. It puts the soul in the Mach One and brings it to life. The app Radium is releasing allows you to fully setup RTS how you like it. There are a lot of tuning tools and each one makes a difference in how the board rides. It's a lot of fun to play with.
