    Hi! Great video and very informative. Is there a method to natively sync files from a nominated local file directory such as a laptop or External HD to auto back up to the NAS. Much like the mobile app that allows two way and one way syncing, it gives more control over files that are being worked on on a day to day basis to be auto backed up. The only way i can see this as a possibility is by setting up a 'Backup Job' in HBS3 Hybrid and having to plug in the HD direct to the NAS, which is not feasible in my instance. Surely there is a way to do two way syning on the desktop QSync Application?

    Hello , here is my issue if a kind person can help i got a 8 bay qnap nas and i m happy with it. Got 3 pools and all with HHD. 1 for system and some files and others for storage. Now i want to add SSD's (there are 2 slots ) but i need to make ssd as main with system qtshero on them . My system qtsheor is on HHS on pool 1 . Is there a solution ? cause i m afraid to do something by my self and lose data or make nas stop working. Sorry for my english i dont use translators cause i want to learn more by my self . @QNAPCollege 2 місяці тому

      Hi, KBen-hb2kw. Unfortunately the system pool can’t be changed. So if you wanted to set up the NAS with the SSDs being used for the system pool, you would need to reinitialize, which would wipe out your data. Also if you are already running QTS, you can’t switch to QuTS hero without reinitialization, and wiping your data. Also, not all NAS support QuTS hero, so you would need to make sure that your NAS supports it (here is a link to QuTS hero compatible NAS www.qnap.com/en-us/product/?conditions=os-quts-hero). So if you are set on this solution you would need to backup all of your data somewhere else, reinitialize the storage how you want it, and then restore the backed up data to your NAS. If you are okay to just run certain apps off of the SSD, it is possible to create a regular storage pool with the SSDs, and then some apps can be loaded specifically onto the SSD volume.

    • @QNAPCollege
      @QNAPCollege 2 місяці тому

      @@KBen-hb2kw In that event, pools two and three should still be intact. You may loose some apps that you've installed in pool 1 initially, so you may need to reinstall certain apps in that case, but the data on the other pools should be intact.

    I love the whole setup, thank you very much, I had no idea how to achieve it. The only issue I ran into, was a download speed of 700kb/s (incognito browser test). My NAS is connected via Ethernet to my router. I have an upload speed of around 900mbps. I will make some other tests but it needs to be as fast as possible otherwise what would be the sense of it. Any feedback and help is appreciated.

    • @QNAPCollege
      @QNAPCollege 3 місяці тому

      Hi, dedalnok. Here’s a few things to consider. First myQNAPcloud Link does have some performance overhead and will not give speeds as high as a direct connection. Another thing to consider is, how are you connecting to the network from your remote location when accessing the NAS over myQNAPcloud Link. A wired connection should be faster than wifi. If you want to increase your remote access speed to the NAS you can consider setting the NAS as a VPN server and accessing it over a VPN, for a direct connection to the NAS while maintaining better security than simply opening ports unencrypted.

      Hi, @Manuel. Hyper Data Protector does not support this. Hyper Data Protector supports VMware® and Hyper-V VM backups, but it does not support Citrix Backups. Also, it does not currently support backing up VMs hosted on your NAS, but we have plans to add this feature in the future.

    Do you have more details on how you are setting up the containers to use a specific virtual switch? This doesn't work from the virtual switch settings.

    • @QNAPCollege
      @QNAPCollege 3 місяці тому

      You can’t switch network switches after the the container is created, but you can choose what network switch you want to attach to when you create the container. In the configuration window under “Network Configuration” you can click the settings icon and then under “Network mode” you can select “custom” and make sure “Bridge” is selected from the drop down menu and then under the “Interface” section you should be able to select the virtual switch you want to use.

    • @BembelinCz
      @BembelinCz 10 днів тому

      You would use individual if you wanted more space and the data you are handling are not of a big importance to you. RAID 1 just mirrors them. So if you have 2 of 1TB HDDs in RAID 1, you have only 1TB of space. If you use them individualy you have full 2TB of capacity, but no backup if one of the HDD goes bad.

I think thats actually how it was supposed to be qnd you you had gotten your info wrong as reversed on your order to the factory that made these and you didn't catch it until it was too late and just said "F it" and kept it this way? Thats what my logical high quality mind comes up with.

    Say given a limited storage on Google, I would like to keep the most recent photos on Google photos/which would be a replicate of my iPhone album .. but I would use google to take advantage of the AI editing of Google Photos. Now how would the QNAP backup distinguish between old photos that have already been backed up on QNAP vs files that have been deleted for a number of reasons (ie duplicates, poor quality, spam on social media etc) on iPhone/google Photos? The ultimate question is that QNAP here is the ultimate backup of photos/videos, it should keep all the older media that is no longer on iphone/google photos but delete photos that were intentionally deleted either on google photos/iphone. How can this be managed practically? Cheers.

But I have never been able to get the preview icon to work when I send a link to clients. When you click the preview button, it just downloads the picture. I've even paid for the CAYIN MediaSign Player PLUS license because I thought it was telling me that would allow transcoding and preview. Hi. Thank you for the question. Qsync Pro is now integrated into Qfile Pro, so at this point just Qfile Pro should work. For older versions, Qfile Pro has been for general backup and access to files from your mobile device, whereas Qsync is for file synchronization across devices, ideal for collaborative projects with others or just working on your own solo project across devices.

    There was not enough information on the different volumes. I would like information on what situations would benefit from each of the three volume types. Also the person spoke far too quickly so it was a bit difficult to understand. The audio quality could be better

      Hi, mkrugr6401. Thank you for your feedback. Static volumes are primarily for older legacy models that are being migrated over. The main choice for most users now will be between thick and thin. Most people simply deploying a NAS for their own use will be better served by a thick volume. The performance is a little better and you don’t need to keep track of how much is stored on the volume versus how much available space there is. Thin volumes are useful if you need to allocate storage in a more flexible dynamic way among numerous users as storage that isn’t used in a thin volume can be used elsewhere. For more information on storage volumes, you may want to reference our video tutorial, QNP104 Storage Structure: Understanding Storage Management in QTS. Does this give a better idea of what you’re looking for, or do you have a specific scenario that you’d like to better understand?

      Thanks. That was helpful. I have gone with a thick volume. @@QNAPCollege

    34:21 I've heard that thick vs thin doesn't make much a difference in terms of performance for editing on QuTS hero. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

      Since thin volumes have to allocate the storage before writing the data, there will be some performance impact, but, many other elements impact the performance as well, so, depending on the environment the difference might not be very significant depending on the CPU, drives, connection type, etc.

    Does it matter if Erp is enabled or disabled in Bios for this device when Pc is off?

      The TR-004 has a timer, and if no data is accessed for a while it will go into standby mode, so ErP settings on the PC don't affect it.
